If these or similar tabs (2.3) wills till be used, it would be nice to be able to change which page comes up as default when clicking a tab. That way the pages used most often by admin x,y, or z will come right up rather than then needing to find the link on the page.

I hear x forum software is raising their price. Please don't do the same. I have IP Board, Blog, Downloads, and Gallery. My forum is a hobby and I'd hate to cute off updates for one or two of those in order to save.

Just came up with this from a thread I saw. But, I would like the ability for moderators to ban a user from a specific thread. Such debates can attract one-sided users that maybe a moderator just doesn't feel like dealing with.

I strongly recommend that you make a points system for IPB and not rely on the modding community to do it. It can only go so far as I do not think you guys at IPS would make support for anything that is not made by you and surely not some 3rd Party MOD. I know there are mods existant out there for a perfect points system, but there is something that I hope that you can utilize, which I believe cannot be done by the modding community, but it also not that complicated. It has been brought up time after time, but in each of those times, no one really knew anyway to do it. I've just noticed, the Admin tab in the ACP is rather poorly named, as there aren't but 2-3 tools there that aren't security related - perhaps name it "Security" or something of that sort? After all, the icon next to it is already a cop...

Some people, insert a lot of images into their signature, but if they don't insert line break, internet explorer deform your board layout (firefox is most intelligent, and adds automatically line break). Reply to announcements or globally viewable pinned topics

I use announcements to make sure as many people see certain info as possible because they can be viewed in all forums. Would it be possible to have either a. an option to allow an announcement to be replied to like a topic or b. Pinned topics that have an option to be visible across multiple forums? Currently I usually end up posting an announcement with a link to a topic in it where people can reply.

Note, my IPB is on a temporary server, by the name of Skullfrost. My version of IPB is 1.3.x I am having a hard time, because when people try to access my site, demetri.skullfrost.com/forums, the following error comes up: Any help on this would be fabulous. My site host is not being exactly helpful right now, and it seems I have to rely on you good people to help me instead. I have no idea what the error message means, or how to fix it. hello ip.blog has the Featured Entry and i like the idea and want it in ip.board with group permission like who can add Featured topic and some setting in the ACP the number of topic to display in the board index and if the choosing topic need to be approved or not and the same for members and forums that will increase any board activity for the members and forums can be part of the reputation system

Deactivate data instead of deleting it

This would cover all kinds of data, such as members, posts, topics, forums, personal messages, etc. The reason I suggest this is that outright deletion of data is bad for the relational database concept of referential integrity. Each account, if the person is under so old, should come with a parent password set by there parents, which can restrict access by what time they can and cant use the board for, and how long they can use it for, suspend their access to it, and regulate what forums they can use on what days and other functions, such as the arcade.

Request: PM system

It would be really nice to replace the quote after quote after quote in the current PM system, with the standard forum layout of replies. It would save room in the DB buy not keeping 2 copies (1 per user) and all the additional quotes. Just have an ongoing list, just like a normal topic. When both users have chosen to delete the topic, it could be removed from the DB Something would need to be done for multiple recipients, but I'm sure IPS could take care of that in an efficient way.

In IPB 3 I'd like to see the ability to choose to have an announcement not only display on certain forums but also on the View New Posts page. A lot of users only check the View New Posts page and as a result do not see announcements at the top of forums. Thanks.

We know ipb has the feature to allow it to interact with other databases via the seperate classes available which are shipped with the current version of ipb. This as we know can lead to create extensive code and code duplication to change queries to work with other databases. Has the thought crossed your minds to make use of the new ( and rather nice ) PDO extension which was added to php? The PDO object has the ability to handle error exceptions which is a great advantage when debugging and creating a more seemless user experiance. the exec method is also very nice (in that when you run a update, insert, delete query it returns how many rows effected). Some suggestions for improving your site? May you consider updating your home page a little bit it as I think it is a tad confusing and I am a long time registered owner and user of IPB. Making it easier to navigate to certain products, possibly having quick product links on the left rather than (or as-well-as) tabbed in to business categories. Including better product detail and information on those products such as Dynamic, Nexus and where is the information on Converge? I can't find any information on your home page unless I go in to the client center - but you already have to own IPB to do this. It would be nice to have screenshots and/or demo's of those products …

in the home page we see: Latest IPS News, Latest IPS Blogs... Can be useful to see Latest IPS Gallery also... I updated my gallery later because I did not noticed when you released latest version. at least you can send an email with news... :huh:

You all my days of using IPB the concern about 13 years old and the coppa thing is something that has urked me. I would really like to see a "I am 18+" / "I am Younger" page. One of my sites is about clubbing and there is no bars that I know of in the States that allow minors entry. I like to keep the same principle with my site, but how can I accomplish that with a coppa for 13 years and younger? I would really like to see something that the user must agree that they are 18+ and if they can't agree to it they will be redirected to see ya later page. IPB full featured trial with member/post limits

This would be extremely useful for me personally but would also increase IPBs overall reach. Make a free trial version of IPBs fully featured latest version (full download, not ips hosted) but with limitations, i.e. member and post counts, maybe 2000 members max and 20,000 posts. I think this would bring in a lot of the phpbb/mybb crowd and present them with a nice upgrade path if their forum really takes off and makes IPB a serious alternative to vb for people who want the best features. Well some sections on my board are adults only and the rest are open. I would like a filter option in the board options and I being an admin could select which forums to be invisible when the filter is on. The filter status should be noticeable in the board view. Also for the forum sorting order...why not give the members the option to sort which category of forums or better still category and forum order as well?
