Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted August 24, 20222 yr Popular Post Happy Hump Day, team! Sort of. 😔 One of Invision Community's founding fathers, @Rikki, is amicably moving on from Invision Community to pursue another exciting opportunity. This is his last week with us. He has a few parting words to share with you: Quote After more than 20 years, this is my final full week with IPS. To say I’m sad to be leaving is an understatement. I’m not really sure how to summarize over 20 years of my life in an email. Practically every experience, every memory I have of my life in the last 20 years has been related to IPS in some way, even if only tangentially. This has never just been a job; it has been my life. My social life and friendships, my experiences, my interests, my lifestyle, even my country of residence all stem from IPS and the opportunities it has given me. I’m so immensely thankful for all of that. I will miss working on IPS4 a lot, but I’ll especially miss being part of this community. I’ve always looked forward work, not least because of the people I got to work with along the way. I hope I can still be involved in IPS’s future in some way, because it has been my pride and joy for such a long time. I’m so proud to have played a part in IPS’s success. Rikki has been an instrumental player in Invision Community's success; we're bummed to see him go, but at the same time excited for him to spread his wings. Please leave some well wishes for Rikki in the comments! --- Speaking of the team, @Matt Finger wrote a new dev blog post touching on the PHP8 Compatibility Scanner, our Pre-Upgrade Resource Checker and a full change log for our upcoming September release: --- And last but not least, 4.7.2 Beta 1 is officially out. Check out the release notes here. See you in the replies. 🙏
August 24, 20222 yr A huge thanks to @Rikki for everything he has done to help bring IPS to where it stands now. It's always sad to lose a valuable member of the development team, but the man has to go where he believes he can do the most with his talents and to secure his and his family's future. All good wishes and a fond farewell to this amazing talent. Bon Voyage 🙂
August 25, 20222 yr Best of luck in your new endeavours! Sometimes it’s time to move on and it’s just time to do it. Fingers crossed!
August 28, 20222 yr It's sad to read such news. The design of the IPS was an inspiration for me and an example of a user-friendly interface in modern times, which was directly developed by Rikki! You are a Talent with a capital letter! Well done!
August 28, 20222 yr I wish @Rikki the best of luck in the next step of his career. May your new opportuinity bring you as much happiness and fulfillment as IPS did. 😊
August 29, 20222 yr Thank you everyone, I'm sad to be leaving but very excited for what comes next. I'm sure you'll still see me around here, just without that Staff badge.
August 29, 20222 yr Just when I have sussed out your JS, someone else will come in and mess me up... Best of luck @Rikki
October 18, 20222 yr I totally missed this, so belated good luck and thanks for all your hard work on IPS over the years!
February 2, 20232 yr Thank you everyone, I'm sad to be leaving but very excited for what comes next. I'm sure you'll still see me around here, just without that Staff badge. @Rikki, Nobody asked you directly and this is most important part I believe. Assuming there was no internal fight about what should be leading color of main IPS theme; what are you going to do now? new project? new company? new wife.. pff I meant life? 😅
