Josh DeVeau Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 There is a 'Max shout length' setting, but I'm not sure what the distinction is between length and size in your question. That setting only allows you to limit the size of the shout (in bytes), not the length (# of characters), which is what I'm trying to do.
Michael Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 That shouldn't matter. 1KB in the setting equals 1024 single-byte characters, so just use whatever number of KB would correspond to the number of characters you want.
• Jay • Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Thanks. The query didn't fix it, but deleting the files did. :)
hammerstringz Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Ok.. I was able to delete an entry, but couldn't seem to edit it. I have to get rid of the whole entry and type it over again. Is there a fix to this? Whenever I click the edit button, it does nothing.
jucs Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Any URL's to sites using 3.2 with shoutbox I could see? Thanks.

I can't currently reproduce any issues with editing shouts.
hammerstringz Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I use the IPS hosting... and using shoutbox 1.2.1 with the IPB 3.2
Dinah Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Has anyone besides me had a problem getting the ban feature to work? I can't ban members from the shoutbox.
Michael Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I use the IPS hosting... and using shoutbox 1.2.1 with the IPB 3.2 I wasn't asking which version you were using. Please re-download the application and make sure you have properly uploaded all of the current files.
• Jay • Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Thanks. The query didn't fix it, but deleting the files did. Small niggle... After doing this, the Smilies button on the board index broke. It did nothing until I added a new smiley, now it only lists the new smiley in a pop-up box when it's clicked. However, the smilies button inside the Shoutbox tab works fine. Yeah, I tried reuploading the files, too.
Michael Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 That should have already been fixed. Make sure you have the latest version of the hooks for this application imported.
• Jay • Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 That should have already been fixed. Make sure you have the latest version of the hooks for this application imported. I found the update button on the add-ons page, thanks once again Michael. :)
Weatherz Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Is it possible to minimize the shoutbox my default on the index page? So that it was still there, but wouldn't be taking up as much space. So if someone wanted to use it, they just maximize it? So it would look like this by default. If so, please help me :) I'm running on the latest version ;)
Michael Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 No, the way the collapsed state works on the board index makes everything always show by default, then can be minimized if you want. I can't change that behavior as it is standard IP.Board behavior controlled by the javascript code; and thus, no way for me to even hook into it.
• Jay • Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Sorry Michael, your problem child is back (me). :( Any idea?
flyalaska Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I just upgraded my forum to 3.2.1. My shoutbox disappeared since of the update. I went to check the shoutbox settings, and I get this error when the settings link is clicked.Fatal error: Call to undefined method cp_skin_tools::settings_view_row() in /home/caspsh1/public_html/fly/forum/admin/applications/core/modules_admin/tools/settings.php on line 1248 I have uninstalled and reinstalled, always get the same result. I am using the newest shoutbox version. Any ideas?

Tarquin Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Would it possible for a hook or option to make a sound (like Facebook and stuff do) when a new shout is submitted. This is actually something that a lot of my members want!
Tarquin Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Any URL's to sites using 3.2 with shoutbox I could see? But IP.Board remembers my state for other things when I collapse and refresh, the Shoutbox always comes back to a non-collapsed state. Is this correctable? Other than that I do love it! Great addon for any small to medium community!!! Thanks!
Michael Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Sorry Michael, your problem child is back (me). Any idea? At what point does that occur, as soon as the popup opens, or when you try and execute the archive? But IP.Board remembers my state for other things when I collapse and refresh, the Shoutbox always comes back to a non-collapsed state. Is this correctable? Other than that I do love it! Great addon for any small to medium community!!! Thanks! The fact that it doesn't remember the collapsed state is a bug that is fixed for the next version. But that doesn't change my answer from above; there isn't any way to default it to being collapsed.
• Jay • Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 At what point does that occur, as soon as the popup opens, or when you try and execute the archive? It happens after selecting the search criteria and clicking "Filter"

Michael Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Please refer to the first post. You're using the version of this app for IP.Board 3.1.x, not the new one for 3.2.x, I link you to the correct version of this app in the first line of this file's description.
flyalaska Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 TY that worked. I have it on the side only, I want the height to be a little bigger. I can't seem to find any settings in the Shoutbox settings. Where can I edit the height of the Shoutbox.
