Sonya* reacted to Jim M in Staff Notes for what content
I take back what I said 😅, I thought this was a different feature . I need more coffee to get past this midday slump. It is indeed elsewhere and the guide is correct. Thank you, terabyte!

Sonya* got a reaction from TDBF in Buy button for subscription is not shown
I had a subscription plan in the past that has been deleted. There were no active subscribers on the plan as I removed it. Now, the users who purchased this subscription in the past cannot buy another subscription on my site. They do not see the button “Buy”.
I went and removed all previous expired subscriptions from one user. He has literally nothing in his client account now. But the user still cannot buy any subscription on my site. Is there anything else I should do, to allow users with a “deleted” subscription plan in the past to buy one that exists?
I know that I can create an invoice manually, but I would rather go through all inactive subscribes of the deleted plan and allow all of them to buy on my site again.
Thanks!

The Subscription system is seeing that you have one but is expired. Odd. I will need to escalate this to get it reviewed. Could you please ensure SFTP/FTP access details are correct on file.

I do not see that they are currently missing. Please let us know next time they go missing so we can review.

Sonya* got a reaction from Thomas P in Will blocking guests from viewing threads also block search engines?
It sounds like a doorway technique, called cloaking. You will be penalized by search engines if you try it.

Thanks Sonya. I have added this information to the bug report

Here's another good example from a random site that shows different payment options in case IPS needs inspiration on this commonly-accepted practice:

Sonya* got a reaction from Jimi Wikman in Stock Replies: ACP Permissions for moderators
I would like my moderators to create and manage stock replies. Since stock replies can be created in ACP only, I have given them an ACP access for the area:
This is how they now see the area in ACP if there are no replies. Moderators cannot create new replies.
If there are replies created by administrator, they can only see the list, no editing.
Do I miss any other permission here, or does it work as designed? The permission is called “Manage Stock replies”, but there is nothing my moderators can manage here. 🤨

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I can confirm this should be further reviewed and I have logged an internal bug report for our development team to investigate and address as necessary, in a future maintenance release.

Sonya* reacted to Seylerg in V5 image sizes
Hello wonderful staff. In my excitement for V5 I am wondering if you could provide us with the ideal images sizes for any sections that will allow us to add them as topic covers, course covers, etc…. I would love to be able to create templates for all the different image sizes that would be best for V5. I will be using Canva to create a master template and could even possibly share the templates with others. If you have a list of the image areas and ideal sizes that would be great.
thanks

Sonya* reacted to JohnCourt in Enforcing Uploaded Image File Names
I have a pet peeve, images uploaded to our gallery display their file name as the title. For example a member uploads their image and doesn't change the title image, so it then displays something like DSC2849.jpg instead of for example "Oak Cabinet".
I have rules displayed for image uploading in each gallery, but they are apparently ignored. Is there any way to auto enforce changing the title of an image uploaded to our galleries? Our community is gallery and image heavy, visual arts. It drives me crazy that folks are lazy and just use their default image file title. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Can you let us adjust the layout?
or at least center the buttons in mobile view?

Sonya* reacted to asigno in Feature request: Automate/Schedule recurring bulk email
It would be very useful if we were able to automate regular recurring bulk email. E.g I want to send a specific email to certain users when certain filters are met and would like to do this on a regular basis. Currently we can only do this as a one off email.

GBoard is the default keyboard of the Google Android OS (it's on Pixel devices, it's on most OnePlus devices, plus others that don't massively deviate from the stock OS)
'Samsung Keyboard' is the native keyboard on the Samsung version of the Google Android OS, but can be overridden by the manual installation of GBoard from Google Play, just like SwiftKey is available for all Android devices.

Sonya* got a reaction from Michael Collins in "List-unsubscribe" in the email header
@Marc Stridgen, for whatever reason, we all have users in our communities who mark community email address as spam. Whether it's subscriber forgetfulness or not being able to handle the account settings, it doesn't change the fact. They mark the emails as spam, and that hurts the sender's reputation and deliverability. 🙂

The issue we know at this point is when people are using the swiftkey keyboard

Sonya* reacted to opentype in Image compression
ACP → System → Files → Image Settings
That’s where you set the compression level(s). In addition, you can set the maximum pixel size for attachment uploads. Both of these options combined get you pretty far.

Sonya* reacted to TheLlamaman in "List-unsubscribe" in the email header
This happens with my community too.
I am using Amazon SES. Some people, probably out of laziness or lack of awareness, mark their notification emails (event new private message ones) as spam which ends up hurting reputation.
I have a suppression list setup on the SES side to prevent sending of emails in the future to the offending email address, however it does not stop the reputation being damaged in the first place.
A list-unsubscribe in the email would absolutely help here.

Sonya* got a reaction from Michael Collins in "List-unsubscribe" in the email header
Users do not always understand the difference. They mark emails as spam because it is easier and faster in comparison to unsubscribe.
Amazon SES allows you to have 10% of bounces before your account is at risk. But it allows only 0.5% of spam complaints before you've got issues with them. The account reputation is not so much about invalid mails, but about valid emails that have marked you as spam.
You can clean your database from invalid emails. But there is no service to clean users who have marked your emails as spam. Unsubscribing with one click could at least lower the complaint rate. 😉
