Ghost Face got a reaction from Pjo in Advanced Tags & Prefixes
Yes, definitely! That's actually a core feature I was expecting IPS to have but was surprised it didn't.

Ghost Face got a reaction from TrixieTang in Prefix
Is there any reason why IPS doesn't have a prefix system? It's like a core feature of every forum software and I don't think I've ever come across a forum that doesn't use prefixes.

Ghost Face reacted to opentype in Urgently request: Changes in "Agree with Cookies" for the regulatory authorities request
Amazingly, that means to mass-collect personal data (like IP addresses from guests), which should violate the GDPR itself.

Ghost Face reacted to Randy Calvert in Archiving Topics by Printing to PDF
I generally keep all software logged things like IP address, last edit history, etc forever. As you can see... it's not a lot of storage space for those sorts of things. Even most shared hosting services would not have a problem storing the database. 😄
Now... Apache and server level logs can get MUUUUUCH bigger. Those I don't keep beyond a few weeks.

My site has just shy of 2M posts from over 20 years. The post table contains 1.9G worth of data. Basically for every million posts, it is about 1GB of database space for the post table itself. The entire database is 6.5GB... including the conversion mappings for Xenforo -> IPB, keeping a permanent edit log, IP log, etc.
Another site has similar metrics in terms of post to storage ratio.
Now... attachments, avatars, etc are a whole different story. 😄

Ghost Face got a reaction from Rikki in Improve Notification Settings Performance
The user experience of the accordion menu on the notification settings page is really bad in my opinion. Whenever you click on one of the settings to expand the menu, it feels like it's lagging for a short period of time. I know that there is a loading indicator on the right side of the menu, but you can barely notice it because the menu expands too fast. (Which is good in theory but feels weird in practice)
I think this could be improved by expanding the menu and show the loading state on the already expanded accordion menu. Maybe even show a skeleton loading state for the notification settings?

Ghost Face got a reaction from Ravion in Pre-fill forum topic from a template?
You could set up a form and have it posted automatically in the forum of your choice.

Ghost Face reacted to All Astronauts in Spacious ACP/Widgets
It's a hitch with hex2rgb template plugin and PHP 8. I'm pretty sure IPS have patched it with the 4.6.10 release (beta right now but probably final on Monday or Tuesday).
After you upgrade, see if this bug still pops - if it does, give a yell.

Ghost Face reacted to LiquidFractal in IPB native Points System (IP.Subeconomies? IP.Points?)
Perhaps this is a pipe dream, but as sub-economies have proven to be a very effective way of hijacking goal-oriented psychology I would love to see a native points system in IPB.
In such an application one could develop different "banks" for different types of points systems depending on the nature of your website. Examples:
"credits" (for purchasing services, Store products, exchanging for cash donations to relevant charities) tokens (for gambling, buying bling for their online personae) hours (if you're like me, you sell hours of tuition and/or consultation) How might these points be accumulated/awarded? Examples:
buying blocks of tokens/credits/hours in the Store buying Store products: buy product X and get Y amount of credits in points system Z having the highest-rated answers in a Q/A Support forum having the highest reputation in a given forum Awarding points to people who invite new members to your community completing courses or other certifications Other ideas:
Targeted emails to certain groups, or certain individuals when credits/tokens/hours are at X or 0 - time to get more!) Targeted emails to people indicating they've been awarded free tokens/credits/etc. Promotions where points are awarded under special circumstances from dates X to Y Toss tokens into a (virtual) fight pit and watch your community fight for them. Cue the oldschool Star Trek fight music. Dance, puppets, daaaaance! mwuahahaha) Hijacking goal-oriented psych--err, offering points could be a great way to spur development and participation in one's community. They could also obviously be integrated into other apps (or other apps could make use of points) as part of competitions, e.g., submitting the highest-rated photos, articles, blog posts, etc. The possibilities go on and on!
As some know there have been a couple of third-party devs who have made Points systems, but I have come to think that if one is going to embed something like this into a community (let alone a business) I wouldn't want to trust it to anyone but the core developers for updates and stability.
I obviously can't speak for others, but I for one would be happy to pay for this as an additional (optional) IPS module, similar to the way IP.Downloads is offered.

Ghost Face reacted to Jim M in Domain replacement
You get 1 free license URL reset every 6 months with an active license. Beyond that there is a charge of $15 to combat abuse of people license swapping/hopping for applications, support, etc... which was/has been an issue. You also get a Test URL with a self-hosted license.
We, of course, are rather understanding as we aren't going to get rich off these $15 reset prices 🙂 and like here, can change it when it is brought up when there is a good reason for it.

Ghost Face reacted to Lindy in Your support is AWFUL
I'm sorry for the delay and your frustration. Your transaction was caught by our fraud screening filters with an unusually high risk score. This transaction should have been automatically declined, which would have provided immediate feedback. I apologize for the lack of communication.
As noted in your ticket, we have manually approved your second transaction. We appreciate the opportunity.

Ghost Face got a reaction from ZLTRGO in [Commerce]Fee for payment options
The EU can't even keep up with their GDPR law, not to forget the countless cookie popups where most of them don't even have any logic behind them. I think as long as this isn't enforced more strictly, I don't think anyone has to worry about something like surcharging payment fees unless you're a multi-million company, if even that.
That's just my personal opinion though and doesn't represent the law obviously.

What do you think about creating an option to add prefixes in front of the topic name in different colors? to choose from in some sections of the forum? something like in the attachment. I think this is a very useful feature and needed.

Ghost Face got a reaction from Grafidea in Optimization for speed
I don't think it's too hard to do. Tools that do exactly this already exist and are used in the most modern javascript frameworks such as NextJS.

I agree.
I get horrible results on localhost. I'll probably get a better score inside the live enviroment after optimizing everything, but still.

I have a simple method that works. You can hide the "x" button using CSS.
.ipsReact_unreact{display:none!important;}
