Matt reacted to MMXII in 4.5: Page Builder Widgets
A huge step in the right direction! I love the fact that the Forum App is very powerful, but the software needs more flexibility regarding content creation in general. More CMS features (since the Forum App is already great). 🙂
Back to the Page Builder Widgets: Maybe you want to add a WYSIWYG editor to the text area, which would make content creation a lot easier. And I hope those widgets can be displayed based on group permissions. Sadly you never clicked the visibility tab... Is that one for permissions?

This is awesome.
It would be nice to use this feature to pull from a pages database category. Having this kind of control over database blocks is what I've been waiting for, for years!
I've been running a news site, pulling the story image and having control over that image and title is the dream. That would give us 100 times more control over featureless marketplace solutions.
Could you please include a block that does this using the solution you're providing here. To me this is the most exciting update announced. pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeee....

I think it is a waste of your resources for v5... but good to see you have taken this direction... I hope you consider a editor that is like Gutenberg into wordpress (it include tinycme editor and inline option and MORE support old bbcode into new blocks)

This reminds me of the Visual Composer/WPBakery days. Now it's Elementor all the way. Live preview would be nice for sure, but I'd opt for even MORE customizations over having live preview. Hopefully we will see more and more options added with each update after the release of 4.5!

I stand and applaud the efforts of everyone that contributed to this massive improvement, this is getting closer and closer to having a complete and fully customizable visual page builder.
Thank you!

Hey.
Nice work
Any facility to add classes or Id to the blocks?
And if so, a very cheap way to style multiple blocks at a time would be to create a new widget type called, for example, CSS editor, and in that add the style controls which are in the other blocks. This would enable us to, for example:
1/ add class X to each content block
2/ add CSS Editor block and allow CSS to target classes or ID. For example class X
3/ style class X using inline controls (per your demo), or using custom css.
Not necessary of course, but would make editing a page a lot quicker if you wanted consistency in terms of padding etc.
Also, whilst here, it would be good to be able to add Id or class names to widget containers, making it easier to set up flex container, flex direction etc for multiple widgets in a container.
Looking forward to 4.5
edit: I appreciated you can already add css styles to HTML editor blocks (assuming you have HTML edit perms)
🙂

The widgets come with the Pages app, but they can be used anywhere a widget can be used.

Nice video, nice feature! This is a really good start towards bringing Pages into the inevitable realms of being a proper Divi style page/site builder!
It would be really nice to extend this functionality to members who are Blog owners, enabling them to be able to add some much needed personalisation and individuality to their IPS Community Blogs.

That's fantastic. Only wish there was a way to do edits to settings and have some live preview with out having to go all the way out all the way back in each time.
Perhaps some button that will take you back into to the last used block setting.

Sorry if I misunderstood, this is for Pages app only or new types of widgets?

Matt got a reaction from Cristian Romero in A call to arms for community leaders
Like most idioms that are adopted by groups, it can mean several things.
For this purpose, it means "A strong command or inducement for action, especially among a particular group of people."
Stay safe Cristian! From what I understand, Spain has started to turn a corner now.
