Next version has a dashboard plugin:
This dashboard plugin will try to fix missing folder/permissions, but will let you know if there's still a problem. Hopefully this will address the most common questions that have been asked about 2.x Beta

Okais, updated to 2.0.0 beta and all Markers dissapeared. Have checked permissions and ensured that things are writable that should be and recached all however still does not show any markers.
Looked at console log and seems that its looking for cache/mmap/members-1.json and cannot find it. Cache folder is def writable. Any idea?
EDIT: Please disregard the above. Its weekend and Im being incredibly stupid LMAO ...... For anyone else who decides on being incredibly stupid today, try running the scheduled task that creates the cache in the first place :D

If it's that important to you, go pay someone to do it, This is a free app that I have supported for almost 4 years in my spare time. I'm sorry that I don't have time to work on this for nothing.
I would usually ask for more information, because your markers are not deleted, but in this case, I can't be bothered.

This is an (unrelated to membermap) issue that was fixed in IP.Board 3.4.5, if you're using a newer version, submit a ticket to IPS.
Try reading the last page (or two) then

My IE 8 Windows users were reporting that the markers weren't showing up. I fired up my XP virtual machine and found the following error:
I added the following to the top of jq.membermap.js
var console = console || { log: function() {} };
which worked allowed the IE8 to view the markers.

O and yes I will try to stop spelling your name the American way and do it correctly.
Thanks Stuart
You should have said thanks Geoff and that would have shook my tree...

Stuart, I for one appreciate the map. Whilst I had no idea how much it was used, it was missed immediately. Since this is a free application, I have sent you a donation in appreciation of your development efforts!

Thank you.

I agree, I have been a real pest because I do not understand most of this and can barely manage and Stewart has been WAY MORE than considerate and helpful. I have over 700 custom markers on my map and a LARGE part of my site is using the MEMBER MAP so right now, having the member map not working is horrible for me but if you look at my last three posts I am actually trying to help. Even if my understanding is ZERO..
It is fantastic application and I would love for the 2.0 to be available tomorrow but I also realize he has to earn a living as we all do. I will be as helpful as I can and be understanding as well.
Thank you again Stewart for a really cool and useful modification.
Jeff

Sorry, but i agree with Stoo regarding this question: this is free software, so consider it a gift, with no obligatory support, upgrades, or anything else. The author has been quite kind in answering all questions about the transition to bing maps.
If you are not satisfied, consider hiring a developer to build custom software.

You're pretty much out of luck if you hadn't activated Google Maps V2 API in the Console prior to the start of this week. Why it was pulled prior to their published deprecate date is anyone's guess.
There isn't a fix for this yet, you'll have to wait for the next version of MemberMap to be released.

I think I can see what the issue is, it's a one-off after an upgrade, the cache directory isn't created until the task runs
Running the task manually will trigger the directory created, in system scheduler, under Member Map look for 'Member Marker Cache' and run it.

The V2 API has been deprecated for about 3 years now, the V2 api will change into a V2/V3 hybrid in November.
I'll recap as although it's been mentioned on many pages in this topic this information has slipped back out of view. API Keys are available via the console. https://code.google.com/apis/console
You do require a Bing account to use the API, but they do have a free level that's pretty much the same (if not better) than the free Google Maps offering. -

I'm deeply sorry that you can't take an extra minute to post a bug report to the PROPER place to track it, it makes my task of dealing with them more efficient. Maybe I shouldn't bother spending large amounts of my time on free apps.
