Hallo I need to know how to deal with custom BBCodes created in 3.4.7 which seem to be gone in 4.0.1. I've seen I can customize the editor and add buttons but that seems a bit broken at the moment. And I wonder what happens if moderators edit posts that contain old custom BBCodes. There are 2-3 crucial BBCodes in my community that - once broken - mainly messes everything up (example: foreign fonts forum) I remember from a blog post about the editor one could still use bbcode. But that seems not to be true for custom bbcode. It was mentioned there will be a hook to rebuild that functionality? Where can I find that? Thanks!

Adding 1 product to several categories would be the great option. For example, 1 painting may be added to the Van Gogh category and to the Post-Impressionism category. Seams to be that only the Forums application is developing in IP Suite from version to version. All other applications are experiencing lack of development in the sence of new features and design.

Just an opinion on the Search functionality. I am sure that the removal of Sphinx was a decision which received a lot of thought, but the native search functionality is really deficient and something needs to be done. One of the primary purposes of a forum is the archival and retrieval of unstructured data. Because it's unstructured, the search function plays a primary role in the retrieval of information based on criteria. I won't pretend to know the challenges of implementing a robust search, however in my simplistic opinion I should be able to search for something like "IPS 4.1.6 beta" which is the exact topic title and see at very minimum that topic because …

I would like A way to ban guests by ip! I want guest posting since not everyone wants to sign up to a news board but will comment if guest posting is open. But in its current state it is unusable due to problem guests ruining it for everyone. Since you cannot ip ban a guest my only option is to close guest posting when i do open it. Now i know someone here is going to answer with, thats a moderation issue. While i agree to a certain extent. we do need a way to stop certain guests from posting. and an ip ban itself is not a fullproof measure due to the innovation of vpn's and proxies! but it helps a great deal since the guest will just eventually get bored and it woul…

Please allow member search fields to be searched independently. Marked WAI, so... Try to find members in Wyoming using Location search field, BUT you also have to enter something in the main search field which searches display names. Huh? Fields are not searchable alone. So you may find one member in Wyoming by guessing a display name. That's about all it does. If I search Hobbies with "fishing" I have to also to search display names with a term? It makes no sense. I can put fishing there too but then I get a user with fishing in his name and fishing under Hobbies. As seen in my bug with the word "test" twice.

Right now when someone clicks on a link in the "Latest Threads Stream", they are taken to the first post of the thread. So for example if the thread has four (4) pages, the user is taken to post 1 on page 1. I'd like the users to be taken directly to the latest post of the thread. Am I doing something wrong or is that a feature in IPB that would need to be changed? Thanks

Hi ! I'm writing this message to suggest a feature which doesn't existe at the moment: give members the ability to delete a post, ONLY IF this post is the last of a topic. When the post is part of the discussion (= an other member added an other post after this one), the first post is not longer deletable. Do you think this feature could be added in a latest version of IPS 4 ? Thank you !

IPB4 seems to be really excellent at this point with connecting users with topics. Topic discovery is working well. However, it seems the "community" aspect is still in need of improvement. The member discovery process is very difficult. Here is a recent comment from one of my members. Suggestions: Upgrade "location" field to collect useful information. As a client of InvisionPower, I need to know the status of BBCODE in 4.0 and in future releases and how you plan on resolving existing BBCODE issues. As I stated in a post in 2013, support forums like BleepingComputer, Emsisoft, Malwarebytes, GeeksToGo and many others rely on the use of BBCode to properly support our users through prewritten canned speeches. I was told by Matt that support would not be abandoned. Based on comments from IPS devs and what we see in the current release, I personally think IPS is going back on this promise. I'm trying to investigate frequent downtime periods that happens fairly daily, but still not with a clear interval between each time. In doing that I'm trying to now look over whether any of the tasks cause this. The problem I have with that is that there are no log entries for when each task has actually been executed, so I can't see if any of the previous execution times for tasks corresponds to the times our servers tend to go down.

Hi! I've try to put "images" in front page (top of home page) but this block remain also inside content articles and i don't have fount a valid way to remove from here! I think home and subpage need a different setting from blockmanager. In home i can put more blocks (like latest image, latest download, more read articles etc) but when i click in article i want see just this article (and no scroll down to pass all block already present in home) :| regards...

seems that using profanity filter only affects future posts. However, there needs to be a way to clean up older posts. "process all posts with current filters" Thank you

From 3.4 to 4 you changed so there is no longer a copy of the original content at the time it was reported within the original report. This can be very problematic from a moderator perspective, since the moderator is interested in the content that triggered a report to be made. Also, upon other moderators reviewing the case or commenting the report, they may not realize the content has since been changed. Let's say: a member writes something offensive, it's reported, and then the member edits their post to hide their original offense. The report then lacks the necessary context and evidence to make it be taken as seriously by the moderator as it should be. …

I like the advertisement features in v4 and have a couple of suggestions to help improve it for those running a lot of advert/permissions. Ability to create folders/categories to organize the advertisements; I've got a big list to scroll through at the moment. To see the javascript raw code instead of "Javascript disabled for security" message, it would be helpful to see what code is in use (for example if old or new Adsense code) rather than opening the advert up for each one. Hi there, I believe I have discovered a bug where if you nest a category within a category and have special group viewing permissions, the title of the category is still visible to those that shouldn't see it. Example: I have a category called Test, and it's public to everyone to see. Then I have a category within 'Test' which has special group viewing permissions where only admins can see this category (meaning guests and members are excluded). I didn't really think about this until now but howabout including a feature for IP.Content/Pages where an admin can set an icon for a category which would be displayed as the image next to the article on the index page for IP.Content? What I'm referring to is when you have "Pages" set up for articles view, it would be a nice feature if an admin could set it up when creating a category so that when a news item or article is created, that the "icon" or "image is displayed to the left side of the article (or right-side, depending on your preference) to act as a graphic for that article. Option of adding unique alt and title attributes to the img tags will dramatically increase site's seo results. This is usefull for all possible places where img tag is used: attachements, image advertisements, Downloads screenshots, Commerce screenshots, Calendar images, profile cover images, etc.

I would love the opportunity in the review system to either: Mark an individual review as a "featured review" not just an item like we can do now Select specific people to be "featured reviewers" These reviews would be shown at the top and be differentiated some how. Hi There, A few months ago there was an option, featured topics. After an update van IPB that block was gone. Now I can insert back featured topics, but then I have to make a selection with 'most recent', 'most viewed', .. and I can't leave that option empty. So random featured topics are gone.. A few months ago the featured topics let see random topics who were selected as featured. Is there an option to find this option back of in a later update? Many of our members stay asking for it.. It was a very good and nice option.
