  1. Bone stock theme aside from colors and logo. I'm just saying that the description box should be large enough to hold one IPS embed widget without scrolling. If someone wants to post the encyclopedia in there, I get that it needs a scrollbar, but since IPS controls the widget size, the box should be at least large enough to display one widget without a scroll.
  2. I try to tie my article to the related gallery and vice versa. Embedding the article in the Gallery description gets you a little scrolly bar because the description field doesn't display large enough. It's probably a bug on my site. Articles embed automatically but Galleries do not. It's only my Dev site and you are welcome to take a look for trouble shooting purposes. I'll need to add Dev site access info to my client area. I'll get that in a minute. For sub-categories, it doesn't seem to recognize any change at all. I can set to inherit from the database setting, I can set it manually to what I want it to be, neither case works. To clarify a bit, I have my categories set up like this: News Brand It's the listing of the Categories that isn't respecting the setting. So if you open "Chevrolet" for example, you see the articles in the Grid format. But if you open News, the sub-categories under that display only in a list. I realized as I looked into it more that I am getting a grid in V4 because I use @opentype 's SuperGrid templates, but I do feel that if the articles can be listed as a grid, the categories should be able to be listed as a grid as well. This is my V4 News category with sub-category grid: It's also possible that this is a weird artifact that dates back to V3. For reasons lost to the memories of time, Brand news subcategories were placed under News category. I notice that if I move a brand out to the top level rather than being under the new category, it will display in a similar fashion as above without OpenType's template. But if it is under the News category, it only shows as a list. I'd be happy to jump on a screenshare session with someone to show what I mean. Thank you!
  3. yeah, I saw. I have abandonment issues. I want it in pages rather than a dedicated app where a developer could disappear like MikeJohn.
  4. Having gone through the V3 -> V4 conversion, I will say that V4 - V5 is orders of magnitude smoother than the prior jump. I am not known for holding back my criticism of IPS, but they've done a superb job on this. Will all your apps and themes transfer over? No, they never do, so why expect it this time? I'm going to lose the Collections app but I've already started to rebuild a Pages clone of it in V4. Pages is finally going to be the transformative app I've been pushing IPS for since the beginning of V4 and I encourage everyone to use their imagination for what will now be possible without coding. From a content generation perspective, Pages is just a couple minor revision numbers away from being superior to Wordpress out of the box for non-coder site admins. If IPS adds a little more non-code customization to the article feed blocks, I think they will genuinely achieve that. I say that as someone who runs several Wordpress sites, and even with 15+ years WP experience, still fights with block builders daily. I upgraded my V4 to V5 and had my front page rebuilt in less than 30 minutes and will be fully complete once this change comes to 5.04. I'd spend more time than that just setting up all the damn plug-ins in Wordpress before I even got around to page layout. It's new software, so there are bugs, and there are things that are annoyingly depreciated for no good reason, but very few of us are going to hit a wall that we cannot work around. The software isn't ready for me to move to yet, but it's so darn close that I can taste it already. Again, a huge congrats to the entire IPS team from one of your long-time curmudgeons. You've all done a fantastic job.
  5. Test site and working out the bugs. If I embed content, an article in this case, into the gallery description, the description window isn’t tall enough to contain the embed it without requiring a scroll or “read more” after I save. Gallery doesn’t embed in articles. (this may be a bug on my Dev site) If tags are used in an article and forum is used for comments, tags don’t carry over to the thread. Pages - Subcategories don't seem to honor either the database selected layout or the subcategory selected listing layout.

And without the offset plugin, that’s how I had to do things and I’d have loads of custom blocks to maintain. If it is built into the primary widget setting, I can just put up a bunch of standard issue IPS blocks and adjust settings as needed.

I also sent you a PM with my dev site information so you can look at what I have so far.

No. I want to build a page full of various blocks from the same database, but those blocks should be able to pick up where the previous block left off. The reason I want this is so that I can have, for example, the latest 3 articles at the top in a carousel format, then maybe another block of some in a grid, then below that I might want a compact list. Take a look at my front page. I did that with 5 blocks, each with a different layout, all pulling from the same database, and I use the offset plugin I mentioned to increment the articles as the blocks progress. There is an added benefit of being able to insert ads if I want to, but that is almost secondary. I'm trying to build a web-magazine type layout with this. My current blocks use a modified version of @opentype's SuperBlocks template, but I could come pretty darn close to replicating my V4 front page out of the box in V5 if I had that offset feature. I'm not saying I need my V5 site to be identical to my V4, but this functionality would be game changing for Pages. Offset is something I use all the time on my wordpress sites for this same reason and it would significantly increase the power and flexibility of Pages. Also, while I have you, a toggle to turn off the block header/name would be welcome too. When building a page like this, we don't need to display the name/title of each block feed. I know you can delete out the text from the title, but the vestigial bar still renders at the top of the block with no text in it.

Update: I upgraded my test site to V5 today. There were some hiccups, but it went much faster than expected. Missing this offset feature (available in V3, removed from V4, added to V4 by plug-in, NEEDED in V5) is literally the only thing holding me back from being able to pull the trigger on my live site. I have no way to easily rebuild my front page without it.
  11. What will end up happening is that you can use it for now until Sendgrid makes some update to their API and IPS will just say "sorry, unsupported. Move to the more expensive service that we prefer. no choice for you."
  12. Nope. Father IPS always knows what's best for us.
  13. So what's the point of depreciating an integration like the Sendgrid API then? It's an e-mail API, it can't be changing that often that it is requiring a lot of coding hours. PostMark is more expensive and has limitations on the number of domains you can use on the lower end plans. This is one of those things that is a viable service, it can't be costing a lot of your time, and loads of us already use it so removing it just makes more work for us and pisses us off.
  14. What happens to the current tags during an upgrade? Tags have been a mess for years, so I don't mind the change, but I'd like to know if I'm going to have to go back and re-tag every article.

I use it to build my front page with a series of blocks. News block one shows three articles, then I place a block with an ad. News block two shows three articles from the same database and category, but starts with an offset of 4, so it shows article 4, 5, and 6. Then another ad. Then news block 3 has an offset of 7 and shows 7,8,9. I

Starting record offset in Block builder. Only been asking for it since V4.0.0

Bumping this as it is still needed. This is exactly how I did it. There was a plug-in available for V4 that I use to achieve it. Oddly, this feature was available in the latter half of the V3 series run for blocks, but never made it to V4. This is pretty basic stuff for a CMS to be able to do.
  18. Will need this again for V5. I don't understand why IPS can't see fit to include this extremely minor feature.
  19. I don't seem to have gotten my Sendgrid integration back after the update, nor is the SMTP/PHP option functioning correctly. (Works under SMTP, but the setting doesn't visually reflect that)
  20. Additional info - apparently even though the setting shows PHP after saving for SMTP, it still saves SMTP information and uses that. I did some pings through MXToolbox and confirmed. That no longer exists.
  21. Unfortunately, it's even more broken than originally thought. I can enter all of the SMTP relay information into the board settings, send a successful test, save the settings. The next time I come back to that page, it has reverted back to PHP.
  22. So... should we just not send e-mails?
  23. Yes, I've been using it for years. The only reason I noticed that it got pulled was because there was an outgoing deferred e-mail stuck in my local server queue which should never happen because the server isn't used for e-mail
  24. Or not.... it got removed from my site. Quite annoyed. Is there any specific reason SendGrid is being depreciated? It's been a good service for me. Plus, Stu's bouncer plug-in works with it.
