Security update for Invision Community 5
I'm using the patch process, I get to the login/confirmation switch and then just get a spinny circle and it returns to that. Logs: LogicException::0 #0 /var/www/vhosts/cheersandgears.com/dev.cheersandgears.com/applications/core/modules/admin/system/upgrade.php(576): IPS\core\modules\admin\system\upgrade->_getDownloadKey() #1 /var/www/vhosts/cheersandgears.com/dev.cheersandgears.com/system/Helpers/Wizard/Wizard.php(194): IPS\core\modules\admin\system\upgrade->_login() #2 /var/www/vhosts/cheersandgears.com/dev.cheersandgears.com/applications/core/modules/admin/system/upgrade.php(171): IPS\Helpers\Wizard->__toString() #3 /var/www/vhosts/cheersandgears.com/dev.cheersandgears.com/system/Dispatcher/Controller.php(139): IPS\core\modules\admin\system\upgrade->manage() #4 /var/www/vhosts/cheersandgears.com/dev.cheersandgears.com/applications/core/modules/admin/system/upgrade.php(116): IPS\Dispatcher\Controller->execute() #5 /var/www/vhosts/cheersandgears.com/dev.cheersandgears.com/system/Dispatcher/Dispatcher.php(169): IPS\core\modules\admin\system\upgrade->execute() #6 /var/www/vhosts/cheersandgears.com/dev.cheersandgears.com/admin/index.php(15): IPS\Dispatcher->run() #7 {main}

Invision Community 5.0.4 Releases
To be clear, I amended my bug to say that it is also happening when I try to create content. Edit: And just updated to 5.0.4 and it still does it.

Invision Community 5.0.4 Releases
I know that each update takes a different amount of time to complete, but another Kudos I think the IPS team deserves for IPS5 is that it rips through applying its updates significantly faster than IPS4 ever did. Running on the same server with an exact copy of my database and files, the IPS5 install is sooooo much faster to process.

Invision Community 5.0.4 Releases
You can now build a page with several blocks from the same database and have the next block pick up where the previous block left off. I do this in V4, but I needed an extra plug-in and some custom blocks to do it. Now with this update in V5, there's no need for a plugin or custom blocks. You can check out my V4 front page at Cheers and Gears The first block only displays one article. The second block starts at article 2 and displays three articles in a different format. The third block picks up at article 5 and displays 5 articles in a third format. Etc. With this update, you can replicate this general layout for a front page in 10 minutes or less with no code.

Invision Community 5.0.4 Releases
What's weird is if I don't type and just scroll, it doesn't hang the browser. It only hangs if I manually type the tag I'm looking for.

Invision Community 5.0.4 Releases
No, leave it. Tag manager is a welcome addition, but it is causing browsers to hang when trying to type a tag. That said, I have 71 pages of tags to manage.

Invision Community 5.0.4 Releases
This is so transformative for Pages. Thank you to @Esther E. for taking the time with me to understand the use case for it. I can now build a News front page from stock IPS without having to build custom blocks.

Dev Site Quandary - File Locations
CheersnGears replied to CheersnGears's topic in Invision Community 5: Beta Testing's Beta DiscussionThese's sorts of tips in the proper order would make for a great help document. I'm not saying you include the basics like how to copy the databases or files, but pointing out that S3 usage is a consideration and the ways to shut down auto billing and e-mails before they happen would be a great guide for us Admins.

CheersnGears replied to CheersnGears's topic in Invision Community 5: Beta Testing's Beta DiscussionA page for setting up test install clones with these considerations would be welcome.

Dev Site Quandary - File Locations
CheersnGears replied to CheersnGears's topic in Invision Community 5: Beta Testing's Beta DiscussionThank you. I think this could be important workflow and might even need to be a note in the download section to warn people if they use S3 so they aren't accidentally upgrading their live site files.

Dev Site Quandary - File Locations
I am trying to clone my site to my test install, but I use S3 for file storage. I realize if I upgrade the test install it will change files on S3 as well. Can someone help me think of a workflow to get a test site created so I can do a dry run upgrade to IPS5?

IC5: Introduction to Listeners
Is that a cause or effect? The number of offerings in the marketplace has dwindled significantly during V4's lifetime.

iPhone notifications, web app and more
I'm not a cloud fan, but 30 euros a month for a server in the EU with decent ram/power/ and over 500g of space doesn't seem like realistic pricing. One of those specs doesn't add up. Maybe a VPS, but then you're not getting a lot of space and certainly not the performance. The cpanel license alone is 15 a month.

iPhone notifications, web app and more
@Matt - Can I make the suggestion now that we have this: On ./notifications/options/ can the section "Notification Types Available" be moved to the top of the page? As I'm typing up the instructions for my users, the flow of the instructions isn't very user-friendly.

iPhone notifications, web app and more
Note: There is a character limit for the short name field, but I'm finding inconsistent information on exactly what that number is because it can be different for Chrome or iOS, but err on the side of shorter. That said, Cheers & Gears does just barely fit... so for iOS, that limit might be ~14

April Release Chat: Rescheduled!
I like how the chat questions turned into questions here, but when there is a reply to the question, shouldn't the username of the question asker be in the header of the quote?

Hump Day: what are some of your community pain points?
I use the option of Pages creating the Topics for comments to do two things at once. Even with shorter stuff because there's the Article which I want/need to promote and the forums for the chatter about said article. I am in several Press guilds and while I'm not published in MotorTrend or Car & Driver, I do rub elbows with them and would like my articles to look professional and not just a post on a forum. I'll select some articles to share tomorrow.
