How on earth do you monetize this nearly as much as a website?  Also, many sites have far more features to them then the forums. Having an app for one segment of the site and not others fractures the experience of the site.
Fwiw I get email alerts and they pop up just like push notifications on my phone. No major delta imo.
That can't be the only reason. You can get push notifications via 3rd party services if that was all it was.

Typically you would edit globalTemplate and add whatever you want to the <head> of the document, or you can use the live meta tag editor to add meta tags to your site (if you set the URL as "*" the tags will apply to every page).

You can just create your own robots.txt file and upload it via FTP to your host, or if you’re using CiC, just create a new page called robots.txt

Open PhpMyAdmin, go to forums_posts table and add default value (for example NULL) to charmod_name field. Should be fine then.

That's an issue with a 3rd party application or plugin which added a custom column to your forums_posts database table called charmod_name

Hi @CodingJungle, I've been using the Duplicate Detection app, and other than a possible bug I reported before, it has made a change in my community, so thank you for creating and supporting this app. I charge subscriptions to access some parts of my forum and it's amazing to see the amount of people who have created multiple accounts just to waive a small fee. (As I also use a teaser system that allows non-subscribers to see a few topics per day).
Now, if I may, I would like to make two suggestions. The first one is regarding this thread. As a user it's becoming too difficult to follow when it deals with multiple, unrelated applications at once. It would be much easier if you had one support topic per application/plugin. You'd just need to follow them and I don't think that would add more work for you, if you go by your notifications (maybe all it would take is asking people to "mention" or "quote" you, so you can be sure you'll get a notification). But of course, entirely up to you; I won't love your app any less for it. 😉
The second suggestion is about the app itself. It would be great if you were able to add a new option to the settings, where apart from us being able to choose between banning or sending a PM, you could move the member to another group and send a PM too.
Reason being, banning is a bit too radical IMHO; it may be warranted in some cases, but not in others... and that's the reason why I don't use it. So, currently I send automatic PMs instead, but then in practical terms, the workload is on me to review each case and send a PM after any changes to the account/s. I have suddenly found myself with a new daily task of following this up.
However, if we were able to automatically change groups, we could put detected members into a group where you basically have very few permissions, and also sending a PM explaining them and asking them to contact us to resolve the problem. This would reduce this workload since it would be up to them to contact us, and we wouldn't have to worry until they do.
Plus, and this is a big factor, we wouldn't need to chase up from behind an ever growing amount of newly created accounts, as it happens to be the case for me. This is a problem that those who use the "Ban" option probably don't have, but those, like me, who use the "Send PM" option certainly do.
In visual terms, what I suggest is something like this (together of course with a setting where you select the group they are moved into, which I forgot to include here).

    Thanks for reading, cheers.

PPlanet got a reaction from DawPi in Allowing users to post in own topics after moving
@DawPi made a plugin for me that does that. When I started charging subscriptions for access to some subforums, I wanted the topics starters to still be able to see and post in their own threads, even without a subscription (meaning even without the secondary group that buying a subscription assigns to them). What he made for me does more than that, but that it's certainly a part of it. So, you may want to PM him and discuss it with him.

there is a small problem when there aren't enough cards and the column's default height is too high, it triggers the scroll mechanism. this has been fixed in the next version (which i'm currently testing). you might be able to fix this temporarily tho with going into your theme settings, and setting the column default min height to around 200px to 250px.
it also looks like the theme settings didn't get added correctly to your theme, cause several of those cards should have white text, if you didn't change them, here are the defaults (cause sometimes theme settings don't get updated or stored correctly when being installed/updated on the app):
    Dark Text: stratagem_dark_text stratagem_dark_background stratagem_dark_scroll stratagem_dark_boxshadow stratagem_dark_borders #00000 stratagem_dark_light_text stratagem_dark_light_background #FFFFF stratagem_dark_my_vote_down #DC143C stratagem_dark_my_complete #006400 stratagem_dark_stars #FFCA7D light Text: stratagem_light_text stratagem_light_background stratagem_light_scroll stratagem_light_boxshadow stratagem_light_borders #FFFFF stratagem_light_dark_text stratagem_light_dark_background #00000 stratagem_light_my_vote_down #800000 stratagem_light_my_complete #00FF00 stratagem_light_stars #FF9800
the problem is with the support topics themselves. no matter what i do, its almost impossible to integrate any number of topics into my workflow. i can't mark a topic/post as "done/fixed/not a bug/etc" nor i can i filter out the invalid ones for the valid ones, they are extremely inefficient. so you can see how difficult they are for us developers to work from. if you go to my site, you can see each app has its own support section on the download and a vast majority of them have their own stratagem project. IPS keeps promising improvements in this area for the marketplace, but most of those promises are approaching vaporware status, as they are at least a year old now.

    i've added it to stratagem.

I don't believe it would be, it might be ( i don't have any 4.3 version to test out on), i don't recall if there was any backwards breaking changes for 4.4 or any of its subsequent updates.
tbh i don't know if it is more powerful, i use it mostly now for all my projects with my long term clients, they love (lot of them have began to use it for other things other than development).  it has a lot features as is, and more to come with 2.0 and i'm always open for new suggestions, i can't guarantee i will implement them all (as i originally intended it for development, so it has a lot of features that are good for development, that i'm currently in 2.0 to allow them to be disabled at least for non development use).
i can certainly say its cheaper than most kanban type sites out there, it also has the added benefit since it integrates into IPS (my clients really didn't like the idea of 'yet another login', so this allowed me to add it to their site, which guaranteed for me at least, they would actually use it and they do).
    https://codingjungle.com/stratagem/projects/1-stratagem/

here are some links to check out its current feature set and see the progress that has been made for 2.0 (also it in action as i use it for its own development). there are also a couple of videos here, one to show off a few features of it and the second video is mostly new features in 2.0 (its not an exhaustive list of the work that has been done for the app).
so what features are you particular looking for (as it does have features that might not be listed, i plan asking  my minion @Joel R or fakeJoel to write up a new description for 2.0 :P).

    I agree 100%.
What it's forced me to do is put everything in the main body / description so it will be included in a search.  Which does get around the search problem but wrecks any idea of having certain types of data separated out for uniformity and other database type purposes.  Like you said.... pretty much useless.
Which also begs the question.... The solution to not include extra fields in search results only speeds things up by having less data to process (odd solution for a search problem, as we want data and content).  But, since that forces us to put the data in an area that is indexed, the net result is the same (performance wise).  Sadly, this decision just causes us harm as now instead of having clean, uniform database like structures - we are basically left with the equivalent of static html pages.
It causes us a whole lot of extra work and we loose all the benefits of a database.

Count me in as someone who thinks being able to search extra fields is critical.  I was shocked to learn that extra fields are not searchable.  I mean... what's the point of having them if they cannot be found?
I read earlier in this thread (2016) that IPS was focusing on Engagement and would get back to this issue.  But, it's 2019 and it's still not done?  I am well aware of the challenges and hard work that goes into these things and I don't mean to be pushy, but I would think the "fundamentals" would be a top priority.
Being able to search and find the content you are looking for is 100% necessary to keep users engaged and using our sites.
If they can't easily find what they are looking for they will just leave and what does that do for "engagement"?
I wish that was not the case and people would slow down and take the time to look around - but they won't, if it's easier somewhere else.
So, please consider making this issue a bigger priority than it has been.

Not only Downloads. No app that uses the Extra Fields model can be searched (Classifieds, Videos, Quizzes, Tutorials, etc).

    2019!
This is much required. Even Apple or any good website will have more filter option so that users can filter out search fast! Example -

My website has this custom options for 1 category Maps - but sadly - it's of no use at all for end user because they CANNOT search using it. It's like i have data through which users can search for what they want easily.. but none of that will work because after 3 years this functionality is not implemented!  Please do something about this.

Hi DawPi, just a suggestion for future updates.
    Profile privacy options:
profile is open for all profile is open for registered users only profile is open for (approved) followers only profile closed for all (Except for Admin/Mods) At present it really is "closed for all", so I often find that I have to login as that member when I need to access their profile for whatever reason. Cheers.

PPlanet reacted to sadams101 in Large community? You have a problems with sitemap!
@DawPi has completed the custom sitemap application that I mentioned which handles all posts. You can see an example of it here:
    https://www.celiac.com/sitemap_posts.php
but it is modeled after the existing sitemap--but this one handles just forum posts. We were not able to add a minimum word count to this application, as one person suggested, because it slowed things down and put a load on the CPU. We were, however, able to add the ability to exclude certain forums, for example my site has around 25 different forums, so I was able to exclude a general chit chat and a technical support forum that are more or less off the main topic of my site.
Whether or not this will be a benefit or liability in Google search is an open question, but I'll follow up here with any noticeable changes, positive or negative.
I believe this will have positive results, simply because we are making it easier for Google to index specific content and allow them to provide more relevant search results for any given query. Currently Google's results may send people to a topic page like this one /page/10/, and the person who searched will still have to fish on it for the specific results of their query. With all posts indexed, Google should be able to send the person directly to the content that answers their query...at least that is my hope here.
