S3 / CloudFront as an Infinite (scalable) IPB upload storage device Hi guys, After setting up my IPB forum, I thought that the last change I should make is to make all file uploads (mostly images), to be uploaded to Amazon S3 / Cloudfront. Amazon S3 is a scalable storage. It is great for storing large files without worrying about capacity. I can imagine that if the images capacity exceeds the EBS storage limit (up to 1 TB, which can be filled fast with high res images), I will have a problem. I though that with S3, I won't have to worry about making configuration to support multiple EBS storage devices. As far as I know, IPB doesn't support multiple storage devices …

Currently running the 15 day trial of Litespeed and running a conversion, I have gotten a few timeouts - I even set my cycles to 700 vs with apache only i had it set to 2000 per cycle (posts) never timed out.

I am asking a lot of questions today. BTW: If I need to ask all question in one post please tell me. I wanted to know if using XChache or any other caching solution is better for performance and caching with IP.Board? I am using Amazon web services, and I want the minimum bandwidth. Hello! First of all, I just wonder, is IPS official forum linked up to a 1 GBit-Port or a 100 MBit-port? (or something else?), and second, how much transfer pr month is this forum requiring? I'm not running a big board but I am just very interested, also I'm asking because I see I can buy a box at 132 mbit port (5tb transfer included) and upgrade to 1gbit port (10 tb transfer included) if I need to. Further on I would like to know about other "big" sites and what they require. It's obvious that a site running IP.Downloads/IP.Gallery like this will have more transfer pr month, but I would like to know how much (if it's not a company secret then ^^) it requires running t…

Hello guys, Could You tell me what is the easiest way to convert 4 tables from myisam to innodb? I'd like to convert images, post, topics and members - I have seen the most time locks on those tables. Do I need to stop mysql server abd then use some third party sw or could I use some built-in mysql services? I'm using mysql 5.0 Of course I would do this on test board at the begining ps. is it possible to easily go back whith those few tables to myisam? Regards YacentY

I'm on a dedicated server, it's more than capable of running IP.Board (3.1.3) at the traffic levels I have but it's quiet slow. What settings would you recommend to speed it up? Server spec: HP DL120 (G6) Dual Core G6950 (2x2.8Ghz) 4GB RAM 2x250GB SATA RAID1 CentOS cPanel mySQL 5.0.91 PHP 5.3.3 Apache 2.0.63 It's a $500/month full managed solution and my 200 concurrent user forum should be able to serve pages faster than with a 1.7 - 2.1 second page generation time. Hello On my server the performance of read and open topics and everything on the forum is super high and less than half second even on pick times. My problem is sql when i have only 10 users per minute the database shows load of cpu: 114% and ram 5%. At pick time it goes to about cpu 170% and ram if i am not wrong is the same about 5%. The problem is at pick time when i try to edit pin unpin move a topic as it takes more than 20 seconds and sometimes i get 500 intrnal server error. (researching about that error i set all folders on correct permissions and i use 775 permissions on the places that need it...) I think something is always hit the sql and don't let…

Please help... Yesterday i have done an upgrade to IPB3.1.3. Everything went well, except the search system. I use sphinx as the search engine. It just stopped working after the upgrade. Do i have to change some settings manually to get it work? (sphinx.conf?) Thanks...

Hello my server: Cpanel server Php as fastcgi and suexec 2x Intel Xeon Quad 5405 16 GB ram - (4gb free) I was thinking to try a caching system for my forum 2.3.x for caching some queries for my database and i have some info about: APC: stable eAccelerator: fast xcache: faster memcached: fast (better for multi servers) Now on my server (only one dedicated) i was thinking to try the memcached and then the xcache and i need your opinion and what settings i must add on conf_global.php? Do i have to add there some info as i was thinking it will run on server side and it will work even if i don't add anything there or not? Thank you

Hello ! :) I have this "mysql server has gone away" error everyday in my cache directory... For instance I found it today, but I don' understand why, because I don't have many members online today (around 655 at the moment), and the server load is around 0.25. My my.cnf is this one : If you had this problem and managed to fix it, can you tell me how you did it or give me pieces of advice ? Thank you ! :)

Hello I have 2 tables locking and i optimize the slow query's but still locking and i was read that i can fix this problem on a few ways that some members recomend me: Tables: ibf_posts ibf_topics Solutions that i found and have no idea how to add the best one: 1)The best way to improve the mysql query performance is to split the data across maximum tables. 2)Convert tables to Innodb 3)mysql balancing Your opinion and a solution to keep those query's and also to run fast? Also how many access a table must have per second to lock? Thank you

Hello ! :) I've been using IPB since 2003 and now my database is 8 gigabytes big. My server is powerful so I now don't have too many problems having my board running, but sometimes, I get these errors : Error: 1317 - Query execution was interrupted Error: 2006 - MySQL server has gone away I was told that this was due to the size of my database, that it takes time to search the tables... I don't know if this is true and if there is a solution. I'm just asking if it will be possible in the future to use mutiple databases or any solution which would avoid having one huge database causing problems. Thank you ! :)

I'm wondering whether to use mod_expires in my .htaccess file to cache some of them images i'm using that never update. If I added this into my .htaccess would it work? ### activate mod_expires ExpiresActive On ### Expire .gif's 1 month from when they're accessed ExpiresByType <Directory /home/talkford/public_html/images/forumimages> A2592000 I'm not sure if I've got my coding correct, I basically want to cache images in a certain directory only.

Hello ! :) I've had a problem to day... I don't know what hapened : - My web site and server became impossible to access... - I lost my access to my server (was banned from it, but I have other connexions so I used them to remove my IP from the firewall deny list). - When I had access again, I noticed the database was corrupted. So I ran a repair using phpmyadmin. It returned many errors. I noticed this one saying that one client is using or hasn't closed the table properly. I just set up my new server (Apache) and thought I installed mod_rewrite and it does show as being loaded as a module, however no rewrite works. Does anyone else here have fedora 13 and may have an idea on what needs to be done in order to get mod_rewrite up and running? I have no control panel, I am doing everything 100% through ssh.

I'm stuck for once ! Mainly as dont know how the IPB functions :P Since enabling suhosin some clients are reporting white pages, Not all ! But some,I cannot figure it out, I have googled and I can only get: suhosin.request.max_vars suhosin.post.max_vars Now, These are set to what IPB require yet white pages continues, Anyone have any ideas on this.
