Now days the industry of Instant Messaging systems is growing... I think It's time we add either the game based IM system that has MANY users called "xfire" to the profile information card and/or the new IM from google called Google Talk. Though this is just a small thing, i think it needs to be done :)

RSS Feed Importer - RegEX filter?

I would love to use the RSS import system to generate content for my board, however I do not want every single article in an RSS feed to be posted. I want my feeds to match certain criteria before being posted to eliminate content that is irrelevant to my board. This can be done very simple by adding 1 column to the table for the rss feeds for the 'regex_string' and then add the input row to the form for that value - which the user could enter the actual regex pattern (so knowledge of it would be required and thats fine with me) and then all you have to do is put in like 1 line of code right before the "post the arcticle" code cheking to see if the article matched the r…

My forum is based on uploaded images and its a royal pain in the ass to moderate images Say I want to delete only two pictures in a users post. I have to click to enlarge one of the pictures, then record its filename, then go and enlarge the 2nd picture and record that ones filename, then i have toedit the topic, then search and find those specific images, then choose to remove them. Now if the image wasnt resized...well Im screwed because Ill never know which image it was since I cant know the real filename; all I get is something like post-x-xxxxxxxxx.jpg Id really like an easier way. This is very tiny, but would save some hassle of having to click back after each reply or clicking the breadcrumb link :P Have an option in My Controls > Board Settings, like the rest of the little board specific options. For after replying to a topic, where you are sent? Back to the topic you replied to, forum index that the topic is in, or the board index. I think those are 3 good options. I would really like to be sent to the forum index. Have it apply to fast reply as well as add reply.

After upgrading from 2.0.4 I've missed my red PM alert notification across the top of my board. My members have too. Is there anyway the old PM alert could be placed back into the next release and have an option in ACP to set it for the new alert system or the old alert system? I'm finding that most of the time the pop up doesn't open all the way and I don't like having it attached to the My Assistant. It disappears too quickly if it does popup. I know...I know... it could be a browser issue, I use IE6, but that still won't help me and my members when we have messages. Please bring back the old alert system. Or make it an Admin option to have it set either way. ;)

I am just curious if there has been any talk about adding a feature to the Admin CP to allow admins to control the maximum dimensions of posted images. I would love to see this feature implemented and I'm very surprised it wasn't in version 2.0. To those of you that have forum skins that are set to 100% it doesn't really affect you but to those of us who have fixed width forums, this has long been one of very few things lacking in IPB. I'd love to see the ability to simply have a maximum width (in pixels) control somewhere in the Admin CP. Other options would be nice as well but even just setting a maximum width would save me a lot of annoyance. Thanks to everyone…

Spiders indexing topics in outline/linear+ mode

It's really annoying when spiders index your topics in a non-standard display mode because if a guest follows a link to your board from a search engine and the page was indexed using a non-standard mode, he/she may not register or read any further due to the display mode being strange or, in the case of outline mode, something that totally gets in the way of user-friendliness. Of course, the natural way to solve a problem like this is to ban the URI in robots.txt. But because IPB tacks the "mode" parameter onto the end of the URI (e.g. index.php?showtopic=123&mode=threaded) it isn't possible to ban. I manage multiple very large different sites that use IPB. I have a list super long of features that I would like to see implemented. A lot of these ideas have been floating around. I will consolidate a whole lot of them for reconsistency. I saw invizion at www.aquazone.gr, I spoke with the owner and they told me very good things about invizion board. My question is, if I change to invizion, waht would be the benefit? I think it would be a cool idea to have a feature where you can specify a set of permissions and save them so you can apply the preset to new forums created For example if you make ever forum on your board use the same set of permissions then instead of having to select all those permissions each time you simply select the preset from a dropdown menu and your forums permissions are automaticaly set

Some of my users would like to be able to set their own default writing style, so they wouldn't have to select a font family, font size and style when they write new posts. Maybe would it be possible (in a future version) to remember last-used style with Rich Text Editor ? :thumbsup:

Adding forums is way too time consuming

Adding forums and moderators is way too clunky and time consuming. I run a forum in which every few weeks I add around 10 forums. Each of these forums has 3 sub forums. It takes hours and hours to add all of them, set all their permissions, name all of them correctly, put them in the correct forums and locations, rearrange them (this screen shows over 150 forums!!! ahhh). Dont even get me started on having to add mods to each and every new forum and sub forum created. I really, really wish the process to add forums had more dhtml. It should function more like Windows where you create a forum "folder", you can click it and rename it on the spot, you can drag and dro…

Add version to javascript file names

I think identifying marks should be made to the javascript file names. Rather than a generic ipb_editor_rte.js, how about ipb_editor_rte_215a.js or pb_editor_rte_215b.js Why would I suggest this? Because of javascript caching. How can we expect members who can't even get their email address right, read the directions, or fail to log in... How can they remember or even know to empty their browser cache and any temporary internet files. I think that is beyond the scope of many users Changing the file names with each revision would alleviate this problem as well as the many reported problems/bugs caused by running old javascript with new code.
