That isnt something we would do. While I understand it may work for you in the browser, it doesn't make it correct. mov and mp4 are 2 different formats
Ok, I understand, then I suppose there would need to be an actual file conversion going on for this to work properly.

I think Gallery on cloud installation should take care of MOV and other formats.
Yes but it doesn't work automatically when a user attaches a video to a post in the forum. Also available only starting with the $229/month "Team" plan.

Is that correct?
Yes however all you need to do is change the file extension from .mov to mp4 and the files become play the files. So the files are perfectly playable in Chrome, it's just that Chrome does not understand the .mov extension.

Thats a question you would need to ask of google. The issue is not one of the software, but rather the browser
I agree - although I suppose that it would be nice if there was an option in the Invision Community to automatically convert .mov file extensions to .mp4 so that unknowledgeable members could have a seamless experience. 🙂

Interesting idea. I found the following plugin that works with imgur:

We are experiencing a significant DDoS attack (4.5 million requests) which we are taking steps to mitigate.
Thanks Matt. Doesn't AWS protect against DDoS attacks? https://aws.amazon.com/shield/

I don't understand why, like for the downtime on December 23rd, while under "History & Incidents", the downtime for invisioncommunity.com was tracked, the downtime for the U.S. Cloud service (which I'm using) is not tracked, so that it says the uptime is 100% when it is not - far from it.

The issue has been on and off all morning. There was another half hour of downtime from around 11:36 am to 12:05 am CEST.

Question about that gif animation: while Olivia is typing her answer, we're not seeing "Olivia is typing" in the top window, is that because her post is too short to trigger the Real time Who's Typing feature?
I suppose that ideally, if I'm watching a thread, I should see that someone is typing something, wait, and when the answer is submitted, I end up seeing the answer pop up without having to refresh.

Sometimes, new members mistakenly comment on an article when really their question is completely unrelated and belongs in a forum instead. I wish there was a way to move their comment to a forum.

And this morning, again, before seeing any notifications, I can see some notifications that are bold and some that are not even though I never saw these notifications before - nor read those topics - since they occurred at night.

If you disable any 3rd party and check on a default theme, are you seeing the same?
So yes, same behavior with the stock Invision template, all plug-ins disabled. I made a video I can provide you if that helps?

I will give it a try.

Then refresh the page you mention there, and all the items there will not be bold
Ok, so that's not my experience. The items in mysite.com/notifications/ stay bold no matter how many time I click the bell icon or refresh that page. Once I've read the topic, that topic title is no longer bold on the page mysite.com/notifications/

Open the notifications section and refresh the page. You will see they are all read
It sounds like you may be talking about the notification pop-up menu you get to by clicking the bell icon?
I am talking about the page mysite.com/notifications/ here.

When you opened the topic did you go to the last page (or the one with the newest posts)?
I clicked on the topic title in the forum, which takes me to the newest unread post.

These would be read/unread notifications, rather than read/unread topics 🙂
Ok so after a few tests I can confirm that this is not how it works here.
If I view my notifications, I can see that one is bold and it is an unread topic. It doesn't matter how many times I open the notification pop-up menu or refresh the notifications page, that notification stays bold until I read the topic (by going to the forum, and reading the topic) - then it's no longer bold.
So it seems like the bold characters on the Notification page (not pop-up menu) indicate a topic that was unread?
Solution to play .mov files in Chrome?

Yes, I understand that, however a solution can (and hopefully will) be implemented. For example if I upload the same video in Facebook, Facebook automatically converts the video so that it plays back in any browser. Users are used to this, and our Mac-based members don't understand why they can upload a video in a Facebook group but can't upload that same video in our Invision Community.
My understanding is that that is something that Invision already does for the Gallery, so hopefully that feature will be added to the forum as well in the not-too-distant future. I remember discussing this with Charles during a Live Topic last year.
