Inline subtitle editing
by Guest Exiled- 0 replies
- 1.4k views
I note that the inline title editing feature doesn't allow inline subtitle editing. On my board, at least, this greatly limited its usefulness. I would also like to see in-line topic editing added as an option in the User Group settings. If it's there, I can't find it. One possible application: if there's a time limit imposed on user post editing, the user can still change the subtitle to indicate progress/status changes in the thread. Sure, the moderator can do it for them, but since our members are accustomed to using subtitle edits, they would probably make more requests than most. On our board we recently had problems with a few problem members making changes in…

Announcement System Update/Addition
by Guest dwhitehouse- 0 replies
- 1.5k views
We all know that the Announcement stsyem in the "My Controles" is awsome, but there is no way to reply to it. What I am suggesting is one of the 2 things. 1) The system will make your announcement be like a post and able to reply to. 2) Or that the system creats a seperate post in a dedicated forum that you descide and it would have permision accesability like a normal post.

[REQ] Parse comments out of CSS cache
by Guest rct2·com- 0 replies
- 1.5k views
I like to comment my CSS files as I edit them on my skins, so that I can keep track of changes I have made to the default (ready for the NEXT time I have to start from scratch when IPB change the skin). Would it be possible for IPB to remove all these comments when building the cache file, just to save a little bandwidth when people visit the boards?

Who's Chatting Display in 2.1.3
by Guest jucs- 6 replies
- 2.6k views
First, background: http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?showtopic=201789 Today, my forums are basically offline again due to the index.php not loading because of the Who's Chatting display and the chat server being offline. There is NO reason for the chat server and this one line of display should prevent the loading of the index.php. No reason. It should display "chat server offline" or something like that. Not bring down the whole forum load. My suggestion, if it's not already in 2.1.3, prevent this from occuring. Pretty stupid that it does right now. I guess very stupid. Not just pretty stupid.

Low Level Admin
by Guest TheProphet- 4 replies
- 2.4k views
Ok, I'm new to the whole invision board thing, so this feature may be avaliable, and I just havn't found it, though I don't think it's avaliable. What I need is to be able to create an account type that is able to do some of the admin things, but not all of them. Eg, I want said admins to be able to add forums rooms, and have control over those rooms, and thats it. So basicly what I'd like is to be able to select sections of the ACP section that they can use. I hope that makes sence. Regards TheProphet

Render PM Pop-Up later in code (problem with "View Last Post"
by Guest thereuare- 1 reply
- 1.7k views
When users receive a PM after hitting a "View Last Post" link, the PM pop-up window opens and then the page immediately drops down to the last post... thus making the PM window off-screen. Can the PM window appear after the page appears at the appropriate post... or perhaps have the PM box 'float' at the center of the page, requiring the user to either read the PM or click the 'X' to close the pop-up box. Thank you.

Hi all, I got a simple but (maybe) a very handy mod. This mod would make it able for admins to set per forum a special status in which ppl if they make a new topic get the option to fill in a special form instead of making a post with their own content. A simple example. Let's say i have an introduction forum. When ppl wanna make a new topic in this forum they would get to see the form that the admin created in the admin panel for that forum. The form in my example could have questions like; name, place, age and stuff like that. And when the topic is posted u would see an organised post that should be the same for every topic made in that forum. This seems like a gre…

I know that a feature for automerging double posts has been added, but can there not be a time limit on it, or another option?

Indicator for PM's you've replied to

I would like a way to know what PM's I have already replied to. Just changing the icon to the left of the PM title like so many e-mail systems do would be perfect.

Incorporate RSS or emailed proxy update support
by Guest Exiled- 0 replies
- 1.8k views
There are free and pay services, like Xproxy.com, that offer RSS feeds and e-mail subscriptions to lists of fresh proxies, submitted by members, compiled from other lists, and tested by Xproxy (whose founder was a fed-up admin, but supports the use of proxies for privacy where they are allowed). This could certainly be a selling point for established boards considering an upgrade or software change. In today's web environment, most admins get sick of recurrent troublemakers when their board reaches a certain size. I don't know how much glue logic would be required, but since there is at least the possibility that it might be readily done, I'd like to submit it for consi…

Super Groups
by Guest Sonic98- 0 replies
- 1.8k views
I think there needs to be an option for a Super Group. This would be groups that permission masks could not override. That way you could change member's group without having to change all their masks. For instance I don't want to move someone to banned or have the forum move them to validating when they change e-mail addresses, but they still have access to everything they had access to before.

Dear Santa 1 2

So with Christmas fast approaching I thought I would take the opportunity to wish everyone a happy upcoming holiday season. On that subject I would like to start a FRIENDLY string with Christmas wishes for IPB. Personally I would like to see a section where they post temporary bug fixes before they release the next version of IPB. I have a topic for which I would like an interim solution: http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?...&f=272&t=193760 Keep your requests reasonable and polite and let IPB know what is on your wish list for Christmas. THIS IS NOT A FEATURE REQUEST STRING BUT RATHER WHAT CHANGES OR PARTICULAR IMPROVEMENTS YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE.…

Shared Login Interface
by Guest Grant- 1 reply
- 1.9k views
Hi, I think a great feature to include in 3.0 is the ability to get authencation information from elsewhere kinda like the login plugin system already in place. The only difference is that the Staff would have a central login for all of the interfaces they deal with. So that way they wouldn't need a different username and password to get into IP.Dynamic or Nexus or anything. I also think the system should also be able to share sessions with the other products so if you loginto one it logs into all of them. That should of course be an option as well. It would be easy enough to do, its just all the Invision Products would have to draw from a central Server for session Ma…

Restore from trash can
by Guest Sebastian Mares- 1 reply
Hi! I love the trash can feature, but one thing that is missing IMO is restoring deleted topics. Sometimes, my moderator decides to delete a certain post from a thread, while I think it's still OK to have it where it was. Instead of having to manually move the post back, I would love an action to restore the post to where it was. Regards, Sebastian

Programming the time for post
by Guest Telemacus- 1 reply
- 1.6k views
I'd really love to have the ability to program a post so that it only appears on-line at a given time. There are several reasons why this would be so useful, but I'm mainly thinking about preventing "blank periods" of activity in the forum. For example, imagine it's monday morning and you've got a couple of hours to write 6-7 posts on your forum. So, you go ahead and you write them and they all go on-line. People read them, some reply to them and you even notice that the number of visitors on that particular Monday has increased. Very nice. However, over the next couple of days there's nothing new on your forum, nobody has started a new topic, just replied to a cou…

Will invisionboard ever have AJAX
by Guest Qasim- 23 replies
- 5.9k views
Invision board is a much cleaner and reliable board than vbulletin - but there is one vb feature which would be nice http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/what_is_ajax This allows people to add replies without refreshing Any chance this could ever be implemented in IPB?

Couple of ideas
by Guest Dlf- 1 reply

Custom User groups in ACP - This would show custom made user groups of the ACP. Those that an admin made, apart from the default made. I think this would be nice to differ between default made and custom made (though yes I do know of the descriptiion at the top of the screen). Public (Joinable) custom user groups - Unless i'm mistaken Matt said a feature of 3.0(.0) would be similar to one of PHPBB, cutom joinable user groups. This would show what groups people can join. Days Registered - This would make it so anyone has been on the board (had an account) for x days can move to {group} Posts - Like above, but this time you need x amount of posts to join [yes I know it's a…

Restrict username chars as option in ACP
by Guest Exiled- 0 replies
- 1.4k views
I'll be upgrading my test board from 2.0.4 to 2.1.3 tomorrow, so I apologize in advance if I missed this in one of the changelogs. I'm sure you are already aware of Den Watts simple character checking mod, but there's nothing in that thread to indicate that it has been incorporated. If not, it's probably because you have so much else to work on, and probably don't see it as a something your customers desire. Some customers might not even *like* it. I daresay they'll want it soon, though. I've had members with Greek letters in their names. Even if you manually review/authorize each new account, would you see the difference between PeterPiper and ΡeterΡiper? (Cut and…

Oracle XE
by Guest mcretan- 1 reply
- 1.8k views
As an IPB Oracle customer, I just thought that you guys might also be interested to know that Oracle will (in the next month or so) be releasing a free version (including royalty free distribution) called Oracle XE. Its limited to a 4GB database size (that's a lot of posts), 1GB of memory and 1 CPU. From what I have read about the inclusions/exclusions IPB should run on it without modification (Oracle Text - aka CTX is included). I'm not wanting to start the whole oracle vs mssql vs mysql thing again, but for those of your customers comfortable with Oracle - it might be a good way to go  Cheers, Mike

Usergroup Color Applies everywhere
by Guest pspzones- 0 replies
- 1.4k views
I think it would be useful there was an Admin CP option to allowed you to choose whether or not you want the Usergroup color of a member to apply globally and not just to the Active User's list. So basically you can choose whether someone who is red on the active users list to appear red everytime their name is shown on the board. I think this would make the board look better and I hope you consider adding this feature to the next update. Does anyone else think this is a good idea? :)

Hi I got a problem
by Guest beaten- 1 reply

Hi I hope this is where the invision power service staff is. I brought a yearly invision power license costing $69.95 which is about 41 GBP. Then we recieved an invoice for it and paid for. When we checked our bank account we were charged twice the amount with exact same price and item description so now we were charged 80 GBP. And further invoices with different I.Ds were sent to us by e-mail. So now not only have you sent us more invoices, we also been charged twice the amount we were suppose to pay. Okay it might have been our mistake for accidentally chosen a yearly license twice but we checked if we had but no, total invoices was 1 and that costed $69.95 which has b…
