   I noticed that the "date" columns in the relevant tables are indexed. With that being true I added the following to my search_mysql_ftext.php file (~ line 608): Doing this will override any time no date range is specified and limits all search results to the last year. Because the dates are indexed in the tables this should greatly reduce the number of rows that have to be searched thus speeding up search time and reducing server load. I would suggest that IPB add such a field (make the 360 above a variable) to the Admin Control Panel. For most people a date like one year is reasonable and the trade is to have faster searches and lower server loads. I think peop…

   Any chance that IPB 3.0 will have the ability to auto notify members that they have not been back to the board in 3, 6, 12 months? It would be nice to set up a general email that would get sent once every 90 days to members who have not been back to my site. It would also be nice if I could throttle the emails being sent to 2 per minute and a max of 50 emails per night. Just an Idea :)

   This is what I want. When you create a new category, I would like to be able to set alla permissions for all usergroups. Then all forums created under would inherit the permissions. In the forum permission view it would state that it ineherits the rules from the parent/category. Then you could go in and change the settings for that specific forum. That would also have som sort of visual confirmation so it is easy to see if it has special rules or is as the parent. /jon

   One of my forum members asked a good question: "I wish there was a way to flag or save a certain post. I often come to the forum on the fly, to read the posts and there are often things I'd like to comment on but don't have time to do so at that moment.... and unless I write myself a note and indicate where that topic is located, I'll forget when I come back." In talking with Support, I know that not a feature currently available, but they think it's a good idea as well. Along those same lines, I am in the process of upgrading my forum layout to include sidebars.    I realise IPB3 is feature locked, but this just struck me like a brick and I reckon that it could be something worth looking at... "Sticky replies". If you don't know what I mean, I mean replies which regardless of when they were posted and what view the thread is looked at in get jammed up to the start of the thread. Potentially this would be for things like rolling release note posts (so all actual release posts are at the start, and replies follow on after).

    As the preview board is going to be closed soon, i thought better to open it here.. these features could be added in 3.1 :) Custom prefix for topics Community groups like in facebook change the "Recipient's Name" in PM to something other like id@url.com or it could be just a nubmer because sometimes member using a strange signs..     Does ipb seroiusly not have publicly joinable groups... We are looking to make clans for a game, and we want to have forums for the clans, but you need to be in the clan to view the forum. Now, to do this we need public groups, that have a group leader who manages group join requests. Is there a way to do this. If not, this is a urgent suggestion. Even phpbb2 has this.

    Friendly Profile Urls

    I am starting to wish profiles (like myspace) could have a friendly url attached to them. I don't like the idea of using memberIDs for profiles, as that gets too confusing. I think it should be possible that the login/username is converted into a profile link. Spaces can be replaced with _ or a similar character. I think that would be more user-friendly.

    IPB 3.x Third Party Security Audit

    When IPB 2.x was released there were lots of security flaws exploited on boards. As a result IPB had a major push to close any and all "holes" including a third-party security audit of the code base. With IPB 3.x the code base is in many ways "all new" so there may certainly be the potential for the same thing to happen again (security holes that developers did not catch). My question is if there will be a third party audit to help close them? I thought this was an excellent decision previously and as an end-user this made me feel very confident that IPB took things seriously.... and the result was also that hacked IPB installs fell off tremendously.

    IPB Version 3.0 i think you should add the shout box for the IPB Forum, and u should add more beautiful IPB skin for the new version 3.0, and i think you add more the code for the MP3, video, Flash, music in the IPB version 3.0 let people can add the music more easier thanks

    Couldn't find this posted anywhere, but I may be searching wrong, though I read page by page. The issue I'm having is when I close the sidebar with Recent Posts and Topics the space between the Category Title and the Category turns to ~95% of the browser space (img attached). I tried refreshing my cache, deleting temp files, etc. since I couldn't find anyone else reporting, figured it was me. But I'm sure if it wasn't just me someone else would have by now probably reported it. Any ideas?

    I would like to suggest that Invision resurrect the Hosting Customers forum. It can be restricted to active hosting customers only. If that is not possible, then the forum can be placed as a sub-forum of the lounge or separate one with the same restrictions as the lounge.

    We have reported this before on both parties, but VBB said they need to know how to convert IPB password scheme( or something like this)..etc and IPB was not willing to provide and throw it back to VBB could IPB please tell how member's password scheme(whatever you name it) and let VBB convert IPB easlier? as we really want to convert :cool: thanks

    I think IPB is a great forum software, well worth the money :) The only criticism if I had to pick one would be that there isn't an option to turn on/off the blocking of Root Admin IPs or the ability to apply this feature to other groups etc. That's unless I missed a setting? :blink: Keep it up!

    Hi Everyone, I don't know about you, but I would love to see video responses to topics and threads. I would like to see IP.Board have the capabilities that Facbeook and YouTube have that allow you to record a video directly from your webcam and upload it. The board would obviously have to allow a or tag to allow a flash player plugin as a response. I think this feature would be very useful to larger orgainzations who have discussions that are either lengthy or personal. It's easier for somebody to just say what they want to say in words, than ramble typing. What do you think?
