Wouldn't it be preferable if this setting could just be applied to selected primary forums rather than all of them?

I see, but it would be better if it's a core setting instead of third-party plugin because of too many reasons. Also, I suggested this because the gird view doesn't fit all primary forums especially the ones with odd numbers. It leaves a huge and unnecessary empty area.

I agree, a lot should be in the core that is only availiable via plugin.
