Gaffney Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 It does seem to work snappier on IPB 3.2 Thanks for getting this out so quickly :)
Michael Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I can't take credit for any resource improvements, I didn't do any.
MadMikeyB Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Edit the settings for the Hook: Global Shoutbox and choose Theme 2 from the 'Global Shoutbox Look' setting. Thank you, Michael :)
Rheddy Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Michael, my apologies for sounding so terse. It just bugs me when someone posts an application like the IPS Shoutbox and then forces registration on another website. Sorry, but since my involvement with IPS is concentrated on this site, I just don't see the point in registering on another website. There are too many I have to keep track of as it is and being forced to keep track of yet another site to be registered to goes beyond my involvement. I'd rather just post the bug in this support topic rather than not report it at all ... No disrespect intended here, Michael. The Shoutbox is a wonderful tool for the community and my members love it installed on my forums.
.Nuno. Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Shoutbox is a feature-rich shoutbox/chat system for your IP.Board. Shoutbox will enable your users to send shouts to each other and allow others can read them. It is like a chat-room for your forums, without the need for Java, Flash or any other browser dependency! Hello Michael, I saw in the print screens that the editor looks like the "old" one. Will this be upgraded in the final version? I suggested the possibility to let members choose fixed colors to they shouts. Will this be available in the final version? Thanks again fro you time.
Michael Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 The old IP.Board editor isn't in the IP.Board code anymore, it's definitely using the new editor. Define 'final version', the non-beta release? No, all I'm doing right now is making sure this app still works for 3.2. Adding new features comes after I have all of the rest of my 3.2 updating done.
.Nuno. Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 The old IP.Board editor isn't in the IP.Board code anymore, it's definitely using the new editor. I believe you, but it looks exactly like 3.1 editor  Define 'final version', the non-beta release? No, all I'm doing right now is making sure this app still works for 3.2. Adding new features comes after I have all of the rest of my 3.2 updating done. Thanks for the information.
Michael Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 *blown away* I had assumed that IPS would update the code they used to call the editor to just point to the new editors, and that assumption made me not even look at the editor on the screen. I'll see if I can update the app to use that instead.
Breadfan Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 "Support and Resources, without all the drama".. Sorry, but.. Off to register now! EDIT: WTH? I'm already registered there? Kewl. :D
Michael Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Gotta do some checking for the editor when editing shouts, and some cleanup, but this should mostly be working now.
JiigSaaw Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Very much indeed, thanks Michael : ) Now, would maybe now how to fix this? http://gyazo.com/b60...9251dead1d864ec Sorry if I'm keeping you busy, that skin hates the Shoutbox for some reason. The lines (blue separators) are missing and the text is bold. Screenshot: http://gyazo.com/a5e...0376741ee597e67 Same problem, VELVET skin.
Michael Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 If you use a third party mod on a third party skin, fixing it is up to you. I'm not going to fix problems this app has with every skin out there. Mods are designed for the IP.Board default skin, there's no way to make sure they always look right on every skin.
Leo Light Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 How do you disable the auto-parsing of YouTube links showing up as videos in the shouts?
Michael Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Edit your Media bbcode in the BBCode Management page and change the "Where can the BBCode be used?" setting to not include the Shoutbox.
Michael Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 You're welcome, I know how annoying that can be.
Taylor J Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Just wondering, what features do you plan on adding to the shoutbox Michael?
Michael Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 I don't have anything specific planned at the moment. When I get everything upgraded for 3.2, then I can start thinking of updating this or other products. I do have a feature tracker for this where people can suggest things, that's where I'll be looking for things to add.
Calumks Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I get this error.Fatal error: Call to undefined method IPSMember::makeNameFormatted() in /admin/applications_addon/other/shoutbox/sources/classes/library.php on line 678
Michael Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 This is an IP.Board 3.2 application only, you need to install the 3.0/3.1 version if you're using that version of IP.Board. http://community.invisionpower.com/files/file/2285-shoutbox/
Gaffney Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Michael, do you know if there will be a way to add the shoutbox onto the IPB Mobile skin in IPB 3.2.x ?
.Nuno. Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Michael, In 3.1 version when we use the RTE editor and we are in the shoutbox page, the cursor doesn't focus in the text area after a shout, so we are forced to use the mouse place the cursor to shout again. I've not tested 3.2 with shoutbox yet, but have you notice the same behavior? Thanks
