The skin tone dropdown is just part of standard emoji support. No, we haven't removed the ability to add your own - we love  too much

It wasn't our decision either - you should check out any modern smartphone or social media site
For what it does matter though, I think the addition of different skin tones and genders to many emojis is great... all the emojis representing professions being white and male was a bit ridiculous.

Perhaps an effort to support unicode standard emojis that people are used to seeing on mobile devices / social networks.
The unicode standard has 5 skin tone modifiers: Light, Medium-Light, Medium, Medium-Dark, Dark.

It was something we thought about but ultimately there wasn't enough time for 4.2.0. Definitely a great idea for a future release, or maybe something a third party developer could write a plugin for using the data that is available

The admin's device is not logged and the user does not receive a notification nor will see a log.
The "Disable Automatic Login" button also doesn't block a device, it just means you have to log in again if you go back to that device.

Though we think we're pretty darn good at what we do, we can't be good at everything. There's a lot of great services out there that are superb at what they do, and it makes sense for us to integrate with them where it adds value for our own customers.

As an aside, given that 4.2 isn't even out as a beta yet, the screenshots and updated theme are already looking really polished.

This is the first blog entry by @Daniel F and he was a bit nervous writing it. I am sure he'll hate me saying that
But I think he did a great job and the feature will be really useful for those who heavily use our Downloads app.

It doesn’t change existing functionality at all. It’s a new section for your site, if you want to use it.
The point of social groups (here called “clubs”) is that members can set them up themselves. They create their own community within your community, so to speak.
So there also isn’t much to set up really. You can however define what club types members can create, what apps they can use and what moderator options the club owners will have. Everything else is done by your members when they create clubs.

The concept of these social groups has been around for ages, e.g. in vBulletin and people asked for a native IPS implementation for ages. IPS is just fulfilling that wish, not copying what this third party app “invented”.
Personally, I have been waiting for a native social groups feature. I would hate if IPS would not implement such a feature just because something similar is available from a third party vendor already. That shouldn’t be their concern.

It’s a core feature, so you don’t pay extra for it. What is available within the clubs (gallery, forums, blogs …) depends on whether you have these apps installed.
