Bump Topic Feature... 1 2
by Guest ~Dopey~- 40 replies
- 11.5k views
I'd like to suggest this feature (Bump Topic) :) I liked it in 1.3 and I think it'd be good in current versions of IPB. Some may disagree with this as I've learnt from past experience but I found it to be quite handy to bump announcements.

Fast reply window
by Guest fbi_coleman- 7 replies
- 2.4k views
We have all of our forums configured to support fast/quick reply...but can't seem to find any way to configure the board so that the fast reply pane is open by default for all users. Each user can modify their own account settings to do so, but we would like to set a default value...without writing SQL to update everyone's account...and then needing to add a default value to the DB schema for new users. Just curious. Thanks

Invision Download Manager?

Why isn't IDM given more advertisment on the forums? They don't realy have a Company Feed Back spot and you can't give it a mini test drive on the forum either.

Suggestion for web page: rewrite unclear "community" pages
by Guest Dave Baker- 2 replies
- 1.9k views
The problem: it's not clear how to find out what the company's software products are. They turn out to be at the bottom of a page one gets to by clicking on "community" at the top of the home page. I didn't know what "community" was about. I assumed it was a link to a bulletin board for IPS customers. Then, when I found that it was in fact a page about the company's software, I found inconsistent and undefined terms until I found some links at the bottom of the page. Also, the left-hand navigation bar on the target page ( http://community.ipslink.com/ ) didn't make much sense to me. Here's what I mean by inconsistent and undefined terms. The target page starts out b…

View New Posts link for Lo-Fi
by Guest fbi_coleman- 0 replies

We love the Lo-Fi option. It is great when you are browsing on a phone, but is there any way to add a "view new posts" link to the lo-fi page? It is one of our users' most utilized functions.

[FEEDBACK] Logging on 1 2 3 4
by Guest theclub- 94 replies

I still have to keep logging on here, and this is not the first time I have brought it up. Will someone from IPS please explain to those of us affected by this exactly why? I am SO glad I haven't upgraded to 2.2, there is no way I am going to subject my members to this! :( PS: Don't tell me to delete cookies, wipe out temp files, or anything else my end ... none of it works.

[Suggestion] ACP restrictions per usergroup (as well as per user). (we have lots of admins and all of them don't need access to everything- it'd be easier to put say, 'skinners' into a 'skinner' usergroup and only give access to the skin area)

attachment thumbnails and resized external pictures
by Guest TCWT- 0 replies
I don't understand the following (as examples): resized external linked images would show at the top- Reduced: 85% of original size [ 600 x 400 ] - Click to view full image whereas.. attachment thumbnails wouldd show- Reduced 4% and the resolution and size at the bottom of the thumbnail: 251 x 312 (230.4k) And to enlarge attachments, you click on the image itself, to enlarge externally linked images, on the other hand, you click on the image info bar at the top.... I want to know where is the uniformity? Help me understand why you guys make it this way. It'd be better to show all information at the top, like external resized images

Wrap attachment thumbnails to width of forum
by Guest Capt'n Morgan- 2 replies
- 1.5k views
I did some searches but didn't find this feature request. I did see it as a bug request, but the developers indicated it was functioning as designed. I'm not happy with the way that 2.2.2 lines up multiple attachments. Because the default setting for attachment thumbnails is quite small, IBP sets the thumbs to line up in a row. They don't stack by default. In older versions, attachments were like so: [x] [x] [x] [x] [x] In 2.2.2, they looks like so: [x][x][x] [x][x][x] [x] When the thumbs are larger, this causes the page to scroll left to right. The width of the page is completely disregarded. Not everyone knows how to use the feature to insert the attachments …

[Suggestion] ... "Contact Us"
by Guest AndyF- 8 replies
- 3.1k views
I was thinking that really the "contact the admin" link that appears on the error pages could do with a big change instead of just a mailto: type link. Also it would be good if it was encorporated into the board index too somehow. I would like to see a similar system to what VB has for this, where by it opens a form to fill in (with captcha if its a guest using it) , a choice of options (ie registration problem / feedback etc etc) and a selectable different email address for any enquires. Obviously with an acp on / off switch too. Just something i wanted to mention anyway. :) Any thoughts ? :)

IPS FAQ for Server Configuration
by Guest MaNiAc LRSC- 15 replies
- 5.5k views
Many people have IPB running on the own server, not few of them IPB only. That's why it would be very useful for me and surely for many other professional IPB users (who pay for this software), that invision gives clear information, which configuration of php (modules, threaded or not etc) and Apache2 (modules, preforking, worker etc) is optimum for IPB stability and performance. Since you guys coded this forum you know best whats good and whats not. So if a PHP worker configuration is less stable than a fork config, i need this info from you, since i'm not a beta-tester for evaluating software stability. Try and error is not an option. This would be a perfect addition…

Banning people
by Guest Gtastunting- 17 replies
- 5.7k views
I noticed the topic about banning about 3 topics down, but judging by titles, mine is different. Banning these days is pointless, any old schmuck knows how to use a Proxy or an Anonymous browsing website. What else could Invision do to make banning more effective. I think they should look more in to this. If anybody has any known methods about getting past the things I mentioned, please tell me. - Gtastunting.com

E-mail BBCode
by Guest Paulo Freitas- 5 replies
- 2.1k views
Hi! ;) Actually the e-mail BBCode only display e-mails in raw mode (unsafe, of course). My suggestion is to encode the BBCode input, generating a safe output. A good example of this is the {mailto} function of Smarty, that has two types of encode, JavaScript and hexadecimal code. Beyond the source code of Smarty, follows below my simple'n'poorly implementation of this to exemplify the changes: ./sources/classes/bbcode/class_bbcode.php Find: $txt = preg_replace( "#\[email\](\S+?)\[/email\]#i" , "<a href='mailto:\\1'>\\1</a>", $txt ); $txt = preg_replace( "#\[email\s*=\…

Ticket support system
by Guest Nuro- 20 replies
- 6.6k views
I have submitted a few tickets recently. Each time, I get a reply back stating: Firstly, I'm really sorry, but I am sure that you don't need to log in to my board to understand the nature of my problem. It is a general problem that I am sure many other users have had themselves. Secondly, why the insistance to have the full access to my board? The first email that I used with Invision/Ipsbeyond was compromised and is now being Spammed, what is to guarantee that the full access to my board will be kept safe? It is not your livlihood so it doesn't really bother you. It bothers me so please don't ask for it again.

Problems
by Guest Sonic98- 3 replies
- 2.5k views
I don't mean to be critical, but lately I have no idea what is going on with my Invision products. I've been using an IPB board since 1.2 I believe, and I use Invision's hosting for that website even thought I have my own servers and hosting capabilities. But lately there have been more problems than need be. I have a site that at one time was pretty highly ranked in alexa and rankings.com for the type of site it is, and a lot of people from similar or competing sites were switching over. But it seemed as if the server/site always picked the worst possible time to go down, not to mention the server being infected with viruses and scripts so many times since moving to IPB …
