theclub Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I still have to keep logging on here, and this is not the first time I have brought it up.Will someone from IPS please explain to those of us affected by this exactly why?I am SO glad I haven't upgraded to 2.2, there is no way I am going to subject my members to this! :( PS: Don't tell me to delete cookies, wipe out temp files, or anything else my end ... none of it works.
stobbo Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I personally have never had any problem with it, isn't there a issue with AOL users and changing IP's?
zigs Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Im on Aol and havent had to log in once here (well I did once when I deleted my cookies then had to log back in)
Imola Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 same problem on all my forum and all 2.2 forums.... help plz !!! And Happy new year everybody :)Thanks
princetontiger Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Occasionally, I'll have to log back on...
Jason H Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Because there's a setting that expires your login key after a set period of time? I can't remember if it defaults to 3 or 7 days.
stobbo Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Because there's a setting that expires your login key after a set period of time? I can't remember if it defaults to 3 or 7 days. How come I never have to relogin when others do?
kafloo Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 maybe because the stronghold cookies are activated
Brandon C Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Because there's a setting that expires your login key after a set period of time? I can't remember if it defaults to 3 or 7 days.I believe it defaults to 7 days.
Tom_F Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 There is also match browser & IP options in v2.2 - meaning if you have a ISP with a dynamic IP address then each time you change IP you'll loose your login.
stobbo Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 That could be the problem. I am on a ISP which does not have a very dynamic IP address, and never have to log in unless I clear my cookies.
C_ind Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 I believe it defaults to 7 days. What did it default to previously?
XGhozt Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Its a new security thing apparently. I already reported it as a bug, and it was "working as intended". Eventually it just stopped happening to me. I think its because of people that where on the old boards and when updated the cache changed or something. Its stopped for me, just clear your cache and relogin.*cough* Get firefox *cough*
Kibo Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 It's happening to me on 2.2 Boards and I am on Firefox.
squidfish Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 its happening to me too and i have to log on every day, even on the same PC using the same browser (firefox).this has to be a bug :)
robirming Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 It's happening to me on 2.2 Boards and I am on Firefox.Same here, on Mac.
L.A. Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 i think that is a firefox problem, because other guys dont have this problem with opera.i'm using firefox and have the same problem with IPB 2.2 and 2.2.1
theclub Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I just had to log in again, even though I was in here earlier. My comp hasn't been turned off, and my IP address hasn't changed. :(
bfarber Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I never have to re-login - I haven't been to this forum since Friday, and I just opened it up and I'm still logged in.It's not a global bug - there is something causing you to be logged out. Do you visit from multiple locations? i.e. work and home? That would reset your login key and you'd have to re-login, for example. There's something specific causing it, and I can't reproduce (here, at least).
RawkBob Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I'm getting it too, FF&Mac OS X - both on these forums and my own install.
stobbo Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 i think that is a firefox problem, because other guys dont have this problem with opera.i'm using firefox and have the same problem with IPB 2.2 and 2.2.1I use Firefox with no problems, and I know others who do.
Invisionary Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I've seen it happen here, Invisionize, my own board and others. I only ever access these sites from the same PC in the same location. It seems to be random - sometimes I have to login, sometimes I don't (I've never actually tried timing this).I use Firefox 2.0.0.1 and have no desire to switch browser just to see if it fixes the problem.
