    It’s essentially a legacy feature that made sense up until 3.4 where things revolved around the forums. Cross-posting to the forum made sense to make your articles visible to the “forum audience”. I doubt IPS support will tell you anything else than what I told you here. The comment systems are independent. You would have to hire someone to write a custom conversion script to maintain your existing comments and change the settings.

    I don’t think so. If you disconnect from the forums, all articles will show “0 replies”. You can’t activate the change for new articles only.

    Yes, I use it in multiple cases on several sites. But there isn’t much to look at. A Wiki page works just like any other Pages database, just that multiple registered members can click the “edit” link.

    Nothing like that exists a stock option, but it should be no problem to have a developer write a little plugin for this. By the way: you probably don’t want the record listing template to do live calculations across many records. That will easily break the site. But it should be no problem to do these calculations in the background and store them somewhere.

    The release for 4.5 shouldn’t take long. Permissions for Pages databases can be set on the category level.

    I agree, but you can set any page you want already. What would make sense depends on the specific community. I have two communities where the “Latest Activity” feed from the discovery module is the homepage and one where a Pages database with latest articles is the homepage. Regarding the personalized widgets, there is a lot you can do with custom blocks on a Pages page, but you would have to be more specific what you would like to see in order to answer if it is possible already.

    There are no “correct dimensions” for SuperBlocks. Just upload the forum images in a way in makes sense for the forums. Unless it’s an extreme aspect ratio, it should work fine.

    You haven’t answered my question. 😉 Why would it be useful to read conversations backwards? You hinted at a different problem: “having to go down to the bottom”, but that is about accessing the unread posts as easy as possible. A post reversal doesn’t logically follow from that.

    Out of curiosity: How would a long topic make a reverse order more useful? Let’s say my topic has 200 old posts and 20 new ones. Do I want to read the 20 new ones in reverse order (where I see post 220 being a reply to 215, which I haven’t read yet and which references post 211, which I haven’t read yet … and so on and so forth)? Yes, I think the “theoretical discussions” make sense when they expose that people for example accidentally mix up feeds of unrelated content with linear discussions or make untrue statements like someone else saying that this represents “new habits”, when in fact no major community service (social media site, chat apps and so on) do this kind of reversal of discussions.

    There is no direct option to do this. It would require a custom plugin. The form doesn’t allow you to set the title automatically from the name of the record creator, nor does it allow it you to add stuff in front of it.

    Well, the obvious case would be that patch isn’t required since it was installed before or the latest update that was made already included it. Are you sure the problem you want to patch actually still exists?

    A typical case for a support ticket with IPS. It’s looking for the table “profile_completion” but it isn’t there. Someone with full site access needs to check why.

    There is no “intelligent plausibility check“ to merge different shipping options if possible. Either you use different options with individual payments or some kind of “average cost” system that ignores the specific prices (which is what many online shops do). I certainly know the problem. In my Commerce store I sell posters and smaller items like books. If someone buys a poster and a book, they will have to pay twice for shipping, since the long poster doesn’t fit in the book package and book doesn’t fit in the thin poster package. But this system can also lead to situations where two items could be combined into one package but the system just can’t know it and charges twice.

    I can’t help you there. That’s an IPS app. You could open a support ticket with IPS if you are unsure about buying/installing/activating Pages.

    ACP → Pages → Templates → Upload Templates Just follow the steps in the installation PDF. 🙂

    That is normal. It’s a template set for the Pages application. The templates are installed inside the Pages application.
