Hello How can i clear the values for the ibf_topic_markers older than 2 months? As it seems a bit high with almost 1.800.000 entries? Does that table keep other info than which topic a user had read and which not on ipb 2.3.x? Thank you

Hello On my forum i have 1.400.000 posts and increase daily by 5.000 new posts and i want a solution as when i edit any of these is very slow as the table is big. I was thinking to convert the table to Innodb but i am not sure if this is the best solution for the future also.... The read of the table is very fast and the problem is only the edit. The server is powerfull with 16gb ram and 2x quad xeon. Thank you

How much is important to have ECC RAM? I ask that because I was offered a server that uses a good consumer processor (Intel i7-980) with lots of RAM (12 GB) that, of course, is not ECC. :)

Hi, Anyone using IP.Nexus with xcache? As we know for IP.Nexus we need Ioncube or Zend Optimizer. A system admin told me that Zend Optimizer and xcache don't play well together. Is that correct? Any suggestions? Thank you.

I've noticed some gzipped files in there that are months old - are they still required, or can /cache/tmp be flushed once in a while? Cheers, Shaun :D

Hello, Recently I upgraded to IPB 3.1.4 (sometime in December) and since last July I've been on a VPS. My traffic (last July) was around 6,000-8,000 pageviews per day. Currently I get around 15,000-25,000 pageviews a day, and my traffic is getting higher every day. Board Specs IP.Board v3.1.4 Around 30 mods installed all together (mostly small mods that aren't resource hogs) 100,000 members 300,000 posts Less than 100 forums About 1,000 posts per day Around 1,000 members online daily Average around 100-150+ users active at any time Peak times we get in the 180+ range for active users Late night we drop to around 50 active users Server Specs Dual (x2) Intel Xeon E5…

Best Practice for Addresses forums.domain.com

so a lot of forums that i frequent use forums.domain.com as a url. what are the benefits of that? how do they do it? do they just setup a sub-domain then re-direct a folder on their server to that url? if so, is it good practice to use a folder called site.com/forums/ then re-direct the url to that folder? if the answer to the above is true, why and how is it that when i try to visit any of the popular forums i visit at sitepoint.com/forums/index.php, digitalpoint.com/forums/index.php or http://www.invisionpower.com/forum/index.php i get a 'page not found'?

IPB Keeps Causing Server To Crash

For the first few days, when i went live with my IPB + Gallery it was fine but over the past few days we have kept having to reboot the server every 5 hrs as it keeps sending the server offline. we also got someone to look into the database a few days ago when it first happened and they found some corrupt tables, this did seem to sort it out for a day but over the last 48 hrs its sent the server offline 5 times and imo its due to something in either the code or the db, ive looked over the forums and cannot see anyone else with this problem. when its online it runs superb but then just starts to get slower and then wont load at all, goes online and running fine to offl…

Hello ! :) Regarding XCache, can you tell me if it works better with the highest possible value for xcache.size ? Or should xcache.size be set to a reasonnable value in any case ? I'm asking this because : - I had OOms when xcache.size was set at 64M. So I decided to increase xcache.size up to 96M. - when looking at the administration panel, I notice that there are blue and green bars : but after some time, when the bars are near to be filled, everything is cleared : Is this normal ? Thank you for your help ! :)

Hello I am using xcache and i add also the: $INFO['use_xcache'] = '1'; On the config of the forum. Does that means that it will cache other things than php requests? And my second question is as i want to use memcache for static files and xcache for dynamic which line i must add to the forum config? Please give me some info. And the third question :) Do i have to compile from easy apache update on cpanel the memcache and the memcached? I think memcached is for php.. Memcache will work alone? Thank you

Well to me the site is fairly large. Im converting about 30k members millions of posts from a vBulletin 3.8 install to IPB 3.1.4. I just want to make sure the convert goes off without a hitch and if I run into an issue I have someone to offer assistance. Let me know if there is anyone out there and what your rate would be. On a side note I have already done a few conversions with the database but issues always seem to arise when I try want to go live (this is my second forum conversion)

Hello! First of all I made this thread out of curiosity. I have no experience what so ever, and I hope you could help me boost my knowledge a bit :P What are the benefits, and/or disadvantages using SSD for large databases (20+ GB)? If you run a forum on a SSD wouldn't content (posts etc. (not images etc of course)) be displayed much faster (improved speed)? And also, when using the forum search function, wouldn't results display faster? Or am I missing something here? I have read that having DBs on SSD is much more efficient when it comes to repairing/doing changes in the DB and that this on a HDD would take a ridiculous amount of time. I know memory is vital, but let'…

I have the intention to upgrade my server with the new PHP and MySQL scripts, and exactly from PHP 5.2.14 to php 5.3.3 and MySQL from 5.1.44 to MySQL 5.5 I would ask you if some of you had issues with those new version of the scripts, and would go ahead, as I would then install Sphinx and change tables from MyISAM to InnoDB. Your experience?

I've got a forum split between 2 servers. I've installed Sphinx to the database server and set it up as per the instructions. It's generated indexes and such with no problems. Unfortunately the forum doesn't appear to be using it to search for things. It searches members fine but not the forums it just returns no results for terms I know should generate plenty of results. The settings are: Address: IP of database server, port: default, sphinx base path: /var/sphinx as per guide, wildcard searching is off. When starting Sphinx says it's listening on 127.0.0.1:3312 so I'm wondering if that may be implying that it's only receiving connections from localhost, but that…
