Telemacus
I'd really love to have the ability to program a post so that it only appears on-line at a given time. There are several reasons why this would be so useful, but I'm mainly thinking about preventing "blank periods" of activity in the forum. For example, imagine it's monday morning and you've got a couple of hours to write 6-7 posts on your forum. So, you go ahead and you write them and they all go on-line. People read them, some reply to them and you even notice that the number of visitors on that particular Monday has increased. Very nice. However, over the next couple of days there's nothing new on your forum, nobody has started a new topic, just replied to a couple of the old ones and so on. Now, wouldn't it be nice to be able to actually program when those 7 posts go on-line? that way, perhaps you'd instruct the forum software to publish 1 of your posts every 12 hours. That would ensure that people have something new to read at least every 12 hours. Or if you know when most of your members get on-line, you could even fine-tune the most convenient time for those messages to go on-line. Anyway, I think you get the picture. I think this would be a great improvement.
//Nathan
Possibly with a modification? IPB is so close to doing that. When you go to make a new post (with 2.1.x, if you're an admin) you can set open and close dates, like as if the topic were an announcement. Also, IPB has and has long since had a system where topics can be 'invisible' until 'approved' by an admin. Perhaps a modification can bridge this... First a mod that allows the admin to make a post 'invisible' by default, and then self-approve at such-and-such time. Given what is already in the code, and what you want, it seems like it would only require a little bit of code to make a modification to do this. I don't see how this would benefit the majority of customers, but it could be a mod as there could be limited uses of this. I'd find a modder, maybe request it somewhere, get one inspired. ;)
