Services like this did not exist several years ago when those old licenses were available. That is why we switched to the Standard license type so we could offer more than just "technical support" like we did before.

We are not taking anything away from Perpetual or Lifetime license holders and are keeping our promises to them as they were made at purchase time.

Yes we can certainly look into doing that too :)

Keep in mind only admins/mods can report someone as spam and it takes more than just one or two manual reports to flag a user as a spam account.

Will there be some way for it to be able to deal with false reports? Say someone goes to a bunch of sites I'm a member at and reports me as a spammer on those sites. Will the system be able to detect that that's bogus?

Your interpretation of what WallBase said is your own. I take it to mean that so far, he's had no problems with it so to him, it's working perfectly.

So how about calming down some, it was really unnecessary to call him ignorant.

Done. Will be in 3.0.2. Too many template, lang and file edits to release a quick 'patch'.

Reputation very needs two another settings:

Example: my member started topic in test category and she got four negative points (it was joke from other members). Her reputation is now affected, she has -4 for topic in test category! I deleted topic but her reputation is still -4. There is little flame war about this on my board, I had to disable negative points for now.

We will be providing more information on this soon. Our priorities have been with IPB and getting it fixed up and stable for as many customers as possible first. :)

[Originally posted in the Tracker as Report ID #17058: Portal Page Title]

I'm sure this is "normal behavior," and not a "bug," but it doesn't work very well...

Portal set as default app and being used as one-and-only home page for the website...

You have to include the name of your website in the 'IPB Portal Page Title' box or you end up with a very non-descriptive title for your website's landing page. The inclination is to name the portal "Portal," but now your website's landing page is simply "Portal." Not good.

The problem is that when you add the name of your website to the title (e.g., "MyAmazingSite Portal"), you now get a breadcrumb trail that looks like this:

    MyAmazingSite > MyAmazingSite Portal

    or

    MyAmazingSite Forums > MyAmazingSite Portal

Redundant, to say the least, since you really want something like this:

    MyAmazingSite > Portal

Again, not necessarily a "bug," but shouldn't there be more control over the Portal's page title when it's a given that some websites are going to be using it as the default app / landing page?

I believe I have been a customer since 04. I usually do my own upgrades, but life happened lol, and I had IPB do my upgrade to 3.0.1. First, they worked so fast, hours really only. Not only am I happy with how fast they worked, but that they made me verify that I had a backup- that was awesome. Then, the board...wow. I liked 3.0. I LOVE 3.0.1. In 3.0 I had to modify the skins to show authors in my new content- 3.0.1 has an amazing amount of information, more than I could have ever hoped for. I love it so much, as do my nearly 400 members. I am so thankful to all of you IPB employees and everyone here that test the software, I couldn't ask for a better platform to run my board from. Thank you so very much, keep up the great work, and I look forward to many more years running the most awesome board software, ever!!

tranceandy reacted to Brandon D in Scrolling down just to see/press the "Post New Topic"/"Add Reply" button
Moving the post button out of the work flow is counter intuitive. When filling out any form, electronic or not, it's natural to work from the top down. In this case, after you write your post content you would look down for the submit button. I wouldn't mind seeing the attachment system hidden like the post options, which would clear up a bit of space between the editor and the post button.

If a post button was added above the editor (which I'm not against), then the one below would need to remain, and it would have to be added in such a way that it doesn't clutter up the post screen.

Lindy, what about something where the user can check off a list of things that match their problem..

Please choose from the list what best matches the issue you are having. ( ) Is your board offline, inaccessible or giving errors? ( ) Are you having a problem getting into the AdminCP? ( ) Has your board been hacked, attacked or in some other way compromised? ( ) etc ( ) None of the above. Picking the wrong item from the list can cause delays in your ticket. If you are unsure of what to pick, then pick none of the above.

A few like there where the person can choose what best matches their problem (similar to the list you have but could be after they have submitted the ticket the first time and before the final submit. "None of the above" could be pre-selected and would cover things like low priority items. Obviously it's hard to cover all high priority items, but if there are 3 for high priority that are generic enough to cover a wide range (but specific enough to eliminate false positives) then that could potentially help prioritize some of the tickets.

Obviously the ones marked "None" might benefit from a fast review by a staff member to see if it's a high priority so it can be bumped up in importance, while leaving the rest of the tickets alone, but no system is perfect.

Hope something in this post is of some use, be nice if it helped to improve the ticket times, even if only a little bit. I've generally never needed to submit a ticket for problems on my boards before, but I can imagine how the customer must feel when it is an important issue and every minute seems like forever.

Welcome to the IPS forums, have a free (+) from me.

I've been using IPB for a number of years now and am quite pleased with the product. Yes, there are times when they don't include an option that I think they should or make changes that I wish they wouldn't, but that's a part of life with any product. I'm one of those who was hoping IPB would go on one more testing release before going final, but oh well. IPS definitely stands behind its product and does its best to fix the bugs that are found, no matter how insignificant some bugs may be.

When you take the plunge, I encourage you to give consideration to the community suite, as they will give you an up front discount of $15 (you get IP.Board, IP.Blog and IP.Gallery) and then the optional renewal fee is $25/6 months. After the first year, you will end up saving $50/year that way. Of course, renewal is optional but when you do decide to renew (even if it's a year after the invoice has expired), you just pay $25 and everything is considered up to date again.

So welcome to the IPS world and I hope you enjoy your stay here. :)

tranceandy reacted to Arun Kumar in Feature Request: Get active topics for
In IPB 2.3.6 we had an option to list active topics for "today", "past week", "past month" and so on. This feature seems to have been removed in 3.0.1 and our members are vouching for that feature. I don't know why that feature has been removed. The only option in IPB 3 is to list the active topics in the past 24 hours. The filter option to get the active topics beyond that is not available in the results page. I have attached a screenshot of that option from 2.3.6. I hope this feature will be added in the future release.

You have an excellent point to be honest. I wouldn't have looked at that suggestion twice if it was submitted through the ticket system, but there are obviously a lot of people who agree since it was posted here, so I'm forced to reconsider my stance. Even if I don't think it has any value, features are driven by customer demand.
