GazzaGarratt reacted to Nathan Explosion in (NE) Display my badges
Here is what it looks like on the default Invision theme, which is what I work with:

You're using a custom theme, plus you've included the user's reputation information in the same area as the badges, so things look different and more cramped as a result.
If you want the badges placed in a different location then suggest the position and I can look into options for that, but unfortunately, all I can suggest to you right now is to disable the display of the reputation information.
Missed this last night...I could have sworn I had an option in there to control group access to the functionality but at first glance, it appears I don't - I'll double-check tomorrow morning on this one.

Adriano, or anyone else for that matter that uses events regularly, have you seen any way to create a new pot for RSVP at all? I'm trying to find a way to capture 'Reserve' slots. Essentially so if you have a limit and someone drops out, you know if someone in reserve can fill in for you.
Ideally it sits alongside max limit if you have one! So many times people want to say they could be around but when it reaches its quota no one else can even click Going or Maybe. Appreciate any thoughts if it can fit in the enhancements in some way.

That's also a great idea for an enhancement.  Add a waiting/reserve list.

Adriano acquired the Sports Betting App, Members Shop and Tournaments from a guy named The Jackal that did great work and then vanished.
The Sports Betting app is not user-friendly at all.  I have had it for about three years.  I think Adriano is going to stop supporting, not enough users.
Members Shop Points are integrated into a number of apps, Adriano integrated his self-built apps into it prior to The Jackal retiring.
I bought the Tournaments app in simple hope of being able to do brackets, it was far more than that and not suitable for a simple bracket.
There is a lot of growth in that space if go in that direction.  I would love a great sports betting app and a way to do random brackets.
I obviously run a sports-oriented site - anything in that genre is going to excite me!!

I basically finished the bracket part, except 2 issues were 1. a bug in the type of form/setup I was using and nobody would ever answer me about it on the various dev forums and 2. I couldn't ever get the bracket to look like a bracket because I'm not good at design. We have a long time before the next ncaa tournament, though. As far as conference tournaments, I'm not sure because of how they are all so different, with different numbers of teams having byes, etc... I have this one where play in games can be used so technically the code is there to allow for byes, but I guess I'd have to just get it working with different numbers of teams.
In a past sports app I made, I basically had to just specifically put in different playoff types, such as nhl playoffs, nba playoffs, etc... because of the different rules. In nhl and nfl they reorder teams after the first round, so some of these are too tricky to have it work automatically, without just hardcoding in different examples.
As far as the history, for a long time nobody was seeming to need it updated and I was wanting to test it live, but was on shared hosting since I haven't really done as much programming for a while. So didn't have php 8 and also had more health issues. Usually, my apps have barely anything needing to change to work on the latest ip.suite versions, though. What slowed this up back for 4.5/4.6 was me trying to get the brackets in. I should have just released it first without them for those versions. I'm mainly just wanting to get them done far ahead of the next ncaa tournament.
The app definitely functions very well and has a lot of stats (some stored ones I don't use at this point).

I submitted a new version of this. I forgot to mention in the changelog that I also took category permissions into effect for latest poll widgets and other pages where it was showing them regardless of those settings.
Once it is downloadable and you install the new version, you will need to edit your categories because I changed a permission and added a new permission in it.
I had mostly finished brackets, but still some hiccups, so took most of the code for it back out and will have to add those some other time.
There are some new features, such as ability to let members predict which team will win a pickem and which scorer will be the top scorer. These are all custom features someone had me add in, which were allowed to be in the download here. Another feature is ability to let members predict exact scores instead of only the winner of a game.
If you do not want to use those new features then you might as well turn advanced tiebreakers off because that pretty much just uses those new features to break ties at the end of the pickems.

Finally getting this submitted any day now hopefully. So hopefully someone is still left who wants it. I went through all kinds of things, had to get php8 eventually, and on and on.

I did get an email a few weeks back about Apple now updating their push notifications so was hoping this would be implemented here soon. Many thanks for getting this sorted as it should help most sites here with their engagement 🙂
Hopefully I can ask a relatively quick and simple question whilst we're here - does the notification automatically remove itself from the tray once clicked on, like all other push notifications for other stuff on mobiles? Reason I ask is because I notice the Android ones always stay on devices but not sure if thats down to software here or maybe browser specific e.g. Chrome?
    Thanks again.

GazzaGarratt reacted to Daniel F in Strengthening Community Trust with Privacy and PII Data Features
Our June release of Invision Community introduces several new improvements for your community to increase privacy controls and consent of personally identifiable information.
In today's digital age, privacy and the protection of personally identifiable information (PII) have become increasingly important. By incorporating improved privacy and PII data features into Invision Community, we are creating a more secure and inclusive environment within your community. In this blog post, we will take a quick look at what PII is, and the new features Invision Community has to improve privacy within your community.
    What is PII?
PII, or personally identifiable information, refers to any data that can be used to identify, contact, or locate an individual member. When users sign up and visit your community, they may provide various types of PII, either voluntarily or as required by the platform's registration process. For example, an email address is required to complete the registration, and in some cases and IP address may be logged to authenticate a session, or to provide some context to the person posting content.
Invision Community introduced new data control tools in a previous release, so let's take a look at the improvements coming in our June release that improves cookie management, IP address management, PII data requests, and the right to be forgotten.
PII Data Request and Right to be Forgotten
Your members now have the ability to request their Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data directly from their account settings page. Upon submitting a request, administrators will receive a notification alerting them to the new inquiry, where they can choose to either approve or deny it.
If approved, the member will be notified and provided information on how to download their requested data.

Additionally, members now have the option to request account deletion. After submitting this request, they will receive a confirmation email to verify their intent. Once confirmed, the request is forwarded to administrators, who can then decide whether to approve or reject the account deletion.

    IP Address Management
Invision Community has had tools to prune IP addresses within a timeframe for a while, but we have conducted a thorough evaluation of the data framework in Invision Community to ensure that all recorded IP addresses are systematically purged according to the designated timeframe.
    Cookie Management
Empowering members to control which cookies are stored is an important aspect of fostering trust and security within an online community. By granting users the autonomy to manage cookie preferences, you demonstrate a commitment to respecting their privacy and protecting their personal data. This level of transparency not only helps build a strong sense of trust between the community and its members but also helps with compliance, ultimately contributing to a more engaging and responsible user experience.
The Invision Community cookie consent page has been revamped and now displays a list of essential cookies. Visitors have the option to opt out of non-essential cookies for a more customized browsing experience.

Additionally, we've introduced a new feature that allows for the inclusion of an optional third-party Cookie Description on the cookie consent page, further enhancing transparency and user control.

We trust that these enhancements to privacy and data collection practices will simplify compliance with various regulations and, most importantly, ensure that your community members feel secure and well-protected while engaging with your platform.
The features and changes presented here are available in the following packages:
Beginner Creator Creator Pro Team Business Enterprise These features are also available in the Invision Community Classic (self-hosted) product.
If you do not see your product or package listed, please contact us to talk about upgrading your Invision Community.

UI and UX is probably one of the most important things out there so I'd have to strongly agree to see if we can find a way to get prompts on screen to help the user 'download the app' to their Apps screens. Otherwise Apple users won't know the feature exists.
I'll still be pushing it hard for our members as we've been waiting for a way to get push notifications out to Apple users, luckily I have quite a few members on WhatsApp so I can persuade them via that 😅

    To recap:
To enable push notifications on iOS:
Ensure you are using iOS 16.4 or newer Save the site to your iPhone's home screen via the share icon Enable push notifications via the option at the bottom of the notifications options page Ensure you have set some notifications to "+ Push" Make sure you haven't disabled notifications via iOS Settings globally or for the app icon if you scroll down the settings list in iOS.

See the below - the important bit that may be relevant to you is the fact that it is "Custom", which means that I manually installed it instead of instaled it via the Marketplace. In that case, the app would need to have a call-home address (usually the developer's website) in it to retrieve the latest version information. It's not required if the source is the Marketplace though, as it retrieved from the MP instead.

If your entry shows MarketPlace then click the "Check for updates" button at the top of the applications listing, and you'll likely end up with an available update.

Thanks both for the quick replies. I seem to have 1.6.8 and not 1.7.0 although its not telling me there is an update to it.
Like how the system software is:

The original upgrade message will allow me to update the software but if its any resources are under the 'needs updating' section, the software automatically disables this. I usually check my applications with some of the authors if they ever do go into that section before upgrading, as I don't want it to be disabled.
EDIT - Apologies for the wasted messages @Nathan Explosion @Adriano Faria. I've just asked for an update to check apps and teh 1.7.0 has popped up.
Do we think this is an issue with IPS updates function? I've popped in the AdminCP a few times today and that should auto check everytime I go in rather than me manually clicking it.

Pretty sure that is not a message that stops you from upgrading (it does say "After the upgrade process is complete...") nor is it a message indicating the app needs to be updated by the developer.
It's a message that you need to update your installed application, as there is a later version available. If you don't currently have 1.7.0 installed then there's your answer.

Just installed the marketplace version and I see no problem with it:
    - No message or app locked in Applications:

    - No error pointed by the PHP8 Compatibility Scanner:

    - No error in front end.

Where did you usee that message?

You may (if you use these features) need to provide the following after upgrading
Maxmind userid PayPal clientid/secret if using Pay Outs (typically, this would be the same as the PayPal gateway) You may need to apply for access to the PayPal Payout API if you do not already have it.

You should move the Poll widget to the Core (currently it is tied to the Forums app) and add a node class in the widget configuration form so we can use it in any app that supports polls.
