Suggestion for the improved Language Management in IPB 3...

I'm glad to be reading about all the improvements coming to the Language Manager in IPB 3. However, a quick suggestion. When searching for words, phrases or any other type of language string, please be sure the system only searches the text that will be explicitly displayed either on the Admin CP or the board. One of the problems with the Phrase Manager in vBulletin is that it also searches all the PHP strings as well. (For example, on vBulletin, if you search for "thread," it will find the PHP string "showthread.php.") Obviously, if a PHP string name is changed, it will corrupt your installation. There is a board where the members are posting mean stuff about other people in their school who is not neccessarily a member on that site and I feel like that this is a very bad environment and can get people into trouble. Can you look in to it or is IPB not allowed to do something like this? btw the site is www.lwcommunity.org

Hi! Just wanted to to say how happy I am that you are inluding Search Engine Friendly URL's - Excellent! I was reading through your blog posts regarding BB code: That means if you want to add "rel='nofollow'" to your urls, you can do so without editing files. If you want to change the resulting HTML for a code tag, you can do so, right there in the admin CP. Just a small spot of feedback for the IPS Style Guide posted in the blog a few weeks ago... Should <b> and <i> tags really be deprecated? I always saw them as distinct from <strong> and <em> tags. While <strong> and <em> tags suggest emphasis while reading a document, <b> and <i> are stylistic and have a effect similiar to making font larger. For instance, say I was writing a post or an article, and I was talking about something that was very, very important. Then, I would use the <strong> and <em> tags. I was thinking about this as I was about to go create a few new blog bots on my site that it would be a great administrative option that makes it if you create a new account via ACP it doesn't show it as the newest member in the index page. ESPECIALLY if you put them in a group hidden to the member list. Just a simple default check mark in the ACP that says "Show as newest member" that can be unchecked if necessary.

Hi, I am Deathstarr, and I have been a member here a while. But Never really posted. So I have a few questions before I start becoming a Customer of IPB. 1. What happened to my name? It was Deathstarr but now I have Deathstarr_Merged. 2. I read somewhere that you can use domains that are IPS-------.com after a certain date unless registered before. Does this also include names that have been registered before but ran out and re-registered? 3. If I can not usea domain of IPS-----.com/.net/.org/ect., Is Using Invision-----.com/net/org/ect. Still ok to use?

I bought my IPB License yesterday, the money went through fine, and it doesn't say im a customer on these forums, it also tells me its confirmed on my other computer, but on all of my others it says its pending, any reason for this and when shall this be sorted? Im not very pleased so far, and think its a waste of money. Hopefully someone will prove my thoughts wrong. Thanks.

Delete and edit post open in the search results

This would have been very helpful the other day when was trying to find posts that had a product name in it that needed to be changed or deleted from several posts. I had to go into each post and edit that product name out or just delete the post but still had to go into it and so was thinking it would be great to just have a delete open for admin or mods in the search results.

It would be so nice to be able to mark messages as read, flagged to reply, as unread in the PM system so you know which messages you still need to reply to if you just have time to read them and it would also help if the message is too long and you really can't read it you can mark it as unread. I ask for this because I have a problem with making sure I replied to PMs that I meant to reply to but didn't have time when reading it.

I think there should be an option where people who have hosting with IPS can change what domain the hosting account is set up on through the client area. The reason is I hate bothering IPS every time I decide to start a new site, and need the domain to be switched. Now this has nothing to do with with support being slow, because the support has been extremely fast as I think last time I got a reply in like 10mns. But, maybe this will make things easier.

Hllo, Just leaving a message here as I don't seem to be allowed to post I am hosted by IPS so I do believe I *am a customer. Itried logging in yesterday with my client are details but message returned was not allowed. I have issued a ticket to my client area today. I was registerd before then left IPB services and recently returned. Ijust wanted to check and it won't even allow view ib skinning forum :o

Can I suggest after reading of users having problems with the pop up location of My Assistant being under Flash Banners and Browser Extension Toolbars, that an option could be added to My Controls (Board Settings?) to reset My Assistant to default centered position? Its a problem to reset it manually if you can't move it or close it in a new position.

some hackers hack my forum.. i found from where they hacked its was from the profile there is a XSS.. you gotta check it and release a fix! and then they inject to the wrapper... i didnt paid for a script that had a security holes. <_< <_< <_<

Instead of a vague warning, "You have entered a link to a website that the administrator does not allow links to" I'd like to see a, "The following URLs are not allowed: {a list of URL's the user entered in the post which are not allowed}" To get around it, I'm having to copy-paste the disallowed links (there's over 100 I think) into notepad, posting my message, and then pasting the disallowed links back into ACP. Bleh. The post has like a 100 links. Now I don't want to sit there comparing each link to a possible 100.

Hello, i believe that many forum admins need to build a FAQ, in order to avoid the same questions being asked again and again. IPB has already built in most features needed for a good FAQ(categories inside categories etc.), but you need some new features. The most important things would be: Prio A: - Posts, who can be edited by anybody (nobody wants to write a FAQ on his own) - Post-history control system, to restore old versions (abuse etc) Prio B: - an automatically generated directory of contents like in mediawiki (long articles must be structured) Prio C: - Other options to format the article (footer etc)

Hey, This is my third post...( don't really look here, should do lot of interesting topics, anyways) I would like a feature where you can set what your text looks like... I.e. if you want to colour green everytime you start a topic or replay your text will be green instead of manually doing it. Lol I know it is lazy but I am lazy.
