MindTooth Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 A public beta, or even a closed one would be great. Birger :)
Bain Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I would expect that IPB 3 will be coming around as a beta before Halloween...but that is just an expectation of a customer.
Cool Surfer Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 I think ITracker is the best link to come to kow when it will be released. First a copy of the release will be given to esteemed modders like dean, fosoua and once they are done with bug reporting, a beta will be released. Atleast this was the trend for version 2, when it was released.

Actually the first copy's are probably giving to trained security specialists to insure that all security issues are fixed and patched, then a fresh IPB3 (Consumer version) is installed on their server. Once every thing works fine it will go off to some staff or close friends that are highly trusted not to release any info and beta test it for a good couple days. Then they will probably spend another couple days or week's overlooking all their hard work and doing some final test's before this board is upgraded. I would assume they will let this run for a few days on this before releasing the public beta or final.
Wolf Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 I am still saying, I wish to see akismet integration or some other (similar) form of spam control.
Amy T Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Give us something! :D They do every now and again the the blogs.
.Matt. Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 How about a % (percentage) of how much of IPB3 is done? Then that can give us a rough idea when to expect it.
Morrigan Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 How will they know that? Its not like they are taking the code from 2.3 and upgrading they are re-writing everything from scratch and then some. ;)
Amy T Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Ya so the percentage thing might be very hard to do.
abobader Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 heheh, Brandon, nice "trade mark" issue, and true factor indeed :) But for sure it took a long time, and hoping when it see the light, it comes as everyone was hoping for. My best.
Cybertimber2009 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Wow, i'm surprised no one so far has known thats been IPS trademark since at least 1.2-1.3 times. And it's as reliable as murphy's law!
W13 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I'm anxious but I'm skeptical too about how many things IPB 3 might potentially break :S (so... I'll actually upgrade to IPB 3 after a couple weeks of final release - just to get those initial bugs out of the way, which like-it-or-not there will be).
Dr. Adam Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 You know the old folk lore says every time someone asks it pushes it back 2 months. :P
Cool Surfer Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I am sure IPB will give us all a surprise, by releasing v3 sooner then promised. I know they can do it.
Jaggi Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I am sure IPB will give us all a surprise, by releasing v3 sooner then promised. I know they can do it. erm yes sooner than expected... cus thats happened before :P.
Malefickus Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Of course it's happened before! That's why they don't tell us release dates, so it'll be sooner than we expect :P Nah, let them take their time with it. They've told us Q4 this year, let's let them work on it and hold that quote. I'd rather it be a finished, fully secure and functional product than something that was rushed to meet a deadline, and needing multiple patches within a month of being released.

Vbulletin is known for that... :)

If you have a custom skin im right in thinking that most thinks wont work or you will use the ability to use your custom skin!
