CheersnGears reacted to Randy Calvert in BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) for IPS
In no way can IPS do anything with this. In a self hosted setup, all of the work is done at DNS and having a logo file hosted.
In IPS cloud, email does not come from the domain itself. Otherwise it would require cloud also taking over email hosting AND having AWS approve each domain to send email. (There are other threads that talk about that.)
Basically if you want this, you can do it on your own outside of IPB. It’s not something that can be setup at all through the software. Just realize if you do peruse it … that setup will not work with most major mail providers without you spending over 1K per year and proving you have a registered trademark for your logo.

@beats23 - you can install BIMI without getting the certificate, but not all mail clients will recognize it that way, gmail and outlook being two that won't. EMClient and other lesser known ones might. EMClient seems to.
You'll need to get your logo into a very specific SVG format and upload it to the root of your website and then install the DNS tag, so it's relatively low effort if you want to try.

This is not done within the IPB software. This is done though DNS with things like SPF and DKIMM.
Unless you have a registered trademark on your logo (this is supposed to be changing) and are prepared to spend north of $1000 a year for the BIMI VMC certificate, this can’t be done.

Each email provider decides what certificate companies they will accept. Google only supports Entrust and DigiCert currently.

Oh okay. Maybe an "Autopay on" indicator in the client area would clear things up then.

CheersnGears reacted to Matt in Google now supports discussion forum and profile page structured data
We can provide the tools and you can decide how to use them. Google taking forum content seriously after years of "user generated content" being rated down can only be a good thing overall.

You noted above you were more comfortable with centos. I would go Alma for that reason. Otherwise you’re going to have to learn differences between the two OS.

CheersnGears got a reaction from Joel R in Add a "Providers Directory" as a feature to Invision Community
Some of us (many of us?) are not coders, and in this day of Elementor, Wix, etc, do not wish to become one. I don't want to spend my time learning how coding something like that when I could be using it to write content for my sites.

CheersnGears got a reaction from Jim M in Introducing Community Hive
Visiting forums is not a zero sum game. In fact, if we cooperated more closely as site admins, we’d do better than we do now. I am already looking at ways to use community hive to work with sites similar to my own to cite topics of interest on other sites on my own site
I’m a general car news site but I can see me citing Pontiac Forums on my site when I see a particularly interesting topic.
It would be a topic of discussion for my users and send some traffic to the Pontiac forums guy. Ideally other sites would do the same.
I think it’s a mistake to be jealous of our traffic to other sites at our level. We are not Facebook. Sure, keep traffic from Facebook, but share amongst us smaller-than-Facebook sites. We’ve had very good results from sharing traffic with “competitors”

We believe in the power of an owned community. However, we also believe the age of "my community as an island" is over and it is imperative that community managers engage with the ocean of the wider internet rather than putting walls around their little islands.
We made Community Hive as a step in the direction of allowing your community to be part of a larger network. With that same mindset, it is also why we are opening it up to other platforms.
With the implosion of social media, now is the time to broaden your horizons and avoid putting up more walls.
Community Hive is only one piece of a broader strategy we have that will take time to implement. IPS does not just view itself as a software company churning out a "ye olde forum script." We see ourselves as a community solutions company and solutions can take many forms.
I posted this same message on Community Hive as it would be best to chat about Community Hive... on Community Hive 😉

I think some sample Pages databases with different use cases would be nice for V5.

That is the whole purpose of Community Hive! Every interaction with it intends to drive customer/clients/users BACK to your community. It does not want to be the center of attention!

Looking forward seeing more communities entering the Hive. 🙂
