With that being said...  if it did not have sites actually using it, they would not be heavily investing in it.  It makes sense for them to follow the math in terms of where the majority of their users are.  If they don't...  they would not survive as a company.

Logically it's better not to follow, It's better to lead and be followed. Instead of following the masses, what about getting the masses to follow you. In a business environment it's more lucrative to sell many items at a low price than sell few items at a high price. Have you ever wonder why all of a sudden poor China is now the richest country on the Earth.

I'm just saying IPS bread and butter started from the self hosting folks and still is, and we the self hosting folks should no be made to feel disappointed. That's all

Take a look at some of the brands listed on IPS' homepage...

    For example:

There are three right there.  🙂

    Ha, only three😲

Goes to show, not many cloud customers out there on the IPS business plan.

When I read the first post in this topic, I felt disappointed. I am sure many self-hosted clients feel the same way.

Yes, I think that is the plan all along. A marketing strategy to disappoint all the self hosting customers and gradually convince them to migrate to cloud.

I do wonder how many live forums are out there successfully running and using the IPS cloud business plan.

Any links? I would like to see some.

What sort of features or changes would you like to see?

Hi, I was hoping for the gallery app to function and look similar to https://unsplash.com or even better, with a clean, simple grid displaying member's photos and EXIF info. I believe a gallery layout and functionality similar to unsplash would attract more members to submit photos.

There was an IPS topic some time ago requesting tips and ideas for the gallery app, so I wondered if there was a Gallery app redesign development in the pipeline?

@beats23Have you migrated your database to a new server? or restored a backup from a Mysql dump?

I've been through that before and I lost my emojis due to those doing the server migration for me being careless. They generated a manual backup of the database, and unfortunately Mysql dump default is UTF8 and not utf8mb4, which is what's needed for Emojis to work.

If you haven't done anything, and this happened maybe the server connection collation has been changed somehow. In that case you may be able to revert it to utf8mb4 in the general settings of your database.

    2025295604_ScreenShot2021-10-16at6_42_08pm.thumb.png.cd8ea3d1fe71d6bca979a888f668ba15.png

Failing that maybe you have a backup that the server automatically generated when this setting was correct. But even in that case it depends on how much new content has been added since, so it may be a tough choice between old emojis and latest content. In my case I only realised about the broken emojis 3 months later, so I basically didn't have a choice.

Regardless, you want that set above to utf8mb4_unicode_ci for new emojis.

It could be some other reason behind the problem, but what you say sounds very familiar to me.

Hi, yes I did change server.

    Thanks for your information.

  6. The broken smile face emoji link in the source is <img alt="?" class="ipsEmoji" src="https://twemoji.maxcdn.com/2/72x72/3f.png">

    The working links is <img alt="😀" class="ipsEmoji" src="https://twemoji.maxcdn.com/2/72x72/1f600.png">

It seems emoji web link PNG file name is changing by itself over time, which cause the emoji weblink to be broken.

    Any thoughts?
