I am trying to advertise some of my clubs in social networks, to get more members into my community. The problem is, when guests they click the "join button" they are shown the error screen "this page is not available, yada yada". They should be directed to the registration/login screen informing them they shoud register the community prior to joining the club.

I've lost count of the times I've accidentally pressed the forum icon on tablet/mobile and marked a forum read. Having an option to undo this or a pop up confirmation "are you sure you want to mark all forums read" would be very handy for my fat thumbs.

At the moment when setting up the social media section for Facebook in ACP you can only associate a personal Facebook account. This means that it would post on your timeline. When you have a community page on Facebook, linking to your personal FB is ok but you should have the option to post to a page that account manages. That way your personal FB feed is clear and the relevant posts get shared to the page instead.

One of the custom profile field options is YES/NO. Would be great to have an expanded YES/NO option and add a graphic if YES or NO. If YES, a certain image would show that you would upload in the admin panel. This would be good for certain badges and certifications members could display on their profile pages.

On my growing list of RSS improvement wishes today: How about an RSS-feed on the "Our pics"-page? The <description> would be the text you write in the promotion. The <pubDate> would be the date for the promotion item. <link> would go to the item being promoted. <title> would be the title for the item on the promotion page. Thanks for your consideration.

Hello, Could you provide author information in the various RSS-feeds generated by the software. As an example of feeds I would like it in: https://invisioncommunity.com/files/files.xml https://invisioncommunity.com/discover/all.xml/ https://invisioncommunity.com/news/?rss=1 But these are just examples, I would like that information in all RSS-feeds generated by the software where author information would be relevant. You can provide the display name under <dc:creator>, since <author> is meant to contain email address as well, which we obviously wouldn't want in this case.

Hi, Sorry for my english, I'm a french bastard We have recreated our site recently (about Inter Milan) by directing it all around IPB We use "Pages" for the pages of our site. One thing I have not managed to set up is the ability to add a box of comments. The same thing we find in the articles present in the module "database". At the bottom of each article, there is a possibility to add a comment. For the pages we have created it would be a rather practical functionality.

I just wanted to say I have a had few issues as I am largely ignorant on forum management and upgrading. Customer service has been first class and worked with me in professional way that not only solved the problem but I learned from it. For this, I thank them in the public and private. Have a good day!

I would suggest improvements for modcp: - more stats (inspired to stats admincp, attachments/uploads, downloads last 24h, user activity, old members) - more tools --- recents users warnings (a better way to check other moderators actions) --- todo lists / tasks --- contact us for moderators / help desk ability to escalation to admincp --- mod logs viewable (if have permission to view, notification if there are new/unread logs), and some error (like permission denied ban ip filters) --- suggested actions (like item suspicios "take over" bad word filter / links blocked / ip address blocks interventions... item without tags... for security…

I'm loving the new Fluid View option for the forum index page. It is proving to be a great option when I want to view newly posted/updated topics. There are times when I still want to browse with the old view of listing the forums. When I use the old view and navigate to a root category page or a forum that has subforums, I would like the option to use Fluid View from this page. That is, pages like: https://invisionpower.com/forums/forum/307-community-led-resources/ https://invisionpower.com/forums/forum/503-customization-resources/ that have subforums (and thus are index pages themselves) should have the same user settings to enable Fluid View just on this…

Adding or Editing Page Content concept is flawed, as I understand it. When I create a new Page via the CMS ACP admin area and I want to add new content to this page (without editing HTML), I have to use the WYSIWYG editor and edit the page content via there. However, to edit content via the WYSIWYG editor, you have to have access to the Blocks Tab and personally I would rather not give moderators or members access to this area period. Here lies the problem, how do I give access to these Pages for my writers to edit content without giving them access to the Blocks Tab? From what I have seen, I cannot. There really should be another way of adding pages that …

I just detected, that the "group promotion options" in any IP.Commerce product offers group promotions to the "Administrator" or "Moderator" group. This shouldn't be. For my IP.Commerce shop, I appoint third party shop managers (with ACP access) to add new products to the shop. That's the only permission they get via the ACP. But it's a very high security risk, as they are able to configure any new product (f.e. promote to admin group, for 1 USD), and then, after buying it for 1 USD, they will be promoted to the "administrators" group with full access to the community. I found no way how to prevent or restrict this. Admin groups should be excluded from…

How about giving third party devs the ability to create clubs for support of their mods? Right now we are stuck between: 1. Having support topics - very convenient for users, because they can post their question easily, but very inconvenient for devs, because tracking one long topic full with comments, bugs and suggestions is very tiring. 2. Having personal support board - very convenient for devs, because they can create bug trackers and separate sections for suggestions and feedback, but very inconvenient for users, because they have to join and monitor yet another site. How about having the best of both worlds and allow 3rd party devs to create clubs h…

From what I understand, InnoDB is superior in most ways. It has row level locking, where MyISAM only has table level locking, it self repairs by comparing itself to older versions of itself, where MyISAM does not, and it's generally quicker because of some feature of its indexing that I can't recall. I probably shouldn't bother listing what a simple google search can provide a much more detailed and technically articulate overview of. Anyway, just throwing it out there.

So I just did an absolutely fresh install of 4.1.19.4 on a site I am preparing for an academic grant application review. For some reason it installed and yet was utterly unusable because no CSS or template styles were loading at all. Timeline panic made me hit the Outage button. Long story short: @Rhett responded in one minute. Problem fixed in 15 minutes. Before I crawl back into my workhole, I just wanted to say: THAT is service.

Hi, Would it be possible that admins should be sent a notification when a moderator closes a report. Last night there was a report sent from a user stating that unless a post was removed they were going to sue the forum for defamation. One of our moderators saw the report, closed it and went on their merry way (I have since now changed the procedure regarding this). I was by chance that I came across this report last night and was able to do something about this. I would ask that when reports are closed by moderators, that an email or notification is sent to admins of the forum to let them know which report and who closed it. That way, we do not miss out on repo…

In one of my communities, I host a lot of (hundreds) of confidential downloads. I limited the member groups correctly to being only able to download x downloads a day. I've also set the category permissions to avoid unauthorized access. But I would suppose more important protection options: option to enter an additional password for each download: This way, members are required to ask the author for the password before downloading. This shouldn't be done on file level, as this would require a lot of files to be converted to self-extracting, encrypted exe files. This would scare our members. And not all applications for file generations offer their own password …

This week, I wrote a plugin for the FileSystem Storage Method that uses an Amazon S3 bucket as a "backing store" and treats the local filesystem storage as a file cache. That is, the FileSystem Storage Method saves new files to both the local filesystem and to S3. When the contents are needed, the plugin tries to retrieve the local filesystem copy. Failing that, it tries to retrieve from S3 and saves the content to the local filesystem (for the next time the file is needed). I intend to write a system task to limit the size of the local filesystem and purge the oldest files when the limit is reached. I used the Amazon PHP SDK (https://github.com/aws/aws-sdk-php) and …

When viewing images in a post that break out into the lightbox there is, probably, a Z-Index problem with the likes floating above the lightbox image (see below): It may also be useful if the page scroll could be locked when the lightbox is active.

For Fluid view, I was just wondering if it was possible to add another option under (or above?) the main forums list allowing users to instantly filter to all of their Followed forums threads? That might be convenient for users who don't feel like browsing to their Manage Followed Content screens and then scrolling down to Topics.

We offer our customers annual memberships at various levels. Example: entry level is $150/year and the next level up is $500/year. Currently, Let's say a customer purchased a $150 membership and then 6 months later, they decide to upgrade to the $500 one... Desired behavior: New $500 membership starts today, and customer gets a credit for the remainder of their active membership ($75 in this case, half of $150). So they're charged $425 initially for the upgrade. Great for business. Customer feels like they get a fair credit, and I feel like our business is profitable. Current behavior: The expiration date seems locked-in-stone, thus the customer's "upgrade" is …
