  1. For a cron job (shared or dedicated server) you can use this line:

    mysqldump -u DatabaseUser -p'DatabasePassword' DatebaseName > ExportFileName.sql

    Place this into the command space.  You might have to edit this in text wrangler or equivalent.

    Looking for a solution for automatic backups. Im moving my site across to a new VPS which only takes daily backups and only stores for one day. Would like to set something up where automatic backups can be made and preferably sent to a destination. Is this possible?

    I am surprised that this is not possible in the admin panel.  I was told that we use a cron job within the server itself.  Our WP sites are backed up via the admin side though.

    Wow!! Thank you so much for this!!

    I'm not sure how to proceed though 😩

    I feel you. I just am not sure how to go about it because nothing is broken for me. I'll see if any of the members can jump on a chat.

    Interesting perspective. I don't agree that the advertising is a "cancer." It's allowed me to run my community full time. But I get what you're saying 😉

    Advertising makes the world go around.

    "Sorry, you aren't permitted to download this file"

    The way you treat your clients shows exactly were are you going to! IPS is obsolete (just like T1000). Asking every 6 month for a complete suite more than 100$ only to have access to files for which I PAID AND CAN'T get them? What if I lost my backups? Huh?

    I like the format Word Press uses - you can download an app and/or install it on the admin side.  In this fashion, you have both options.

    It's a little unfair to think of any app as being isolated in terms of updates.

    Even though Gallery hasn't had a 'tear down' style revamp for 2 years, it doesn't mean that it's not received any updates. Simply by being part of the Invision Community ecosystem, it receives all the updates that the core gets, including UI updates, notification updates, performance updates, etc.

    Quite simply we do not feel that Gallery needs a major re-invention at this time.

    I didn't state that it needed a major revamp nor do I believe that it does.

    However, some aspects could be improved, which has been pointed out by users for quite a while now.  In particular, the view of member albums looks dated compared to the forum.

  6. Gallery Last Updated 1002 Days Ago, 2 Years 9 Months

    Unless I am wrong, the gallery was last revamped on 29 January 2018 - that's 1002 days ago, or 2 years and 9 months ago.  Yes, there have been fixes and patches, but nothing new and no suggestions implemented, etc.

    I feel odd paying to renew my license and having to pay for this app.   It's almost as if IPS has taken this app for granted and has forgotten about it.  IPS itself doesn't even use on on their own community forum - out of site and out of mind. . .a bowl of not too good. 😐

    Honestly, that will be extremely annoying for those who’s playing the quiz. I won’t add this.

    I didn't ask you to add it.  I asked if it was possible.

    We have dozens of sites and your excellent app would make a nice addition, however I would like to know if it's possible (for me) to add Google ads to them and how that can be done?

    Implementation question. I use Adsense with an ad in the page header location.  However when users select "Unread Content" to view new posts the header ad disappears above the thread header. No option is available for this location in the ad setup section.  I suspect this behavior is because the Unread Content is dynamic, created on the fly when the users click on Unread Content.  Would this work if placed only on the Unread Content page, or end up displaying multiple header ads on the home landing page for the forums?

    you have to add the block to that page.

    I applied the patch but I still cannot login...not sure if my FB account is already tagged or what.  If someone has a few minutes and could try to register with FB on my site to see if it is working, I would appreciate it!  www.7173mustangs.com

    I'll delete new account as soon as we're done...

    Nice site.  I have a Boss 351 in a 1969 Mach1.

    Anyone interested in circling back on this threaded reply idea? 😬

    I love this concept because you can directly see someone's reply versus scrolling page to page to page. If we could see members' replies directly under the original comment that'd be 🔥

    It also means a lot more content could fit on a single page.

    Thoughts?

    Like you look and feel of your site.  Is is powered by SuperGrid or SuperBlocks?

    I love the new text box as it allows you to get creative.  Yes, you need to have a grasp of HTML and CSS but it's really not that difficult and there are loads of generators online to help you get the look you want.  I created a simple box with a welcome message inside - this:

    image.thumb.png.a9a71231c9d1b35741b173fa6ff2384e.png

    The HTML part is:

    <div class="box">Welcome to Movie Buffs</div>

    And the CSS part is:

    .box {
    	font-family: Tahoma, Geneva, sans-serif;
    	text-align: center;
    	font-size: 36px;
    	color: #FFF;
    	font-weight: bold;
    	line-height: 100px;
    background: rgb(103,9,121);
    background: radial-gradient(circle, rgba(103,9,121,1) 0%, rgba(61,91,175,1) 47%, rgba(103,9,121,1) 100%, rgba(0,212,255,1) 100%);
    }

    The CSS goes into the Advance section below what is already there. I also removed all of the padding using the drop down controls.  It's a really nice way to get creative.

    Thanks for sharing

    Can we get the Page Builder: Text Widget with the rich text editor or can we get the WYSIWYG Widget with the advanced settings of the Page Builder: Text?

    image.png.690b8b7204fa3245b075e7f6f60cbc82.png

    It feels awfully odd to get a text box where you can't edit anything about the text and call it a Page Builder: Text.  What is the use case for that?

    Don't see why in 2020 everything that can utilize WYSIWYG doesn't utilize it.  Make it simple and easy to use.
