Excellent update! I'm excited about this, and I think given the 100's of gallery improvement posts and topics over the years, you've done a great job in identifying where to start and what to prioritise.
Thank you for sorting the obviously long overdue UI issues, especially the navigation and Lightbox. Hopefully it won't be as intrusive autoloading. Great to see it less crowded. I was intending to add integration with AWS Rekognition to create image tags, so that's a nice touch.
Gallery has always been a good app, better than most in terms of functionality but it needed these modern updates every is now so used from the best WP galleries. Less JS is hugely welcome, even if less reliance on JQuery for vanilla JS, and finally native lazyloading; please add that throughout the suite immediately!
Looking forward to seeing more of the category, album and image layouts. Will there be a choice of layouts in terms of masonry, grid, filterable etc?
Any plans for Gallery integration with Commerce?
A great start to modernising this app. 😋

By any chance would this be able to extend to the Contact Us page as well?

The most important feature of the Calendar for our site, is to show the birthdays of our members.  This feature has been removed, so not happy at all with this change.

100% on Twitch, all the way. Would be a gamechanger.

This is really well executed. I especially like the implementation of online events, and the month selector. Really well done.
    P.S:
The "Search Events" panel has too much padding The date display in the top-left corner of the larger event block also has too much padding. Although I see why you did it this way (so it's inline with the content in it), it looks wrong compared to the smaller blocks below it where it is actually in the corner. It's also not inline with its content in the smaller block. You should push it to the corner but make it bigger in the larger block. The filters on the map view need some tidying: "Back" / "Sort By" buttons butt up against the controls above, which are unevenly spaced, and the top of the "Search" button is misaligned with the top of the labels. Visiting the Calendar probably shouldn't prompt the user to provide their geolocation until they interact with something. Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

Is there any mean of monetizing these events?

Will there be a way to inject these from an iCal Feed or third party who already maintains a calendar of events. I am doing part of this now by subscribing to a calendar into the calendar app.
What about Twitch as streaming platform?

This is still the calendar app with a new name and some enhancements, so you're still be able to import ical feeds

Matomo Analytics is like Google analytics hosted on your own site:
    https://matomo.org/
It 's free, it will run faster since it doesn't have to connect to another server, and all your site data remains private.

I started out in '96 with a cgi script every post / reply was a file on the server. Then switched to UBBTreads that uses sql and php. Then there was an upset in that community and several devs left and started FusionBB was on there till it floundered in '09 and I found my way home here.

Well, been with IPB about 20 years... maybe 19 years and months, still believe this is the best board script out there... 🙂

My brother and I ran some gaming forums a long, long time ago. We started with Ikonboard and switched over to IPB when it first released.
My account here was created November 2002! 😉 I haven't run a forum in a very long time, but I'm thinking of spinning one up soon. I've kept up with Invision all these years and it's exciting to see how far IPB has come.

It has been a long time... Have I really gotten that old?
It was just last year in summer of 2003 I was on a poetry board when the owner asked to create a skin for it and gave me the first look at a real Admin Control Center.
I found my first IPB free version about the same time in my cPanel a couple of years before it became purchase only. A few days after my Birthday in 2005 I purchased my board. A few months after that I purchased the Blog and before I knew it the IDM and Gallery were in my possession.
As I recall in late 2006 there (back then IPB had phone support). Well, I acquired a serious issue and for whatever reason I could get through. A few hours later I received a phone call from (98% sure) a lady by the name of Debbie who worked with me and found the issue my license key was compromised, and she had to send me a new one.
The only reason I brought this up is because back then the techs could take the time. Like Mat said How were they to know what 20 years would bring. Well, here is to another 20 my friends. I may not be here then to celebrate in the physical form, but may be in the Spiritual form.

Interesting. My Board is celebrating its 20th Anniversary next month as well. I launched Ikonboard software in 2002 almost as a whim, and as a section to website I had created. I stuck with Ikonboard way too long, and past when it was no longer supported. When server costs soared due the strain Perl demanded I was thinking of throwing in the towel. But Member input and that I found that IPB could do a Conversion of my Board saved it, and in 2016 the IPB Support staff successfully (or as close as possible) Converted my Board to IPB. I wish I hadn’t waited so long. Congratulations to the owners and staff of IPB.

Happy to have been running a forum with IPB since February 2003 (and we're still going). Version 1.1.1 was our first (live) iteration - never regretted the decision to go with Matt and the Invision folk - noble creatures all!
    Our first skin (apologies):

And our version number - the newest member name doesn't reflect the content of the site...

The short version is that I built another platform called Ikonboard, got overwhelmed, sold it to someone who made promises and then broke those promises. This someone had also bought something Charles built. Charles and I decided it was time to move on so started "IBForums/Invision Power Services" together. From that time, I think only Rikki was involved in Ikonboard although most of the team have been with is for 10-15+ years.

Ipb has come a long way since you guys founded it 20 years ago. It has become the undisputed leader in the forum software world. Congratulation on 20th anniversary, and I wish you guys many more years of success.

Congratulations @Matt and TeamIPS! Wow, 20 years! That's gone so fast, now I do feel like an old man. I came along for the ride from the small town of Ikonboard and never looked back; there's no other 'message board' I'd use or recommend.

Thanks for these useful updates to Spam Management. These are always welcome.
In all honesty I was a bit disappointed to see no mention of improved anti-spam measures relating to the Contact Form though. I know all communities have varying spam problems, but this is where I get the majority if not most of spam from, not from by people registering on the forums thanks to the existing Spam Defence measures, which in recent years have been much more effective for spam posts.
Fortunately we have @Nathan Explosion's free Contact Form plugin that provides a quick check for previously banned email addresses to prevent spammers and banned members from using the Contact Form. Although there's no stats integration that I'm aware of, it's a free plugin with a quick hook into the banned email addresses, it helps in a big way. You you can tell it's working because email from repeat spammers just suddenly ceases arriving in your inbox, and the funny bonus thing is that the sender is oblivious and thinks the spam is still getting through, wasting their time, and not yours.
Also, I noticed no mention of supporting the latest versions of Google Recapcha, which seems an obvious starting point for anti-spam improvements.
Sorry to be a bit negative, these latest updates are really welcome and much appreciated, just pointing out there seems to be a few missed opportunities. With my pointy stick.
