Breadfan Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Just wondering, is the 3.4.0 beta available to active clients? Thanks.
ZackL Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 http://internal34dev.invisionzone.com/ I think he meant a downloadable copy from the QA area here. I personally want to take a look at the IPS Connect feature so I can start implementing it on an account system I've been wanting to make.
bfarber Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 The process will go as follows (roughly):We have a test site (linked above) that you can test 3.4 at When we feel it is stable enough, we will upload 3.4 to our company forums 3.4 will be provided to our internal QA group (probably at the same time we update our company forums) Once our internal QA group stops finding a lot of bugs, we will open the release up for beta testing
Breadfan Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 ^^Oh ok..I saw "ordinary" clients reporting 3.4.0 bugs in the tracker so I was wondering.. :) I guess I missed the link.
gxgEric Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Is there a summary post that includes a summary of all the new features and improvements? Could someone link me if so? thanks in advance.
avro Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Is 3.4 feature complete? Or are new features still being added?

Tsvi Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Bah, I see that the structure of the links still kinda suck.. I remember that Matt (if I'm not mistaken) talked about changing the string in the URL when there's pagination. Here's an example from that 3.4 board: http://internal34dev.invisionzone.com/topic/32-discovering-new-page-style/page-2 He wanted to do it like that as he one mentioned, and it's better way to do it for SEO: http://internal34dev.invisionzone.com/topic/32-discovering-new-page-style/?page=2
bfarber Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 The changes that have been made in 3.4 are discussed in the blog. I don't know of a "summary post" outlining them at this time, but we typically do this when we make the final release. There are a couple of items that may yet be included in 3.4 which we've been waiting on (waiting on third parties primarily). If/when they are finalized, we will blog about them as well. Outside of that, however, 3.4 is effectively feature complete at this time.

Breadfan Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 Good to see not too many skin changes, at least on the first glimpse.
Rod. Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 IPB is loaded with features, more than any other forum platform out there. This package totally blows away the competition. I'm simply looking forward to all of the SEO enhancements, as that's the most important thing right now. Keep up the good work!
bfarber Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Good to see not too many skin changes, at least on the first glimpse. We specifically limited the changes on the front end to reduce the number of skin changes. The ones that will occur should be minimal (and semi-optional, in that your board will still function if you don't do them).
Makoto Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Can I throw a tiny suggestion in here? Add an extra page break when quoting users, maybe? Just to make it look.. prettier. When you quote someone now, you start typing right bellow the quote box, and it just feels odd to me. Of course I always nitpick at these small things, don't hate me for it please.

Why not directly handle it via CSS ;)

I could've sworn that that's exactly how it used to be and people complained about that too. :<
bfarber Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I could've sworn that that's exactly how it used to be and people complained about that too. :< They did - no matter which way we do this, someone feels it's "wrong". Either "the software should not be adding extra line breaks on its own" or "the software should throw an extra line break after quote boxes since everyone types them manually anyways". No matter which way we go here, it's always brought up by the other camp.
Marcher Technologies Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 the software should always allow me to enter line breaks, IMO the rest can burn, return/enter not working from inside quotes in RTE is intolerable..

No matter which way we go here, it's always brought up by the other camp. Could we poll it? I think more people would be in favor of adding the extra line break, but who knows Worst case scenario I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to patch myself, right? And of course I don't support making it an admin option.. that's just silly. The admin can make the simple edit himself because a line break doesn't need its own setting. Don't insult me so ><. I only suggest adding settings for sane and reasonable things.
Rimi Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Enter works inside (and outside) quotes. Try doing more than one inside a quote.
