Hello,

I don't need all these applications, how can I buy it with my choosen apps only as it was before?

We no longer sell Invision Community Classic with individual applications. This is in preparation for v5 where there will no longer be a separation for the "applications" like there is now. It will just be all bundled together and more tightly integrated.

Old pricing for full Invision Community Classic was $850 upfront and $300 per year.

New pricing is $499 upfront and $199 per year.

You can reach out to sales if you have questions about pricing or options.

Thanks, Charles. This is a serious change that should be described on a blog or in a dedicated topic.

For me and for many clients it is breaking news 😬

So now I pay $150 at every 6 months. With the new model, will I pay $199 per year? Is that right?

Correct. So you would pay $199/year instead of $300.

Edit: Or $19/month. You can choose your option.

It should also give you credit for your history with your current license type and offer you at least a few months free 🙂

Also, isn’t Downloads missing in this listing?

Yes, that's been fixed.

This screenshot also says you're getting "Live Topics" and "Real Time Features" on classic.

The page can really benefit from some proofreading, before it causes any more confusion.

Those were greyed-out but I can see how that would be confusing.

For those of you asking about your current license or v5: you can keep your current license as is and v5 does not yet exist so nothing to report on that just yet.

I am a tad confused by this post. For someone like me that just wants to use the 'forums' portion and I currently pay $80 a year for self-hosted are you saying the price is going to increase per year now?

Why does it seem like IPS just tries to sneak in a new pricing structure? This happened last time as well. Why can't you guys just make a blog post stating "hey are pricing structure is changing", why does it always have to be so secretive? It's only when a member notices it and brings it to light.

want v5, click the button. Don't want v5, and want to stay on v4, don't click the button.

Well looks like this will be the end of IPS for me and will be switching back to Xenforo then. I always assumed V5 was just an update, not a whole new force to cloud.

I'm not sure where you get a force to Cloud (Classic is still cheaper than Cloud 🙂 ). Classic is self-hosting and is offered for v5. v4 is also going to be maintained for quite some time still.

But if I have a forum license, why do you have to FORCE me to pay more (from 110 to 199 per year), giving me applications like Pages, Commerce and Blog which honestly are garbage since you can get better results using other software?

In my project I use Forum and Gallery and honestly, Gallery is so poorly structured and neglected by your development that it is not worth buying. You should offer a light package, only forum.

I also have another project, an Italian support forum, invisionita, which is 13 years old. With these prices, it is becoming unsustainable for me to continue maintaining the project, translating the platform into Italian and helping with guides, etc. I cannot afford to pay $199 for unofficial Italian support.

Just to clarify:

The new purchase prices are only for new purchases.

If you want to switch to the new pricing terms (for many clients it will be a better deal), you can do this in the client area. You will also be given several months of free time on your license calculated on your past loyalty. View the page for full details as the terms may vary.

If you do not want to switch to the new pricing terms, there's no need to do anything or even pay any attention to this right now.

Hi, I migrated to the new terms because it is much more interesting for me.

But, I didn't see it in this thread (or else I'm blind) -> Although the archive to download does contain all the applications mentioned, it's a bit confusing to be able to "repurchase" the applications with the new terms ðŸ˜…

Could contain: Page, Text, File, Webpage

Just to mention it to you, if this is a small oversight in the customer area ðŸ˜†

Kudos to whomever developed this solution! Thank you for not giving up on the self hosted version!!!

Actually, several clients were invited to a private feedback group and have been giving us feedback for the past several months on how best to re-approach Invision Community Classic. Our goal was to make self-hosting viable for the future.

That is right and we recognize that's a change but we had to make this change. One huge area of abuse on the old way was people not renewing for 3 years, paying $50, and then getting 3 years worth of new software.

The monthly option is a payment plan for the yearly. You can of course switch to yearly at any time.

I hear you but they are totally separate systems for business and tax purposes so that's... hard 🙂

This "then getting 3 years worth of new software" is a non-sequitur. They weren't using and the benefitting from the new features during those three years, so no "abuse" exists except in the management team's minds.

Imagine someone someone who left their car uninsured for 3 years, and decided to re-insure being told they must pay the 3 years back insurance because new policies have additional features. Or Microsoft making everyone upgrading to a newer Windows version pay the upgrade fees for all the versions between.

Retroactive update charging frankly, comes across as petty. It is one of the most restrictive licensing terms I've run across in 30+ years of working in the software world.

I hope this post doesn't disappear as other critical posts about the new licensing model have.

I'll be honest when I saw this thread, I almost went for the popcorn, but this is actually a pretty big W for self-hosted licenses.

Removing the ability to select apps is actually smart. While it may greatly restrict your ability to budget on smaller orgs, it kind of pushes you into trying them and finding ways to monetize.

Both of my licenses were missing apps, so having access to them all while still paying less kind of blows my mind. This was not on my "what will IPS do next" bingo card. A step in the right direction and much appreciated by us self-hosted customers!
