Stan Jensen Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 When someone posts a link on Facebook and people click on it. They get the error as attached too many redirects, Please, what is the fix for this? am using safari on a mac. attached is a screenshot from my iPhone Thanks friends Stan
Stan Jensen Posted April 2, 2023 Author Posted April 2, 2023 so no one else has had to deal with this?
Jim M Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 What is the link here in question? Have you had your server provider disable all custom redirects and rewrites?
Stan Jensen Posted April 2, 2023 Author Posted April 2, 2023 when there is a link on facebook, people get that. "Have you had your server provider disable all custom redirects and rewrites?" Should I ask them to do that?
Jim M Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 Just now, Stan Jensen said: when there is a link on facebook, people get that. We would need an example link. Just now, Stan Jensen said: Should I ask them to do that? Yes. That will help you eliminate anything you’re server is imposing on the software.
Stan Jensen Posted April 2, 2023 Author Posted April 2, 2023 (edited) wonder what happens if i post a link here? test https://clubadventist.com Edited April 2, 2023 by Stan Jensen
Nathan Explosion Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 if you want a realistic reproduction...post a link to the Facebook post that has the link that then results in the issue you are seeing.
Nathan Explosion Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 Reproduction steps: Go to Facebook Create a post Add the URL above Post the post Click the link Result:
opentype Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 Seems to be the query string. https://clubadventist.com/forums/?something=test
Nathan Explosion Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 (edited) Let's take FB out of the equation....here's the link they produce: https://clubadventist.com/forums/?fbclid=IwAR21m6WaHbIaXoDb7bFlXMn6da6W5AnNIGV6I6tW0YmLcZIaXlgRyYTP2tI Click it - same issue. Take the long string out of the equation: https://clubadventist.com/forums/?fbclid=1 Same issue. Add that query string to someone else's (who happens to be self-hosted) site URL https://www.ynwa.tv/?fbclid=1 No issue. Let's take that query string out of the equation: https://clubadventist.com/forums/?sausages Same issue. What are the contents of your .htaccess file that you have at the root of your Invision installation? Edited April 2, 2023 by Nathan Explosion
KT Walrus Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 (edited) Maybe you have a bad "Friendly URL" installed (in a third-party add-on?) that tries to match all query strings? This would cause an infinite redirect as the FURL would keep redirecting to itself. If you don't have any third-party add-ons, nevermind... Anyway, just a thought. Edited April 2, 2023 by KT Walrus
Stan Jensen Posted April 3, 2023 Author Posted April 3, 2023 Thanks for the help, everyone. Here is the resolution, am sure others might have the same issue

TDBF Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 (edited) I'm getting this issue on this website when trying to access the client area. https://invisioncommunity.com/clientarea/ I can click on the Client Area button, but if I click on the 'Client Area' again, I get a page 'Problem loading Page, too many redirects'. Have you tried a different browser? I can’t replicate this.
