I want a feature that will take down all Social Media sites (every single last one of them) permanently, so people will have no choice but to return to forums lol; well, you did say 'dream feature' in your topic title, so that's my 'dream' lol 😉

I've now finished the modifications to the clubs feature and have added two clubs to view.  I've taken my time over adding content to this site and hope that everyone who loves Irish music, whatever its form, will enjoy the site.

I want to use the clubs feature on my upcoming site, but the amount of work needed to get it looking like I want is seriously time consuming;  changing the layout via template changes and adding extra CSS to get the look I want is challenging, but not impossible.  For example - the name of the club should not be overlaid on the image, but below; that horrible transparent background is ugly to say the least.  The image itself is way too small.
So, some extra thought into how the actual club card looks should be addressed, with some template changes and CSS added that can be applied via options.  The concept is excellent, the implementation is lacking.  Once I get the clubs up and running I will come back with both a link and what I had to do to get the look I wanted 🙂

I like where your head is at in terms of how to present Clubs.
I'm excited to see what you come up with when it's all said and done! Please share here when you're ready 😃

I keep trying but every (closed) club is like starting a new community from scratch and I never get clubs busy enough. I don’t use the open clubs. That doesn’t make much sense to me because it goes against the club concept of joining a club first.
Paid clubs would be an interesting concept once we can have Pages databases in clubs. That would open up lots of options like paid online courses.

OK here's a first look - I can't provide a link as the site isn't fully ready yet.

I've removed all the fluff on the card itself and move the name down under the image; I've also made the image clickable to make entry into the Club easier.  On right side bar I've removed what I consider to be non-essential to my own needs and tidied up the positioning to give it a more aesthetic look.  Personally, I feel this will give the directory a more pleasing to the eye look as well as making it more functional and less cluttered.
I've pretty much done the same on the Club itself when entering it.

Removed all the unwanted fluff that overlaid the image retaining only the link to add an image.  I'm also using this add-in to improve functionality:
There is one template edit and the rest is done purely through CSS - the media queries were a bit tricky to ensure mobile and tablet continuity - there may be a few phones that are not covered by the media queries, but they are less commonplace than the mainstream phones; the queries can easily be adapted if needs require.
I must point out that you may need to make some slight adjustments to the CSS depending on the theme you are using; I'm using the Novus theme by @ehren.
Once I've made sure everything is as I expect it to be, I'll post the template edit and the CSS used.

Hey team, happy Hump Day! It's officially the last one of 2021. 😢
But there are many more to come (don't all cheer at once) 😆!
New Year's Resolutions tend to be hit or miss for many. I personally love them because I love moments in life where we can set a new goal during a time of renewal. The beginning of a new year feels transformative.
Please share your New Year's Resolution(s) in the replies. It doesn't necessarily need to be community-related. I think if you accomplish a goal, it will translate to a better community anyway; everyone wins!
We can fire up this topic in a year from now and see how things went.
I'll start: mine is to be more fully present. Oftentimes I get carried away with a goal and thinking about the future that I forget to stop and smell the roses. I'm looking forward to being in the moment more... whatever happens happens.
How about you? Looking forward to knowing more about you!

Here is a little roundup of updates and fixes from the short holiday week. 👍
    - Fixed an issue where streams limited by tags did not show any results when using Elastic Search.
    - Added ability to allow adminitrators to fire webhooks for specific events.
    - Fixed a minor issue when converting soft deleted topics from MyBB.
    - Added ability to allow administrators to fire webhooks for specific events.

    Happy New Year!

    More no-media days in 2022:
No radio in the morning: I start the day with silence. No smartphone to pass the time: I abstain from messengers like WhatsApp. I put my smartphone in flight mode. No computer wasting time: computer work is OK, of course, but I keep my hands off cat videos, Twitter and other stuff. I switch off the desktop when I do not work. No news consumption: I take a break from dealing with other people's trivial problems. My radio station in the car is in Swahili, I just listen to the music and don't understand the news.  No TV: I keep it turned off. When I lie down on the sofa, I just relax.  No media for sleep aid: I end the day with silence.  I was surprised how restful such days can be, and I plan to set up more such days next year.

Which means it's practically useless now as it will always be giving false readings - I understand the performance impact issue, but how much of an issue is it if it wasn't an immediately obvious noticeable impact before it was introduced.  If it's cached then how often is the cache updated and would be an idea to give admins an option as to how often it gets updated and allow them to decide what impact on performance it has 🙂

Without the Marketplace developers we wouldn't have a lot of the really cool stuff that takes advantage of the IPS framework and allows us to push the boundaries of what our sites can offer and do.  They were the unsung heroes until now, with this post.  They are ALL very much appreciated for their hard work, diligence, support and continued contributions.

WOW! Definitely NOT impressed with the new pricing structure - this is taking it out of the ballpark for a lot of people.  I was looking forward to the revamped CIC and was considering it, but not now. Even self-hosted is now very pricy and I can see your competitors hoovering up the ones you've scared off.  Not sure this was a wise move, but then it depends on who you want as clients.
The general makeover is OK, nothing that makes me go WOW! (other than your prices lol).
Whoah!  I've just logged into the client area and I see my renewal price has gone from $40 every six months to this:

    Is this a mistake?

Davyc got a reaction from Maxxius in Pages - Update
I've spoken briefly in other topics on how lamentable the Pages app is for those who do not possess the skills to create their own templates and layouts. The Pages app is heralded as one of the most powerful applications in the suite, and it may be for those who can harness the power it yields.  For everyone else it is a minefield to navigate and a lot of people either just give up on it or resort to plugins from the marketplace, which are generally pretty good at what they offer but they are limited by the functions which developer has designed the plugin to do.
One of the most powerful page layout generators I have come across is a WordPress plugin called the Divi Builder (made by www.elgantthemes.com) - it is one hell of a powerful tool that allows you to develop complex pages using adaptable rows and columns.  An example of some of the basic layouts offered (which can be applied on a row by row basis) is shown below:

At present, Pages is constrained to 1,2 or 3 column layouts which cannot be applied on a row by row basis.  For example you CAN mix some columns in Pages but you are stuck with X number of columns on top/bottom with a single column that sits above or below; you can't have single column, two/three column another single column and another two/three column layout, etc.
The other pain with Pages is that the column widths are non-negotiable; two columns will span the width of the container equally - you can't have one column take up 60% of the real estate with the other column taking up the other 40%, that is incredibly restrictive.
I'm not advocating that Pages mimic the Divi Builder in all of the features it brings - it's module based and there are loads of different modules that can be dragged into the layout - but Pages can make a start by giving more power to layouts.  That would be a massive improvement on what sits there now.
The other noticeable missing aspect is the ability to add pages to a page layout.  Very long articles would be better if they were broken into pages much like a book.  Single column layouts could have an added feature of making a page columned where the text will flow naturally from one column to another, much as it does in Microsoft Word, for those reading on wider screens.
Stacking order for columns on smaller screens would be another feature bonus where you can choose to stack the most important blocks near the top with the least important below.
This is just the tip of the iceberg as to what Pages can become as truly outstanding CMS application within the IPS Suite.  How much work would lie behind such an undertaking I have no idea, but it would be worthwhile and it would be a huge boon to those who want to harness the power of the Pages application and create some beautiful page layouts that capture the imagination.
Thoughts? More suggestions also welcome as this is something that can be of benefit to everyone.  Thanks for reading.

    Thanks for that @opentype
Took a little finding as the ACP search returned Zero results for it, but like @Dexter_X I eventually found it.  As I don't use many blocks on my site, I reduced the time to a 1 minute interval and will see how it goes.  I do agree that some additional controls would be good to have that could be set for individual blocks so they can be prioritised and perhaps be less of a hit on performance 🙂
Thanks again for the info - much appreciated.
