Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted January 18, 200916 yr Hello, I suggest the IPS sponsored components don't show the copyright in V3. It would be much better if the sponsored components and the official components have the same page bottom. Thanks.
January 18, 200916 yr This is related to the sponsored projects and not IP.Board :) As it currently stands, the copyright will remain in IP.Tracker and IP.Shoutbox until the next major versions (2.0 of both), we may revisit how we deal with it then :)
January 18, 200916 yr Well... Hope the V2 of them could be released soon then... The copyright removal is for a tidy layout of the page, I believe the IP.Tracker and Shoutbox ought to be in this way on copyright, because they are official sponsored projects.
January 18, 200916 yr 2.0 won't be for quite a while, we haven't even finished the IPB3 releases yet, so 2.0 won't be for quite a few months at least, plus testing time so we are looking at around 6 months here. I don't see how it makes it look messy, its simply one line, so I don't see how removing it keeps it tidy?
January 18, 200916 yr Try to imagine a beautiful sea shore, everything are in a nice scene. Suddenlty you find a bulletin 'No Swimming'. It's just a board with only one line, but to the entire scene, it's already make the scene look not tidy.
January 18, 200916 yr  A small copyright line at the bottom of the page doesn't tell users they can't use the product, I don't get the analogy.
January 18, 200916 yr I like everything in perfect tidy, if the projects are not sponsored by IPS, I would say nothing about displaying the copyright.
January 18, 200916 yr ps: If the authors want their names shown on the page, no problem and that will be fine if the names shown inside the layout of entire page(not a single line out of the layout table). But IPS sponsored projects showing the copyright is weird to the copyright removal license users.
January 18, 200916 yr We had a quick chat about this and decided that the community projects will honour copyright removal if you've purchased it - I'm not entirely sure how the official components (Blog, Gallery, IDM) are going to handle copyright, but hopefully community projects will do it in the same way when they are released.

Thanks for the hope. :P The official components didn't show the copyright under the copyright removal license for a long long time(so I think it should do the same to the Tracker and Shoutbox). Hope this wouldn't change in 3.0.
January 18, 200916 yr Okay, we've now honoured the change within the code after our little chat :-) Hopefully this will be good news for you :) We'll still show the copyright normally, but if you have a removal license for IP.Board, it will no longer show.
