  1. So? It’s like saying to Apple years ago “every PC maker still puts in floppy disc drives and no user asked you to actively remove it so you need to keep it forever”. This kind of argument can be used against any change, and it turn it means nothing.
  2. You would need to pick “Custom” as field output type and add a code like this to the empty field: {{if $formValue}} {$value} {{endif}} Or if it is an HTML field: {{if $formValue}} {$value|raw} {{endif}} There is a plugin setting for that: “Listing fields position”
  3. No. Making that value editable could break the more complex layouts or make them look really weird.
  4. In general: Yes. You would create a new Record Display template and modify it. Showing the recent contributors is not directly possible though. I wish that were a stock feature as well when the Wiki functionality is turned on.
  5. While that ship has sailed anyway and with HTML as default saved post format being used for years now I’m sure that official BB code support will never return, I would like to make the general comment, that I it’s better to make a case than just deliver claims and assertions. Your posts claims over and over again that BB code is still important, but you don’t provide a single example. If I were in your shoes I would make a list of niches and specific sites where BB code is being used. I would provide code samples or links that make it clear that BB code trumps the alternative methods and so on. That would at least have a chance of convincing someone – in contrast to such obviously false claims as …
  6. Kind of. Having an instant alert on your phone (“[X] quoted you“) works differently than having to check your mail to even get a notification. All these Facebook groups, WhatsApp groups on so on thrive because everything happens so fast. A typical forum use, where you post something and come back one or two days later to manually check if there is a reply feels pretty old-school in comparison. (Not that I am a fan of all this. I usually turn off push notifications. But I can still say that it is extremely effective in regards to user engagement.)
  7. I think you answered your question right there. People are drawn back into their apps for Facebook/Twitter/their messenger apps and so on all day every day, but the same is not possible for any IPS community, since there are no push notifications. So it’s no wonder when forums are on decline while social media wins.
  8. It is with the optional Pages Category Image plugin.
  9. Yes, it’s technically possible, but I decided against it, since there are layouts where the image sits behind text and other links (like the profile picture) so it would get kind of messy with overlaying links.
  10. No, it’s not a bug. The plugin has settings where you can chose to either show more or less images, or hi-res and lo-res images depending on the content type. And as said before, there needs to be a proper image in the content to begin with.
  11. Looks all correct from what I can see. So not sure what to suggest. I could have a look at it in your ACP if you set up an admin account.
  12. You need to set up a page with the article database, yes. Categories are optional.
  13. I don’t understand what you are saying.
  14. Okay. I can’t see the behavior in my main browser (Safari), but I do see it in Firefox. I make a note and probably resolve it in the next maintenance release. The issue is too minor to offer a new version just for this I’m afraid. In the meantime, you can either perform these actions in the ACP or you can (temporarily or permanently) turn off the plugin setting to turn the images into links. That also resolves the issue.
  15. You’re missing what that means for the users. It‘ not like they see a blank screen until the 2 MB are fully loaded. The page rendering will start exactly at the same time, with or without lazyload, if the image dimensions are known. With lazyload, there might be a tiny loading advantage above-the-fold and then a disadvantage of newly introduced wait time while scrolling. Without lazyload you don’t have that scrolling wait time, but a slightly slower above-the-fold finish time. Again, I tested this and could not see clear benefits for a typical use of my template products and even a considerably worse experience in some cases. You could, but I do not recommend it. If you modify any template, you can’t receive updates for it anymore. Also keep in mind that native browser lazyload is coming. I’m happy to support that in the future, since it is a proper and elegant solution. JavaScript-based lazyload really is not.
  16. It takes the first attachment from the topic.
  17. I can’t replicate this problem.
  18. The changes are mostly for the desktop view.
  19. It will show images, when there are attachments uploaded to the topic.
  20. See product description: It will not work on embedded Imgur images.
  21. That’s how IPS has designed it. It falls back to that behavior, when you turn the SuperGrid image display off. Not sure I want to mess with that at the moment. But I can revisit it for a future update. Sure.
  22. Not sure what you mean. The image shouldn’t interact with the title at all.
  23. No, it never occurred to me to consider that. Thanks for enlightening us. </sarcasm>
