Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted February 25, 200916 yr Been inactive for a while now, I appreciate that, however... :( I have noticed that the IPS Company Forums (this site) has been running really slow for me; both at home (with a throughput speed of 6-Meg) and College (with a throughput speed of over 50-Meg) so I highly doubt it's due to the connection. I won't attempt to diagnose the issue, but I just wondered if other's are suffering from this problem or maybe it's a known problem and is being worked on? I can't check the bugs list because the slowness is that bad. There are a 10+ seconds delay of the site loading. :(
February 25, 200916 yr There have been a few posts about that issue. Rebuilding FURL tables (or something like that) occurs the first time(s) you visit. They're also getting hammered by the number of users online. And one IPS employee said a number of background things are being done that we don't see but does have an impact on speed. They're still tuning the board and it'll take some time to get it right. I do have to say that the speed has improved for me in the last half-hour.
February 25, 200916 yr It's the opposite for me: Speed was fine all through the day excep for the past half-hour: it has been painfully slow.
February 25, 200916 yr Agreed with Brandon. Things have slowed. It took me 3 minutes just to load the index just now. The slowest load I've seen myself.
February 25, 200916 yr It is slow than IPB 2, we can't hide that fact. It is might to do with rebuilding posts, im sure that has been completed by now? Maybe Search Engine bots is hammering this site because of new skin and furl. If this is not the case, then maybe something wrong with PHP code, something is looping too long.
February 25, 200916 yr We are aware of the speed. We browse the site too. :) We're doing a bunch of things (rebuilding posts, etc.) and benchmarking things in the background - give it some time. ;) (This is the risk of running beta software, and one of a million reasons we do not advise our customers to do so on their own sites).
February 25, 200916 yr Oh, glad I'm not alone (that sounds selfish but I promise it isn't :P ). Thanks for the responses.Edit: I have just read a few posts in this topic and now I can see how annoying this topic must be. Sorry. (A)
February 26, 200916 yr Very slow for me and I got this the first time I tried to open this thread: <b>Fatal error</b>: Out of memory (allocated 13369344) (tried to allocate 122880 bytes) in <b>/home/forumsi/public_html/cache/skin_cache/cacheid_1/skin_topic.php</b> on line <b>117</b>

February 26, 200916 yr Management No need for running commentary on it's fast/it's slow  The speed will fluctuate a lot over the next few weeks as we make changes, test things, etc.
February 26, 200916 yr Do you think it because HEAVY used of PHP Classes that has effected the performance?
February 26, 200916 yr IPB 2 uses PHP Classes, so I wouldn't have thought that would be what was effecting it
February 26, 200916 yr Like a broken record. I think we all know by now this site has slowed down a little, lets just give it time while they do their thing ;)
February 26, 200916 yr For me to open this forensite (from Germany) its faster then the 2.x
February 27, 200916 yr Well, IP.Board beta 3 runs pretty fast from here (France), even faster than before I would say ;)
March 1, 200916 yr wish they would put the timer on the bottom back on to see how fast the page loads
March 2, 200916 yr wish they would put the timer on the bottom back on to see how fast the page loads Why? So we can get a bunch of posts then posting the page load generation times? ;)
March 7, 200916 yr Although sometimes this board is running fine, generally is slower than "old" 2.3.6 board. This "issue" is worrying me because my board (2.3.6) run fast and I don't want slower board although ipb3 features are much more better
March 7, 200916 yr http://forums.invisionpower.com/topic/281636-wow-the-new-look-invision-board-is-superb/page__view__findpost__p__1789073 they're working on it. Just have to wait and see where we are at in Release Candidate stage.
