I was trying to reproduce it this weekend but I didn't manage to, the way I tested:
1) Create a new topic where I mention group X
2) Login as a member of group X 
3) Member gets the notification
4) Edit the topic and also mention group Y
5) Login as member of group Y
6) Member gets the notification
7) Edit the topic and also mention Member "Test"
8 ) Login as member "Test"
9) Member "Test" gets the notification
10) Edit the topic and also mention member "Test2"
11) Login as member "Test2"
12) Member "Test2" gets the notification
13) Edit the topic and also mention group Z
14) Login as member of group Z
15) Member gets the notification
I assume you are running latest version of groupmention and IPB? I think there might be another plugin or app that is conflicting

I believe you don't need to reupload the file, and just change the compatibility to 4.7.

@TAMAN my friend you forgot to change the compatibility to 4.7 and it shows it's for 4.4, so no one will be able to download the file. 

@Dll the screenshot @Caedis posted is from the download page from Marketplace. Also, he is completely right because this setting doesn't exist after @DawPi converted the plugin to app, so perhaps @DawPi forgot about including it while creating the app.

@Afrodude IPS has fixed the bug for an upcoming release (4.7.6 most likely).

You would receive a notification whenever it's approved if you've enabled "Send me version updates" button from the download page, and it would take days for IPS staff to approve it.

Wouldn't it be preferable if this setting could just be applied to selected primary forums rather than all of them?

i have updated this theme to support the latest version now, please be patient as it gets approved.
 
I'm sorry for the late reply i wasnt on a vacation! its just real life gets in the way sometimes. I will try my best to visit here on a daily basis now just like i have always done!
the good thing is ONLY globalTemplate and navBar template is edited in this theme. most of the time you can just ignore the warnings because its not nessesery required to update the theme for each IPS update! those two templates are not always modifed by ips, for example from ips version 4.7.3 until today only globalTemplate was modifed and they only removed the viglink template tag in it. you can check it here https://invisioncommunity.com/index.php?app=core&module=system&controller=plugins&do=diff
 
You can also update the theme to support the latest ips versions yourself in a couple minutes, you dont need any coding knowladge 
heres what to do
first check the theme differences here https://invisioncommunity.com/index.php?app=core&module=system&controller=plugins&do=diff ...you will only need to search for globalTemplate and navBar template and see whats new. if you dont find these two templates then ignore the update warnings.
If you see these templates modifed, then you need to apply the changes to your theme here to ACP -> Customizations -> Themes -> Edit HTML and CSS

@Noah F, @TAMAN one of the best theme developers in here, and he is also the most helpful one. He always helps even with personal customization unlike other developers around here. Who knows what's going with him in his personal life, but I wish that he is in a good heath.
Add this in your custom CSS
.cSearchFilter[open] { z-index: 2001; } Also, if you are running 4.7.3 there is no update in the globalTemplate or other modified templates. If you need more help, send me a PM and I will see what I can do to help until @TAMAN comes back. 

PHP 8 wouldn't cause issues with themes, and the issues come from apps and plugins.

I agree, a lot should be in the core that is only availiable via plugin.

Hi @Kirill Gromov some small requests to improve this beautiful great app. 
Hide the app whenever you click anywhere else on the site instead on pressing on the minimize button.  Add ability to auto refresh whenever you are receiving a new private message.  Add ability to SORT BY and FILTER BY  Add data-ipsTooltip to the icons in order to be more helpful.

This is the code handling the topics hover preview for forum view in applications/forums/dev/html/front/forums/topicRow.phtml on line 115:

And this instead is the code for the Topic Feed widget template in applications/forums/dev/html/front/global/row.phtml on line 45:

Oh, I see the problem now. I was testing with the widget in the sidebar area, but the error is only visible when using the top/bottom areas.
 
This is actually an IPS bug because they aren't checking the proper variable in the widget's template.
You can edit the block/widget template directly and add the fix I mentioned in the bug report:
