Next time anybody suggests that the Invision Community team doesn't listen, send them to this article. There's so much here that I've seen people bring up over the past year. What an amazing product. You lovely, lovely people.

    Hi,
The majority of my traffic is via mobile devices like the majority of websites now.
However when using Fluid View on a mobile device the forum category list is missing.
How can the majority of my traffic navigate from forum to forum using the fluid option which you have recommended above in recommendation number 3?
If visitors and site members cannot achieve this then surely this has to be a bug to restrict mobile users from navigating forums?

    Hi, thanks for the reply.
I've modified the article to be a little clearer.
If you use our cloud hosting, then you are using a US service. However, if you collect data from EU citizens (as in allow them to register and use the site) then you may want to research what your responsibilities are there. You might choose to follow compliance just to be on the safe side. It's really not that hard and there's a good bit of data out there already.
Take a look at this article, for instance.

IPS can also provide the Developers API support, so the other members could participate in developing the global app - especially IPS already have its own IPS Developer Resources. With the right strategy, IPS can win the challenge against the centralized social networks and instant messengers.

And you guess that the community forums provide you any kind of privacy? I suppose your answer is also applicable for any website with cookies.

Another reason: Facebook is not anonym. There are a lot of things in our lives that we would not share with our real names. E. g. health, family planning etc. This part will never be covered by Facebook entirely, in all parts of our live.

The main reason to not use Facebook/Twitter/Google+ is to fight against centralization of Internet, which hurts freedom of speech. Privacy issues and data ownership are other extremely important reasons.
I'm really glad that we have IPS as an alternative community building tool. I also hope that IPS will eventually have built-in functionality to interact with Diaspora and Mastodon (decentralized alternatives to Facebook and Twitter).

Until they started adding all these colour and gender versions, I never once associated the emoji with an actual colour/gender representation, but now they've forced an association... does that mean I have to post the same emoji in 5 colours in both genders so that I don't offend some specific person who gets offended over a colour or gender of an emoji.
Anyway, not that's its an IPS problem.
Its the old, lets fight putting people in a box by making more boxes. Works every time... not.

This is the first blog entry by @Daniel F and he was a bit nervous writing it. I am sure he'll hate me saying that
But I think he did a great job and the feature will be really useful for those who heavily use our Downloads app.

Can I move all members of group A to club A? As of now we have group functionality but it would be very nice to have some kind of cross moving of members from groups to club directly through ACP. - Thanks

    Hi Joel,
    1) Yes, I didn't see the point in restricting content where you do not have guest permission as you may want to "tease" your social media audience into signing up.
    2) I'll sort that today. Rikki was still tweaking it yesterday.
    3) I'll have a good think about this. My fear is that it'll then mean your Facebook page stops being a curated list of really interesting things and just becomes an RSS feed with no custom content, images and so on. This will harm your organic reach and turn off your social media audience. Perhaps I could look at a way to promote when you use a specific item tag, all good ideas to explore for future releases.
    4) I am very familiar with Facebook marketing. I've learned a lot in my own time over the past year as I really am interested in this and I also manage a few Facebook pages for friends to learn more and experiment with what works and what does not. I have about a year's worth of experience and training that I can use to help our customers become successful. I realise this sounds like a Facebook advert that links to a landing page with a PayPal button to join my seminar, but it's true and the information will be free.
    5) It's all in the templates, baby.
    6) Actually, no. You need to think of the Our Picks page like you would a Facebook wall in that it will show to everyone (well, I guess you could at App > Module level turn off permissions). My feeling is that you may want to tease people, and only showing them what they can already see is restricting the feature. So it's up to you as the community manager to share to your entire community what you are comfortable sharing. My thought is that a truly private area like a moderators lounge, or Secret Lair is something you'll never really WANT to promote from.
When you are about to promote something without all permissions, you are informed:
    7) Yeah, good idea we can do that.
    8) When you re-promote an item, it will not add a new row, it will just bump up that item. If you have "Evergreen" content that you share regularly, you'd end up with hundreds of duplicate items hanging around. You are told when promoting when it was last shared. I guess we could keep a complete history of all the times it was shared if we feel that is useful information.

    9) It's paginated. 25 per page, but I may increase that.

I must say, IPS really is taking the lead as a forum software to integrating it with the main social media platforms out there.
    Two remarks:
    1) instagram. I hear they do not have an posting API, that is unfortunate, but as soon as that becomes available, if ever, that would be my number one request.
    2) is it possible to have replies on Facebook/twitter posted back into the topic?

As Charles said, once we gauge interest, we can look at other social networks. I wrote the system to allow you to drop in a new class and it can then be used.
Great feature suggestion. Right now it's locked to one Facebook page and one Twitter account, but I like this idea for the future.
