Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Management Matt Posted January 10 Management Posted January 10 Beta 10 is finally here Yes, we battled bravely through snow, ice, mince pies, festive men in red suits, New Year celebrations and a last minute issue with our build system yesterday to bring you Beta 10. All the fixes are in the release notes as usual. We do not expect many betas until the final release now. The feature set is locked, so we'll just be triaging bug reports a bit more to essential things. I'll aim to run through the bug tracker to close out fixed bugs. Let me know how you get on. Adriano Faria Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) @Matt, I don’t remember the version but will the upgrade works for PHP 8.3? Edited January 10 by Adriano Faria Matt 1

2TonWaffle Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Easy upgrade without any issues. Nice to see that we're getting into the home stretch. Matt 1
Joey_M Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Upgrading from v4.19 to v5's beta 9.1 was very easy. Despite encountering a few complications and errors in my dev site, the process of upgrading to beta 10 through the ACP was remarkably straightforward. (Issues concerning version 5 and theme-related elements). Matt 1
Gary Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Me jumping out of the upgrade process… Process was flawless as per usual. 🥳 Mick23, Matt, Jim M and 2 others 1 4

Gary Posted January 12 Posted January 12 (edited) Hi @Joey_M, I'm just grabbing some snippets from way back when I installed version 5 for the first time, bearing in mind that it was a fresh install and not an upgrade from a previous release. It may not work for your issue, but it's worth a shot nevertheless. I would suggest the following if you are upgrading from version 4.19 to version 5: Delete the file named 'Promoted.php' in your uploaded files (I did it via cPanel and it was located in applications/core/extensions/core/FrontNavigation/Promoted.php). Delete the 'Promote' item in the core_menu database (I did it via phpMyAdmin) and clear your cache in your AdminCP. My community worked after these steps. Read through the topic I have linked to though as there have been others experiencing the same issues but soon after managed to resolve the error/s. Edited January 12 by Gary Joey_M 1
Joey_M Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Thanks, @Gary. I'm encountering "ALTER TABLE `core_reputation_index` ENGINE=InnoDB, ADD KEY `item_lookup` (`rep_class`,`item_id`,`reaction`);" I have followed the steps you provided by deleting the promoted.php file and dropping the 'promote'.
Dean_ Posted Sunday at 08:14 PM Posted Sunday at 08:14 PM (edited) Successfully upgraded a site that is over 20 years old, starting from 'v2.1.5' back in the day, we've upgraded to each version throughout the years. Only one issue I've come across, not sure if it is a bug. But, the sidebar widgets had different titles to what was actually meant to be. And, they were all the same, showing a topics widget. I had to go into each one, press edit and then save which updated the widget (if that makes sense). Oh, and I had 3 instances of 'recently visited' showing on the forum index. UncrownedGuard Posted Monday at 07:38 AM Posted Monday at 07:38 AM Is it possible to bring an existing Cloud community to IC5 at this point?

Otherwise, you can't get passed it. Marc 1

Joey_M Posted Tuesday at 05:01 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:01 PM With my current development site on v5, I'm having issues where the pages app won't become my default app. It also redirects me to the "All Activity" page. In previous versions, everything seemed okay except for the errors caused to the footer. The rest were due to third-party template changes. The notifications don't work; they show up, but just keep spinning. I know there is limited support. I'm not in a hurry to upgrade, but I want to see my site in v5, so I can make a healthy decision about upgrading. I particularly want to see how the store functions. Should I wait for future updates? I'm mindful that the last time I tried to back up and re-import my site into my development subdomain, it caused issues with my main site. I also want to help find bugs. I don't think my current environment has bugs, but issues from the upgrade.
Joey_M Posted Wednesday at 01:37 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:37 AM (edited) Just pointing out also: Due to having modified the default templates in the pages application, my upgrade doesn't come with v5's and there's no way to revert them. I can 'delete' but that reads as if it will remove the template completely, which I assume it does. Edited Wednesday at 01:39 AM by Joey_M Clarification
Gary Posted Wednesday at 03:00 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:00 AM (edited) AdminCP -> Customization -> Appearance -> Themes -> Click the blue '+ Create New' button This will create a new default theme, provided you don't edit anything in there apart from the theme's name. Make the newly created theme your default. Edited Wednesday at 03:03 AM by Gary Joey_M 1
