Shef
When you validate accounts through User Email, and it says "Delete account", "Approve account", "Resend Validation Emails", it would be neat to add a "Ban this account", for porn bots or anything. Shef
Or just not approve the account? Its called Feedback for suggesting, not for being a wise guy..
Jυra
I didn't intend any harm, but why would someone ban the account instead of not approving it?
Shef
I didn't intend any harm, but why would someone ban the account instead of not approving it? Most of a chance for not registering since the account is banned. If you can add a "IP ban" and the script bans your IP to, that would be sick, and you won't have to see them. Jυra
Wouldn't better spambot protection be better? They wouldn't be able to register in the first place.
FrostedPopTart
Some of the "spambots" are human, and I could even join up on some sites just to post porn / advertisements / spam / etc. It's not hard. I'm sure Brandon / Matt / et al. can code in a feature to auto add a user's IP / email / username to the banlist if the admin chooses to do so. Jυra
How would you know not to approve of them or not if they're human? How can you auto-add ban information?
Rheddy
There's no reason to have a 'ban account.' Just don't approve the account. Or just go into 'Edit Member' and change their usergroup to 'Banned.' There's no reason to have a 'banned' option. And why are we discussing this? IPB3 already has the function to where you can pull up that user account and just click on a button to ban that member. If you have been testing IPB3 then you would know this. There's no reason for a function like this since it's already covered by either deleting the member or editing that member and changing their usergroup.
