Just letting you know, there's an extra 'c' in the latest news topic: IP.Board 3: Friendly URL Enchancements Not flaming, just bringing it up. :) EDIT: There's an error in the BB code under Meta Tags, also. the BB code is incorrectly closed using the [content] BB code which I don't think exists. :P $this->registry->output->addMetaTag( 'name', 'content' );[/content]

Idea for IPB 3.x: Temp Locking Threads

Often moderators want to temporarily lock a thread (to let people calm down). As of current the mod has to remember to log back on to unlock a topic. A feature to allow an XX minute "lock" on a topic would be useful :) .

To say the least I am very irritated right now. I was commenting on a topic that just got locked, and spent some time typing up my reply. When I hit the button to post I was sent to an error message that said the topic was locked. I hit the back button, and my post was gone. I thought this was a feature, but if for any reason an error shows up during the posting process, there *should* be a solid way to save your post. At least then you don't completely felt like you just wasted a bunch of time.

When you validate accounts through User Email, and it says "Delete account", "Approve account", "Resend Validation Emails", it would be neat to add a "Ban this account", for porn bots or anything.

I have recently bought the ipb hosting package with forums, and I payed the money. Now I go into the client area, and when I go into downloads, it says "Sorry, but you do not have access to any of the functions in our Download Manager." How am I supposed to download the forums then? It says the invoice is inactivated or something, do I have to wait till someone reviews my account or something? Please help, I don't want my money to go to waste. I sent a support ticket, but they haven't answered.

[SUGGESTION] Auto-remove IMG tags in quotes

This started as a support ticket, with me asking if there's a setting in the ACP where the board automatically removes the quoted IMG tag. This will reduce the loading time of a page and the bandwidth used, and will also bring happiness to the users/readers :P :lol: Jason of IPS Support thought it was a "fantastic idea" (yay me! :P ) and recommended I should post it here as a suggestion. I'm actually tired of removing the IMG tags when I quote a post with images, and I didn't want to totally remove the image (or link) so as not to have the readers go back to the original post. Thanks :)

Hi all, i noticed when i use the [codeobx] for big copy pasta, no linebreaks gets inserted, so you have to scrool xxx times to the left to reach the end of a line.. I tried this on verious boards now, and it begins to annoy me, any fix for this? or is it included in 3.0?

Discounts can bring number of customers to your company. As you made the last 'discounted price' that started from 5th Jan till 9th Jan (Tomorrow), it wold be nice to extend this date to 20th Jan (to let people purchase IPB and to increase their awareness) People love discounts , this is something that can switch my thought about IPB - to buy IPB or not to buy? Have seen lots of requests for a mod for this which should be a 'built in' in IPB. Perhaps this needs AJAX marking system to work? I know on vB this was a built in as well as 'my threads/topics' (topics the user started) and 'my posts' (all posts a user posted). I'm sure I remember a table in my vB database that was used for read/unread posts.... Also, better/more search features such as find posts by member name (input field), find topics started by member name(input field), etc.

Hi, I am keen to purchase IP.Board for a site I have. It is running Community Server 2007. Does the conversion tool you have support this version of Community Server? I can't find the answer anywhere. Does anyone perhaps have an answer for me? I want to take advantage of the current special however I would like to know if the conversion will work before I buy. Just out of curiousity, when will MSSQL support appear in the betas? I've just had a long exchange with Jason in a ticket about some MSSQL issues on my board which we tracked down to a bug in the MSSQL driver for IPB (whch I can't log, as the IPB 2.3.6 section is locked). I'd like to check to ensure it's fixed before IPB3 is released.

On 2.3.* , we could edit poll votes on each questions, after we edit, "total votes" does not change It is really wield that people could increase/decrease votes for each options, but total votes stay the same totally un-logical reasons why we edit votes are various such as old people do not really care to use computer and they are our members in physical world and want to vote too. I personally don;t think IPS should really care "why" as IPS provides forum system "skeleton", NOT "behaviour control" class. Will we see an overhaul to the emoticons in IPB3.0? I'd like to see tabbed emoticons in the post editor so that members can select a range of themed smilies (Standard/Xmas/Large etc) from a tab in the RTE. Also, I think it should be easier to manage smilies, making it a simple and quick option to enable or disable a group of seasonal emoticons like Halloween, Xmas from the AdminCP: click to make 'em available to members in the emoticon tabs, click again to deactivate them. Not sure if I explained this properly, I'm full of a heavy cold. Sorry!

I've seen it as an option on a few other boards. Basically it sorts a whole topic with the latest posts first. one of the members on our forum made a request for it. I can't remember it's available or not as I couldn't find anything.

not sure if this is the right place to post this but seems like the right place to ask. I have been an existing customer for a long time like 2003 I got a license but I got a new one last night at the new price and was wandering if the free conversion still applies to existing customer as I want to have one site converted over using that new license i just got. :) I opened a ticket about 12 hours ago so thats kind of what got me thinking it does not apply to existing customers.

If that field is set, don't just allow display name & email checks or what not, but 'fill in' a member's settings. Like set the board's default language, default editor, time offset, etc. to the member account as well.

I find it a little curious that instead of just changing the forum heading they are listed under, that when a topic is moved it is simply dropped from a person's topic subscription screen altogether. How hard would it be to have the system just update the screen and place the topic under it's new forum's header?

Copying a single post

For easier moderation, we frequently need to copy a post on the board (usually to merge it with someone elses post and so be able to place updates and stuff. Hard to explain, but we had it on our VBUlletin board as a standard moderation option, got very attached to it, and now on IPB none of us has been able to find this easy function ANYWHERE. Maybe we are just overlooking it ?? Could someone please let me know HOW I can copy a post and either leave it in the same thread or transport it to another thread or a new topic ?? And if it is nog a basic funtion, which I can hardly image, is there a mod for it ?? Thank you in advance.
