Markus Jung Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I would like to have a block to insert an activity stream in a page (for example index) to show some new activities. Configuration should allow to set a number of activites to show (less than the feeds show in default), exanded or condensed view etc.
Rikki Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 This is definitely on our 'would like' list, although we have to balance it with performance concerns
Joel R Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Yes please. Expanding content discovery to the actual apps (where content creation occurs) can only add to the richness of the entire suite.
Markus Jung Posted January 23, 2017 Author Posted January 23, 2017 Any news about this? To show a stream on the homepage would be really great to show especially new visitors how active the site really is.
Simon Harvey Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 I would be really keen to see this too - giving site-wide activity in the sidebar rather than just forum posts would make a massive difference. Thanks a lot.
Simon Woods Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Is this what everybody is asking for? https://typography.guru/
Markus Jung Posted April 6, 2017 Author Posted April 6, 2017 No. That is only the activity stream as homepage, not a widget/block. I still hope for 4.2...

We could have auto updating widget streams where we can specify the time or a normal sidebar refresh type where new content will show once all the widgets refresh. Hope to see this, thank you!
Simon Woods Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Wait... multiple widgets on one page with refreshing feeds? Or am I still misunderstanding?
Claudia999 Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Is there such a setting for blocks now in 4.2?

alfanexus Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Still hoping for this The widget blocks are very powerfull in making a homepage that just suits every purpose, but a sidewide whats new (forum, blogs, clubs , reactions) widget is really missing. As it is now we have to setup blogs for every single kind og content, and thats messy.
socceronly Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 The option, rather than a block would be an to make the Activity page multi column
AlexWebsites Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 i was going to add this as a new topic in feedback but see it was already recommended. I am going to "piggy-back" on this topic and say that a block for activity stream would be great with some settings. Show expanded or condensed view Include or not include IPS apps; forums, system, gallery, etc., as installed. Include or not include member groups For performance reasons maybe not have it auto update but update every x amount of minutes or something like that. I haven't tried it but it may be possible to create something with pages blocks but would require some work.
Markus Jung Posted March 12, 2019 Author Posted March 12, 2019 Now we have 4.4 and still no widget for the activity stream. I will probably give Social Stream a try but would still prefer a native widget.
rgf100 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 And combine that with like information. Imagine a single block containing all the posts, comments, review replies, etc, that have got over X likes.
Markus Jung Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 I bought and tried Social Stream but the widget has limited functionality and the normal stream is on a separate page. Are there any plans for an interactive stream as an widget, together with thumbnails and images, a bit similar to social media streams and stories. Or perhaps something like an automated version of Our picks - with the possibility to react directly. The homepage needs to be more dynamic and interactive. Any news, is this still on your list, @Rikki?
