Feature Request: Font size chooser
by Guest blair- 3 replies
- 1.8k views
Joomla recently introduced a nice little java applet to change font size, and it's been a common feature on blogs for a while. Accessibility is a real concern. Older visitors, or those with poor eyesight may have difficulty reading the default font. FireFox allows the font to be re-sized, but IE does not. Increasing the default font size, will create even more complaints. It's impossible to keep everyone happy. A simple font size selector would be a welcome feature.

is there an easy way to make the javascript indent nicely instead of having everything on 1 line or are these scripts available for download in a readable form? It's very hard to make adjustments into this now, I just spent an hour for doing a one-line adjustment... <_<

by Guest DawPi- 5 replies

I am greeting, today i have noticed the modified footer of the forum on IPB on one forum which is holding a licence: A tag was added up nofollow. With my sentence this breaking of the licence since there is no chance of the modification of the footer, but it more using of this tag. I would like to acquaint myself with your sentence for this subject. Whether it is worth writing ticket for IPSu with this information? ^_^

PM System - "Carbon Copy"
by Guest Luke- 2 replies
- 1.5k views
I was going through how the PM system works... One thing I can't understand is why in "msg_cc_users" in the "message_text" the member's name is stored there. When the PM is read it seems to go through these and fetch the member ID's... The member ID's are not stored along with it... So it isn't a matter of caching the data... Because of how it is stored, what happens if the display name or login name is changed? Either it no longer knows who it is anymore, or if another account has this name it will associate it with that ID. Why not just store the member ID's instead and fetch the display name? That way no matter if the login name or display name changes the associatio…

Invision Power Board is beyond the greatest of all Forums. I think that a couple things will make your customers much happier. Things like, more Custom BBCodes/Special Items, more Emoticons/Smilies, more Fonts, more Colors etc..etc.. When I first got into the IPB Community, I knew nothing. I wanted more smilies, fonts, colors and BBcodes/Special Items. I eventually had to look it up and found some sites. I still dont know how to add Fonts and Colors or think its possible. I think that if you gave people a start of at least 100+ smilies, more fun and unique BBCodes/Special Items, interesting Fonts and Colors, people would be much more happy and would have a better start…

[Future suggestion] Manage the links on the top, and ad static pages.
by Guest MindTooth- 4 replies
- 1.8k views
I would love to see that possibilities to rearrange the links on the top. Suggestion: Choose side.Create links to board content. (Forum, topics, etc.)Create links to static pages that uses the forum as the holder. (Ref. boardrules page)Arrange order (From left to right)Edit size, color, etc.A page called About Us, Rules, etc. should be on the right side. As the board is now, I can arrange the portal shortcut to be as nr. one on the left side. Please add more suggestions to this tread..

Number of Rates
by Guest TestingSomething- 16 replies

I was thinking that on profiles it told how many rates have been given to get to the member rating which is there. It apparently does not though, as I see it nowhere. That would be a good thing to have, I think.

Subscription System Feedback & Questions
by Guest ptrader- 0 replies
- 1.3k views
I run IPB for a non-profit organization and use the subscription system to manage access based on membership types. For me, the subscription manager does its job (most of the time) but doesn't quite perform the way I think it should. I was hoping some improvements could be considered. I have created several membership packages. The three I consider headaches are good for a membership year, which for us runs until March 31st annually. Initial membership for any given package works fine. It's when renewal period comes around (annually, for us) that we have major headaches. I spent about 12 hours creating manual transactions, fixing and cleaning up the registrations s…

IP.Blog or IPB.Blog?
by Guest Alex- 6 replies
- 2.7k views
Just thought Iwould bring this up, I remember a staff member posting somewhere that the products follow this rule (Might have been Matt) IP.Product (E.g. IP.Board) IPProduct.Module (E.g. IPB.Blog) If that is the case, shouldnt the copyright on blog downloads and gallery say IPB. and not IP. Correct me if I am mistaken

Just to let IPS Staff know that the IPS Forums Blogs are spammed with trackbacks (just one example here: http://forums.invisionpower.com/blog/ips_n...?showentry=1811 - 314 spams). There's a big cleanup to do.

I want a wiki 1 2
by Guest SecondSight- 29 replies
- 14.4k views
Hello ! More and more sites are now having their wiki system. Do you think it would be a good idea for IPS to create one ? IPS creates quality products. I'm sure it would create a quality wiki. :) Moreover, if it were made by IPS, wiki integration to IPB and upgrades wouldn't be a problem. What do you think of it ? Thank you ! :)

Feature request: assign posts to categories.
by Guest immortality- 5 replies
- 1.8k views
This is a bit hard to explain, and if it already exists then please tell me how to apply it myself, as I havent seen it anywhere in the ACP.... Anyway, in the Bug tracker you have this: Where people can choose several options to "categorize" a post (marked with red arrows). I'd like to have something like that, but of course, being able to choose the options to categorize the post. Does this already exist? Obviously it does here! How do I implement it myself? Thanks!

HTTP authentication

http://us.php.net/manual/en/features.http-auth.php One thing is that .htaccess does not really work with Windows servers. This could be a solution to those can't use htaccess and wants to protect the ACP. The username and password could be stored in conf_global.php or some other file or in the database.

Limiting Group Permissions in some sections only
by Guest AaronM- 3 replies
- 1.6k views
First off, love this software, fantastic work Ok, I recently used SMF forum software & it had the ability to set the user groups with different permissions in different sections on my forum, IPB does this as well however not for what I need What I'd like to see is the ability to reduce certain permissions for my main membergroup for the following reason I have a section for Members to post their Drabbles (Short fanfiction limited to 100 words) & to only allow the member who created the post/thread to be able to reply / add their next installment etc without other members posting in between each submission I then have a second area where all Members can respond…

Dynamic Custom BBCode
by Guest Luke- 17 replies
- 3.8k views
Instead of using "html replacement" provide a PHP plugin file. That way you can do custom dynamic things on-the-fly. I did this myself on my forums, but because of time it takes to upgrade a forum with modifications I removed it (and all modifications on the site). One of the "custom bbcodes" using the "dynamic bbcode" function was the "random" tag. It allowed members to specify different content every time the page refreshed. This was extremely popular in signatures. After I removed it I got a lot of complaints... Example of use: [random][img=http://www.mysite.com/image1.jpg[/img][?][img]http://www.mysite.com/image2.jpg[/img][?][img]http://www.mysite.com/image3.jpg…

Rethink Skin System
by Guest Luke- 12 replies
- 2.5k views
I didn't think about this until I had actually bought a skin from someone. Before it didn't make as much sense because I had made my own skins and the current skin system was sufficient. When you make changes to a skin it shows as "red" indicating that it's different from the root skin. With a custom skin there are already changes made by the skinner you hired (or bought a skin from), but you want to make custom changes to that skin to fit your custom requirements. You make a mistake and screw something up and go to revert it, only to find yourself reverting that bit to IPB's default instead of the skinners default. Oh god what do you do now.... Re-import the skin as a g…

Admin set user message for bounced email accounts
by Guest CFGuru- 9 replies
- 3.9k views
We require every forum member to have a valid, working, email address. I think if IPB had some means where the forum administrator could flag an account with a bad email address so that when the user logged in next time they would be directed to a message telling them to update their email address or they would not be able to post -- that would be an awesome feature.
