Marc got a reaction from Jim M in Unable to "X" out "Update Required"
Being in a position whereby email may stop working, and running a version known to have security flaws that have since been resolved, is less of a dicey proposition?Â

Marc reacted to Andy C in Positive Feedback from a Returning Member and Client
Having recently rejoined as a new member since previously being a member and support volunteer many years ago when the version number was 3.0.x to 3.1x
I decided to become a client again after using the version 5 alpha test site and helping others with finding bugs.
Initially getting a trial for the current version 4, I decided to purchase a self hosted version, even though I have no plans on having a live forum. Simply wanting to be reacquainted with the Admin CP area and learn all the setting and customisation options. In the current version it is such an improvement in functionality from previously, although that was still easy to use.Â
Installation was a breeze just as I remember. Configuration options are plentiful with the option to run your community with just minimal steps needed to setup the structure of your forums etc to customising settings, themes and adding functionality as needed.
It is great to be back within this community, using the software that I have enjoyed using since version 3 and which has continued to improve in both functionality and design. Fabulous work by all involved.

These are not something available in the default product at present. Version 5 however does indeed have heading items you can add.

Thank you for your detailed answer, the transparency and fixing the view and click tracking. Please re-enable email sending for my community. I checked my privacy policy in the meantime.

We are preparing to launch new features where you can see send, view, and click statistics for all emails sent by your community right in your AdminCP.
You will also be able control your own suppression lists for reputation management. This means you will be able to reactivate emails that bounce (though spam complaints you cannot reactivate). That allows you to increase me
Postmark is our current email vendor as listed on our legal disclosure sub-processors, is themselves GDPR compliant, and is used my thousands of sites all over (including in the EU). There is no GDPR issue. Be careful not to automatically assume every little thing is a GDPR issue as you will end up putting yourself into an unnecessary corner.
All that said, if you still for some reason wish to, you can always use your own and put the SMTP details in.
We do not run our own email servers. We have always used third-party systems. Can you imagine trying to build out your own email network? It would be quite a nightmare.
I am sorry for your concern with this and if you feel we overlooked something. I have disabled email sending on your community for the moment so you do not have further concerns about this and purged all your email send logs, views, and clicks. Feel free to contact support if you need help using an alternative email service.
The global enabling of view and click tracking regardless of your community settings was an error and has been fixed.

Marc got a reaction from Joey_M in Past leaderboard pagination not working
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I can confirm this should be further reviewed and I have logged an internal bug report for our development team to investigate and address as necessary, in a future maintenance release.
This is available only on the teams package and above

No reason. And in fact that would be the correct way to do so 🙂Â

Marc got a reaction from TDBF in forums.aaca.org - entire topic gone missing
Got ya. Thank you for that.
Â
Need to note, this bug means "delete permenantly" was clicked from the mod CP, so this looks very intentional. If you are 100% sure you havent done this, I would suggest changing your password and ensuring you are using 2 factor authentication (especially for staff) on your site

If it's anything like embedding content from other Facebook properties, I think I'll politely decline. 😂

Marc got a reaction from MillsWebDev in PHP 8.2 Thread
Version 5 is currently in alpha testing, and we would hope soon be in beta testing. Of course how long, will depend on that testing.Â
In terms of there being an "issue" with supporting a higher version, its simply that we havent tested nor developed the product for that version, and we have seen things break. At present the focus is on development of the new version 5 release. As PHP 8.1 is supported for security releases, there is no immediate focus to support this on version 4.
I would just like to comment on this part. We are currently in a major release cycle. As such, the latest version of PHP is supported in the next version available for us to feasibly do it in, as it always is. However as this time its a major release, it of course takes longer to develop, test and release.

Marc got a reaction from GoodmanStar35 in Allowing Guests to ONLY see the first post
There is no functionality within the software that would allow you to do this at the present time. Please feel free to post up within our feedback area if you would like to see something like this appear in a future release
