Yep that's the actual bug. There is no equivalent value in the language files. I should have this patched a new version out some time today.

Possibly but there may be issues with the ajax voting. That's why I've included a hook that disables voting from the widget.

You can purchase copyright removal for my free mods here. Both the IPB 3.4 and 4.0 versions are included.
When trying to change the setting or in the public side? The permission check should be the first thing done so don't see a cause here. Anyone else having this problem?

Adds a Portal application to IP.Board. Based upon IP.Board Portal by IPS. Please be sure to direct all support questions or suggestions in the discussion topic rather then at IPS. The Portal is currently exclusive to the IPS Marketplace, I do not support this application elsewhere.

View File Mail Bouncer - Automated Bounce Management
Mail Bouncer is a fully automated app to handle email bounces and spam complaints via 3rd Party Email services SparkPost, SendGrid, Mandrill or Amazon SES/SNS.
Hard Bounce If a hard bounce is detected, all email to that user will be instantly disabled, they will be placed into 'validating' status which means that IPS4 will prevent them accessing the community until they have updated their email address. Soft Bounce Soft bounces are counted over a number of days, if they exceed 1 bounce a warning message will be shown, if they exceed 4 bounces it will be converted to a 'hard bounce' Spam reports via Mandrill, SparkPost, SendGrid or Amazon SES/SNS are when a user clicks on 'Spam' in AOL/Gmail/YahooMail etc, this user is blocked from having emails sent to them. The user is presented with a message on every page that tells them that they should update their email preferences instead of marking an email as spam. They are offered a chance to opt-in to emails again, once they opt-in the Mandrill side block is also removed. Removing 'Spam' users from the services reject list may cost a small amount of reputation. To prevent a user exploiting this they are only allowed to opt-in once. Reject Mail Bouncer app will learn your existing reject list as emails are sent to them (this won't hurt your reputation), This allows the app to start telling users to update their email address right away. This app is a zero-configuration app providing your Mandrill/SparkPost/SendGrid API Key setting is present (zero configuration does not include Amazon SES/SNS).
    Amazon SES/SNS
Setting up Amazon SES/SNS is a more involved process, you will be responsible for configuring SNS and ensuring that it is functional and sending data to the Mail Bouncer SNS endpoint (details displayed after app installation).

    Requirements
You must use Mandrill, SparkPost, SendGrid or Amazon SES Email Services cURL Ability for your server to communicate with 3rd party APIs (external connections)
    Support
If you require any support for this product please create a Technical Support ticket in the Client Area. You will need to register an account if you do not already have one. You must supply your IPS Community email address.

Michael.J reacted to AndyF in Hiding the language choice
I've thought about this a few times before.

I wonder if there should be an option added to hide the language chooser (especially if you only have one language anyway) , I know you can simply skin it out ;) , in fact I've added a quick article on doing this for 3.0. (as I have done for other versions at the time), but the same thing could be said for the skin chooser too, and there is an option to disallow anyone (easily, at least) choosing skins by hiding it.

I'm merely thinking along the lines of tidiness as with only one language present, it does not appear serve a real purpose as far as I can tell. :)

After looking at the demo, we bit on purchasing IPB two weeks ago. Our staff installed the application on a sandbox and within a week's time had determined that while IPB is a solid product, the core files do not suit our project. We inquired about a refund policy and were informed that there was none. We are now the proud owner of a $150 forum application that will likely never be used.

Double check, triple check and quadruple check everything before you purchase. There's no turning back.

I know of not a single software company that offers refunds. Try buying a boxed software at a physical store. Once it's open you cannot take it back.

I've been a customer of IPS's for quite awhile now (I believe close to 5-6 years). And usually a pretty vocal (but civil) member. They (and you) may not always agree with me, and sometimes I admit I seem to run in circles like a dog before getting the point I'm trying to make across. But the staff has always been patient with me. And if I get out of hand on that rare chance, they let me know. They have been fair. They have been civil. And they have been partial.

Now I don't always agree with how some things have been done. But much of that was in the past. And they have overall improved in many of those areas. While I was vocal about things like the mod community not long ago, I think sometimes it takes certain events like the VB member mass exodus to IPB where they are asking for 'mod this' and 'mod that' to help move some things along or to re-awaken my arguments. (Which I'm sure they cringe at, at this point. lol)

But in the end, IPS has pulled through. Some things I admit seemed slow to improve. But they HAVE improved on them.

I understand some admin/owner frustrations. They want to move to IPB, but are stuck on VB because that's what their members want. And sometimes it's not an easy decision. And in some cases an impossible one because thats what the members are accustomed to.

I think this mass exodus to IPB from VB will help IPS in the long run. More active members, more input, more opinions, and so on. (Of course there is only 1 me! :P)

Long story short, I hope to not see the day IPS turns as anti-customer as VB has. VB never used to be this way. But since Oct., many of the fears that VB users had (mainly because of that leaked posting from the admin area on their forums), has come to pass. The changes seem to be due to the new mgmt and owners of Vbulletin. It's no longer the VB many knew.

I have supported IPS and will continue to do so. What's ironic for me is when I complained about their new pricing structure awhile back. I wasn't happy with it. Then VB comes out with theirs last month and made the IPB pricing changes look sane in scope. VB essentially made an ass out of me. Go figure. But at least it made me and others realize how good IPB really is in comparison.

Hopefully now we will see more positive changes. And hopefully that while they will continue to innovate, they will also add useful features members frequently request.

Thank you IPS for 'keeping it real' and for not sending some of us to the poor house any faster than you have to. ;) As well as acting 'normal' while also running a business. Too many times businesses become so business like, they lose touch with what the customer really wants, and instead THINK they know what the customer wants. (Big difference.)

    So thanks for everything!

Although I can see this as a day at the office. :P

For serious issues like this, it's probably best to open a support ticket, you should see a checkbox when opening your ticket for critical issues. While you wait for an IPS response, you could also post your ips driver error that other customers might be able to help with in the peer to peer support forums . You can get the exact IPS driver error in the forums/cache/ folder and find a file like this sql_error_log_##_##_##.cgi (replacing ##_##_## for month_day_year).

Something to consider is the total out of pocket expense over a few years... looking at IPB in this manner will show you the reduction in future cost with IPB vs VB.... while it's a little more now... the renewals over the next 2-3 years are 25 bucks for 6 months... you don't have to renew every 6 months either... you can skip a few months or a year and then renew for 25 bucks... and get the latest version. Unlike the new vb license you will have to pay full price every year or two when they release a new version.

Bottom line is yes if you want the full package it's a little more then vb to start but the renewals is where the benifit is.

Preface: This is not a rant or flame, but the hope of appealing to the IPB powers that be for a mutual beneficial opportunity. If there was ever a time to significantly increase your forum owner customer base and also do right by what is probably many thousands of people, you have an extraordinary opportunity - especially during this lasting recession depression.

As you know, the creation and success of a forum is hard work and also an investment in the platform you own. This past week a confusing and misleading email was sent to existing vBulletin forum owners about an amazing upgrade offer to the new vBulletin product and a discontinuence of its old support policy. When the smoke cleared, it became apparent that Jelsoft, now known as Internet Brands, a NASDAQ company, is now demanding that owners of vBulletin forums pay practically the same price to "upgrade" their vBulletin forums as new customers. If customers don't "upgrade" now to an entirely new product which has no demo or release date, their ownly choice is to practically pay for an entirely new forum since the existing customer "discount" is a mere $20 of the cost of the vBulletin 4 forum which is $195. Forcing your customers to pay 89.7% of the price of the new software is an outrageous, disgraceful customer disservice, especially when the new software isn't even out of alpha testing.

Many of the long time vBulletin users who helped create "vBulletin.org", the large vBulletin modification site, are now regretting that decision greatly. In addition to the digust towards the evil empire of forum software, the practicality of upgrading vBulletin software quite simply is not there.

This is where Invision Power Services can increase its user base signficantly by offering some discount pricing to current vBulletin owners or by crossgrading. Many vBulletin forum owners would sooner crossgrade to Invision Power Board and wipe their hands clean of the entire Internet Brands vBulletin pricing fiasco and avoid what could be even more punishing practices in the future with annual or semi-annual vBulletin upgrades regarding more payments. Please consider this opportunity.
