Basically when someone posts a URL to a thread on that board, it's dynamic. So if I was using https, it would say https://URL for me, but if MemberX saw it and he was on port 80, it would just say http://URL. Also this could be used so if you changed your domain name all the old links would work because they would be updated with the new domain name. Just a thought.
