I have a little issue with how secondary groups are done. When a member is part of a secondary group their name does now show up in said group. Some say they like this because you can have a user as secret moderator of sorts, that's fine, but I would like my users to know who is moderating them if there is an issue. In order to accommodate users that what anonymity and for and others that would like to display, maybe we could have a check box for groups instead of a list. So we would see something like... Primary Group (would be your normal drop down list) Users Secondary Groups (List all current groups, each group would have a some check boxes. Is a member, Hi…

I suggest that it becomes possible to change the language direction (RTL <-> LTR) in the IPB editor on the fly (CTRL+shift) without having to change the whole language of the board. This is necessary and more comfortable for Arabic forums such as mine. While we use the Arabic language as the default one, it's also frequent that we write English topics. Thank you.

Want to know about what I think is possibly one of invision's biggest mistakes ever? watch the video! Note: Sorry about the english, it's not my first language. :)

A thing that would be very easy to realise is the member list to sort it by reputation points. It would be great to have a list who is the "best". ;)

My idea is one that is already implemented in the Project Gazelle source. Basically when someone posts a URL to a thread on that board, it's dynamic. So if I was using https, it would say https://URL for me, but if MemberX saw it and he was on port 80, it would just say http://URL. Also this could be used so if you changed your domain name all the old links would work because they would be updated with the new domain name. Just a thought. (My forums have changed domain a lot)

From all the new, web 2.0 things in IP.Board 3, I'm still rather disappointed with the Moderating Team page. In my opinion, it's missing important information yet displaying the useless type. The location is not important to me, really. If I want to know where they are from, I can go to their profile. Users should be able to go to the staff page to see who is staff and who can help them. I think including an online/offline image or small text would be nice, as well as include the staff member's title, such as "Graphics Director." That would allow forum admins to give their staff titles that are actually useful. Also, there should be an option for an admin to pick the defa…

Instead of having a banned usergroup, perhaps just have a menu in the ACP/MCP to ban a user and enter why they are banned. They will then see the message showing why they are banned when they try to visit the board.

Please consider implementing this. When using Facebook Connect, immediately ask for them to enter a Display Name. I do not, and probably many others don't want their full name being displayed to strangers. Thanks.

Hello ! :) It seems to me I didn't post a topic in the good forum (too tired). So I wanted to apologize and tell a moderator about it so that he can move my topic to the good forum. But I didn't find an easy way to do it... I read the "Moderators team" page but it's not easy to find the moderator you need... I clicked on "Report this topic" but I read : "This form is to be used ONLY for reporting objectional content" etc. so I didn't use this form. So, considering that I'm a user with no particular skill in computers and IPB (like nearly everybody), perhaps the way to contact a moderator could be improved ? What do you think of it ? Thank you ! :)

It's been suggested that I post this question here. The reason being, given the nature of my site, I don't want the topics from the "Off Topic" section showing in the "New Topics Posted" It kinda detracts from the serious stuff. Seems from the replies to my thread, it's something others would like to see also

I think it'd be good if we could receive email notification if our boards die (SQL error, mainly) - it took me a day to notice that the "Recent Status Updates" hook had crashed my board because I had no reason to log in!

I think my request is going to be pretty simple, so please bear with the lengthy explanation. I have been working on an application that is trying to utilize the classPost.php file for creating topics, creating replies, and editing posts. It is convenient in that I can set just a few flags and have it do the work for me, but it seems to be a big pain to use it as a real API. The code is littered with all kinds of permission checks that stop me from doing these functions. For example, I'm trying to create a tool that will loop through a series of forum topics and rebuild the content of their first post. I am able to set the content, tell who the author was, what topi…

Hi, simple idea to have some "different" bbcodes such as [closed]post[/closed] which would close the topic (if the account your on has sufficient privileges defined by the administrator of course. Where this idea came: I was writing a reply to an idiotic post and realized, "Hey, I always type -Locked, or /closed it would be more convenient if I didn't have to move my hand off my laptop to the external mouse or touchpad." Anyways, this could be extended to things like [move forum=forumid]post[/move] which would move that thread to a different forum as well as post a reply with what ever custom message you'd like. How it would work: When posted it would be parsed …

I think it would be helpful if: The renewal link and notice that you see when in the main Subscriptions page (public view) was also shown on the subscription hook. This way users can easily to go the renewal page when they have to renew.

I'm using IPB ver 1.3. Is there any way that I can hide the member no. that shows up under each user's information? Hiding the information in each user's profile isn't as important as hiding it on each post (above where it says join date and number of posts). Thanks in advance.

Thanks to someone's tip, I was able to fix Statistic Center log, when sorted by month, but I just noticed, that there is more mess, when sorted by a week, or by a day: September, for instance, has 4 days only (??) ...and weekly:

Even when the RSS Import is set to not increment the posters number of posts it does so on the daily stats. This makes the member ID the RSS feed is set to look like the largest poster of the day if you are using several news feeds. In Version 2 this did not happen. I even set the forum where they feeds show up to not increase the number of posts. Same results. I thought it was a bug and reported it and was told that the code is working as designed. So apparently the code is designed to ignore the do not increase the posters numbers settings. It would be nice if IPS either did away with the settings which do not work or changed the code so that they do work.

It's fairly pointless unless it adds some control, like only allowing friends to view gallery photos etc. Any plans to upgrade this into a real feature?

I may have encountered an error, but it maybe because I have reduced width board? When viewing posts, the Fast Reply box at the bottom of the page (when not activated) looks like this with these errors... When you activate the box, it then maximises... So is this a problem with the default skin with people on reduced width boards or is it to do with the code I edited to have the board reduced?

I like how you documented Error Codes in the Customer Resources section. Could you add similar documentation for all DB tables and columns? It would really help if there was a quick reference where I could look up a table or column in the database and see a description of what purpose the element serves, when, where, and why it is created, read, updated, and destroyed. With code like IP.Board, such schema documentation would go a long way to explaining exactly how the DB is used and help us in writing mods that do the write thing, especially if you include the methods that are public that affect the table or columns. Similarly, it would be nice to document all pub…

As it is now, everything in public_forums_moderate_moderate is marked as private (except doExecute), making it impossible for 3rd parties to hook into it. That will result in file edits, which all of us are trying to avoid, and probably one of the main reasons you made it. So I'm requesting that either some (or all) of the methods are set to public, or protected (if that allows a child class to call it).

To Whom I May Concern, Just a few moment's ago, I made a renewal payment of $25.00 via paypal (Screenshot available on request). I am still not able to download anything, etc. Is there anything going on? I tried also to submit a ticket, yet it just logs me out. Thanks.
